A cousin of mine chatted me sometime around early this month to mention that she was invited to a test for a Remote job by an NGO called Greenacy and wanted to know if I've heard about them since I was into lots of Remote Job placement and stuff. To be honest, that was the first time I've heard of such company. I just asked her to look up the company online, to check out their social and organizational presence. That was all. But few days ago she contacted me again to say she got a follow up mail by same company asking her to do certain things including notarizing particular document. I became interested in the conversation and went online myself to look up this company. I did find tons of digital presence of this company including successive events and nearly 2000 followers on LinkedIn. My cousin was worried about the notary part requiring her to commit a minimum of NGN9,500 as I saw from the recommended Notary platform. I would say she had legitimate worry but again, it reminded of one of the remote jobs I started last year (Find screenshot of this job on this link: https://jkdigitalremoteskill.com/remote-job-starter-pack/ for your reference). I remember I had several altercation with the recruiter who contacted me for the job. I even remembered calling her a scammer (This was a white lady from UK; for the pain and sadness of what our world has become, I take back all the insults I labeled her). That job required me to sign all sorts of documents including undergoing a polygraph test. It was at the point of explaining that the company would send their representative for this and they will pay all expenses that I began to calm down small small. To cut a long story short, The job was 5000% legit with correct pay plus monthly performance bonus. Needless to say that before my resumption date, the salary was increased (You will find this also in the same link above) In fact, I was told I would be added to a Telegram group, which frankly as I see some of you argue here doesn't seem professional but that was legit and that was how they operated for over 5 years of their company's existence. If not for my NDA with the company, I would have shared all screenshots here for you to see including my series of confrontation with the recruiter on WhatsApp. With all the seemingly scamish appearance of that job, It turned out to be one of the best remote jobs I've done. I know it seems off in many ways for the company of our mutual contention here to be making any demand whatsoever that will take money out of candidates pockets, but you never know, it might just be part of their process. Not in their defense in anyway because scam these days has gone very high profile and extremely intelligent driven as it reminds me of one popular project called MBA Forex which some complainants in my former employer's Brekete Family Organization. I , (a.k.a CompletePackage in that program) witnessed first hand what I may consider one of the highest profile frauds in this country. People's money running into Trillions of Naira. The victims of that scheme brought on live broadcast (which you may still find online) videos of the launching of the MBA Forex heavily publicized with full fledged media broadcast on very top broadcast companies. We also noted the presence of very heavy Government presence including representations from the Presidency and the office of the SGF. In the end even some of the most careful Nigerians who knew about the MBA Forex issue, fell victim. My point is that, whether it's job, or investment, scam has gone highly intelligent and not just a game of cards. My Boss then used to say " Person wey use elephant set trap, na him know the kind animal him wan catch". Bottom-line, There may be some legitimacy in the Greenacy offering or Not, I however align with the thought process of the person who has said you should follow your instinct. Funny enough, my cousin who is the inspiration for this write up chatted me yesterday to say that she received a duly notarized document from the platform she summited to online with their full address and phone number showing on the notarized document and that she has since submitted the document to the company in question. So we wait and see, if the supposed scam can be proved or Not! PS: There are very legitimate Remote Jobs online and each comes with some requirement that I often found absurd like one client from Luxembourg asking me to wear only black shirts on some particular days.
