Bandits and terrorists can both use violence, kidnapping, intimidation, and armed attacks, but their motives, objectives, and political orientation are usually different.
Bandits
Bandits are primarily driven by economic or criminal gain.
Typical characteristics:
Robbery, cattle rustling, kidnapping for ransom, extortion
Focus on money, survival, or control of criminal territory
Usually not trying to overthrow the government or promote an ideology
Violence is a tool for profit
Example:
Armed groups kidnapping travelers for ransom
Criminal gangs attacking villages to steal livestock or valuables
Terrorists
Terrorists are primarily driven by political, ideological, ethnic, or religious objectives.
Typical characteristics:
Use violence to create fear and pressure governments or societies
Aim to influence political decisions or social order
Often promote an ideology, separatist cause, or extremist belief
Attacks are symbolic as well as destructive
Example:
Groups bombing public places to force political change
Militants attacking state institutions to establish ideological control
Important Reality
In practice, the line can become blurred.
A group may:
Start as bandits and later adopt political rhetoric
Fund terrorism through banditry
Operate as both criminal and ideological actors
Some governments may also classify armed groups differently for legal, military, or political reasons. One state may call a group “bandits,” while another labels them “terrorists,” depending on:
Threat level
Political implications
International law
Counterterrorism policy
So the core distinction is usually:
Banditry = crime for profit
Terrorism = violence for political or ideological purpose
let's see what Nigeria really looks like 👀 you can just comment:
Teacher: 100k/month or dispatch rider 90k/month

Morocco have been declared the winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after the Confederation of African Football (Caf) overturned the result of their final defeat to Senegal.
A statement from Caf said that Senegal are "declared to have forfeited the final match" with the "result of the match being recorded as 3–0 in favour" of Morocco.
The United States is widely considered the strongest military power in the world. Active soldiers: About 1.3 million active personnel Defense budget: The highest in the world (hundreds of billions of dollars yearly) Air power: Thousands of aircraft including F-22 and F-35 stealth jets Navy: 11 aircraft carriers (more than any other country) Nuclear weapons: Yes The U.S. has fought many wars for example Iraq, Afghanistan, Gulf War . and has massive global military bases. Even if a conflict happens far away, America can project power quickly.
In simple terms: When it comes to technology, funding, and global reach, the U.S. is on another level.
Israel is a small country, but militarily, it is very powerful and highly trained. Active soldiers: Around 170,000 (but many reservists) Missile defense: Iron Dome, David’s Sling, Arrow system Air force: Advanced F-35 jets Nuclear capability: Believed to have nuclear weapons Israel has fought and won several major wars: Six-Day War (1967) Yom Kippur War (1973) Multiple conflicts with neighboring groups Israel’s strength is not in size but in intelligence, speed, and technology. They believe in striking first if they feel threatened. You could say: Israel is small, but very sharp and dangerous in warfare.
Iran has a different military style. Active soldiers: Around 600,000 Missiles: Large number of ballistic missiles Drones: Very strong drone program Nuclear weapons: No confirmed nuclear weapons Iran also has the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which plays a powerful role in military and regional influence. Iran fought a long war with Iraq (1980–1988), which made its military experienced in defensive warfare. Instead of direct confrontation, Iran often uses proxy groups in different regions. So while Iran may not match the U.S. or Israel in air power, it has: Large manpower Strong missile capability Strategic regional influence Iran’s strength is more about endurance and regional strategy.
Talking about military strength is interesting, but real wars bring real destruction. These three nations are powerful in different ways. The real hope is that tension stays in politics and diplomacy , not full military conflict. Because in modern warfare, even the “winner” pays a heavy price.
inspiring1234: @tayu4real. Did you get your money back? I also fell into the hands of kyvatron company. He is refusing to pay me and he is not picking my call. He defrauded me to the tune of N14.1 Million naira. He claimed he is into bulk sale of USDT. I started with 100 USDT and the transaction was seamless. It was later that he texted me that he was into bulk sale of USDT and that it is counterproductive for him to be selling in small bits to me. He told me the minimum bulk purchase they sell to clients is 10,000 USDT. Immediately he collected the N14.1 million he never transferred the USDT equivalent to my bybit account. I have been texting and calling him but he refused to pick my call. Someone should please save a soul.
go to their head office and arrest any management staff you find there. But how can you trust someone with over a million naira in a faceless forum

In other words, the new tax rate is lower than the old tax rate. Then why the unrest and social media hype seems to make it looks like the former is better than the later. Maybe I'm not getting it

AyomideToks: For many months I have been learning how to code, I started out with HTML and CSS but as it is now JavaScript has been a problem to me. I have downloaded videos even books like <b> Eloquent Javascript </b> but I have not made any headway..At this point it is even looking like programming isn't my thing but deep down this is something I want to do. I would appreciate suggestions on how I can learn JavaScript and become a better developer
One thing I always advise a beginner is that you can't know it all. You complain about JavaScript. Here is the fact. Everyone complains about JavaScript at first.. in fact unlike html and CSS, JavaScript is a language. JavaScript is used as a backend language too. Frameworks are been built on top of it. No one in this whole wide world has mastered the whole of JavaScript. You only master the portion that concerns your world or craft. Here is what you should do: ask yourself what exactly do you need JavaScript for right now. Because you certainly must have created a static website using CSS and HTML... And now you needed a JavaScript.... But you needed a JavaScript to make something functional. What do you want to make functional in your website? Ask yourself that. If it's to make a button give an alert or to change a background color when something clicks on something or ... Just know what function you want to implement. Once you have succeeded in answering that question, go work on that... Learn JavaScript on that.. and that's how you grow in the language. Otherwise it will seems like a boring stuff and May get you stuck.... And one thing also. If you find yourself stuck in something, give it a break. Maybe a week. Learn other things.. and then come back to it. You will discover how grown and develop your brain has now become to give a good fight
In the interest of shining a spotlight on the coding talents on Nairaland, we are conducting a series of challenges.
The first one is a 3D Ludo Game challenge. This requires you to use AI to help you create an enjoyable Ludo game in a single html file using three.js via CDN to display the game in 3D. The Ludo rules are up to you to decide but must be made clear to the users.
Steps: Develop the game as specified (single html file) using git for source control. Push the source code to a private github repo before the deadline. After the deadline, make the github repo public and post it on this thread for assessment. If you touch or make any change to the repo after the deadline, you'll be disqualified.
Tips: Use a powerful AI Like Gemini 3 Pro (free on Google AI Studio and Google Antigravity) for planning. You will be graded based on everything that makes your game superior to other entries. Such as the unique features (very important), code quality, UI, and the sweetness of the game.
The prize for the best entry is N250,000. The runner-up gets: N125,000. The deadline is 10:00am Nigerian time on Thursday, the 18th of December, 2025.
mygee2: Boss I'm open to crossing what did I get wrong
I guess you are instructed not to make github repo public until 10am tomorrow morning. When your repo is private then the link will give a result as the image below
for(let i=0;i<24;i++){ const m = new THREE.Mesh(pathGeo, new THREE.MeshStandardMaterial({color:0x777777})); m.position.set(-10 + i, 1, -10); scene.add(m); path.push(m.position.clone()); }

Did it bring down the price of Petroleum in Nigeria? 🥱🥱...
Biodun556: South Africa Overtakes Nigeria as Africa’s Largest Fuel Importer. South Africa is currently Africa’s largest importer of petrol, a position it gained in mid-2025 after the Dangote Refinery significantly reduced Nigeria’s need for imported fuel. In the first quarter of 2025, South Africa imported 4.2 million metric tonnes of fuel, compared to Nigeria’s 3.1 million metric tonnes, according to energy consultancy CITAC.
Here in Warri I'm yet to see anyone on green and white... And no one is actually talking about it , it was just as every normal day.. where did the leaders got it wrong 🤦.. I rate it -1/10 😢
I don't think young people, in general, are focusing on their in-person communication skills as much as they should be. So much modern day communication occurs from behind a device that I worry many will never feel comfortable opening up to another person without some sort of a barrier between them. This can massively hinder friendships, relationships, and job prospects.
If you have a goal, put things in place and lay the groundwork.
Travel as often as possible.
If you want to learn or study something, do it.
Do not accept red flags from partners, especially if you are seemingly settling down with them - 10 years later you'll regret it immensely.
Do not accept bullshit, do not start bullshit, do not engage in bullshit.
Work hard. Train the body.
Learn to love the little things, this is probably my most important life lesson learned.
Your previous life choices took you to where you are now, if that situation sucks, reflect and figure out what went wrong, get out of the situation and move forwards or your future will be less appealing than it could have / should have been.
