You can say "i do not support biafra and I wouldn't want referendum to be conducted in urhobo land"...if u say that, No one would pick offence, but When you say "urhobo people doesn't support biafra and no referendum should be conducted in urhobo land (just because you an urhobo man)"... this statement is not only annoying, but also fallacious.
Your igbo hatred springing up and I'd advice you conceal it. God bless you I wonder why he is scared of a referendum since he believes his people do not support Biafra |

kingzizzy: Confederation, while a good thing, is never going to happen in Nigeria.
Confederation failed at Aburi, it failed at the 1998 constitutional conference and it failed at the 2014 conference. The truth is that the North will never allow confederation, which is just an extreme form of Regionalism. The North holds more than enough voting power to stop any move towards confederation or true federation at the national assembly.
There is no group in the SW/SE/SS that does not want true federalism and resource control.
All the ethnic groups in the so called 'SS' from Urohbo, Ibibio, Itsekiri, Ogoni are all clamouring for control of their resources. But the truth is that it will never happen in Nigeria which is why they turn to militancy. After a while of doing militancy, the militant leaders are bought off with billions/amnesty and the militancy dies away until the money run low and it starts again.
So in essence, anyone who has not started thinking about leaving Nigeria is someone who is not serious about resource control or true federalism.
When is comes to the issue of Biafra, just like Nigeria, the colonial masters once drew a map of what they want Nigeria to be. They then embarked on a military conquest of of the indigenous people and forced all of them together into their Nigerian colonial dream.
The difference with Biafra is that while the agitators have also drawn their own map of Biafra, which includes Delta state, nobody is about to go on any conquest or force anyone into any false union. Biafra at this time remains a proposal which the indigenous people must first validate. Biafra is Biafra and Nigeria is Nigeria. We need a referendum to separate the two.
The reason why this referendum should be even more important to all the minorities of Southern Nigeria is that they have never had the opportunity to officially say what or who they are, Nigerian or something else. The colonial masters did that for us all. So a referendum is not just about Biafra, it is also a golden opportunity for all those who love Nigeria to express their love with their vote.
How can someone say they dont want Biafra but when offered a refendum to make this official, they say they dont want that?
Its a bit like saying you dont want to listen to music but when given the Radio, you say dont want to turn it off.
A referendum should be conducted so that the Nigerians and Biafrans can be separated and everyone goes their way. Perfect I wonder why the Op is scared of a referendum That is why I suspect fratermathy is an Afonja |

Every tribe Biafrans love will be given the privilege to reject Biafra at the UN Referendum polls so that in turn, they will be rejected at the borders of Biafra.
Biafrans will be instructed to avoid Nigeria and her citizens in any part of the world
Biafrans and Nigerians will be good neighbors who don't visit each other or step foot into each other territory except to travel to other nations. |

We are even the ones who will ensure necessary measure against the influx of refugees from the east. https://www.nairaland.com/fratermathyThere are 2 reasons you guys are scared of referendum by tribe 1) You know your people will accept Biafra in mass 2) You don't want to lose the goodies of Biafra since you guys know that at the border, you guys will be rejected Whether you guys accept referendum or not, Biafra will be a no go area for you guys since you guys believe it won't be good for your people As for our people, all will be instructed to avoid citizens of former Nigeria and Nigeria. Those who do not believe in Biafra, will never be accepted in Biafra no matter how much they plea. We will be good neighbors that do not visit each other. We will visit other West African countries but not former Nigeria. All those tribes who will reject UN referendum, will never be accepted into Biafra. If the entire Nigeria is undertaking the referendum on whether or not to remain in Nigeria, it is a different case entirely but if your referendum is about Biafra and those voting in your referendum are select ethnic groups then Urhobo-Isokos WILL NOT participate! Afterall, our refusal to participate implies disinterestedness. You guys can't eat your cake and have it Be bold like the Southern Cameroonians and face the choice of your decision We won't like to hear you guys giving us excuses to enter Biafra tomorrow when Nigeria becomes a complete disaster. Other tribes can join, but certainly not us. https://www.nairaland.com/fratermathyIf you guys aren't scared of the future, then reject Biafra at UN referendum polls so that we can be comfortable rejecting you guys at the border when it final becomes clear to you guys that Nigeria has no bright future |

Amberon: I perfectly understand your point. Nigeria is already a failed state and anyone denying that is living in delusion. I also understand that everyone has a right to self determination which is why we the urhobos through the umbrella of the urhobo body (U.P.U) have made our choice.
Understand that we have no issues with the actualization of Biafra, but the way most ipobs go about their struggle is absurd. Insulting and demeaning ND tribes that don't subscribe to the biafran dream.
Personally, I do not want to be in the same country with the Hausa/Fulanis as nothing good has ever emanated from that region. But I also do not want to be part of Biafra because of the many future uncertainties may arise. You ,fratermathy and the Urhobos do you guys now understand the need for the referendum In the referendum, you guys have a choice to reject Biafra for Nigeria so that we won't feel bad rejecting you guys at the border when you seek succor , comfort and refuge in Biafra. |

25 years ago, UAE didn't seem like they had a bright future. 50 years ago, China didn't seem like it had a bright future too.
fratermathy Since Urhobos believe in Nigeria having a bright future, then reject Biafra through a referendum so that tomorrow if Nigeria remains a failed state, we Biafrans will reject you guys whenever you people seek for refuge in Biafra and vice versa The purpose of the referendum is to have a clear justification not to grant any of you asylum in Biafra when it becomes clear to you guys that Nigeria can never prosper as a nation. |

fratermathy: These questions won't make us or any Urhobo for that matter, pledge to the Biafran project.
Nigeria is something we would be proud of for better or worse.
If we must leave Nigeria, we will map out plans for an Urhobo nation. Every ethnic group has a right to its own autonomous nation. I respect the Igbo's right to that. So, too, respect mine to that. Amberon If your comment is the true wishes of your people, so be it But your people will vote in a referendum so that tomorrow, we won't accept excuses of not being given an opportunity to reject Nigeria. The referendum will be done based on tribe so that every tribe will determine their direction. We will like not to accept people from those tribes that will reject Biafra in a referendum. For that reason it is good a referendum is conducted so that we can know those who do not believe in Biafra and ensure that they never find succor in Biafra. When Biafra stands, we will discourage Biafrans from living in Nigeria and vice versa for at least 50years Hope you now understand the need for a referendum |
Politics › Re: Why Are IPOBS Desperate Over South South Minorites? by ConqueredWest: 12:09pm On Mar 29, 2017 |
fratermathy: You see.. . We never asked for a referendum. You can't force one on us. We are not in confused about who we are. We don't have any identity crisis.
Referendums are done on requests and we haven't requested for any. You may have your referendum in the former Eastern region or Igboid groups, certainly not with us. We were never Biafrans nor do we intend to be. If a referendum is to involve us, then it must of necessity involve the Edos from whence we came, Yorubas with which we have more affinity, Hausas who have been friends to us, etc. In that case, it would be a nationwide referendum and we would be glad to vote for Nigeria over and over again.
If we are even to leave Nigeria, we will map out plans for our own nation. We can't leave a Lugardian project for another whatsoever! Until such plans materialise, we remain Nigerians in truth, body and spirit! You are dodging the real questions Does Nigeria have a bright future.? In 50years time, will Nigeria be a place you are proud of.? Tell your people to take their time and look well so that they can know what line of action to take. If by this time, Urhobos have not asked themselves the future of Nigeria, then it is a pity. Igbos want a country like US Japan Germany they can be proud of Nigeria will never be that country because the North will always oppose restructuring. Think while you and amberon hold tightly to one Nigeria Nigeria is not getting any better Look around you and project the future |

As for your questions: 1. Nigeria! 2. Nigeria!
This is not something we would think twice. The current Biafran agitation is not really known in Urhoboland. The few of us that have heard of it only did so online or in papers and what we make of it at the moment is that it is an Igbo affair. Since Urhobos have no affinity with Igbos and are indifferent to the Igbo cause, we don't show any sympathy to the Biafran agitation.

ehikwe22: No, Facebook is not my source of anything but being that our point of contact is online and the only way we can have a group of people airing their opinions synchronously or asynchronously is through groups or forums that's why I suggested that. No doubt we have some pro Igbo Enuani people and but majority of Enuanis are pro Anioma. This is my point. Pro Anioma in the sense that they're advocating Anioma as an Ethnic nationality because we're so heterogeneous and we've never really had anything to do with Igbo even from pre colonial and colonial era. If you are so much in love with Igbo, I think you'll have to pack up your things and run to the East because Anioma ethnicity has come to stay.
Majority of Ika Kingdoms were founded by Edo Royalties and warriors. Igbos are the slave here and anybody identifying with the Igbos is definitely a slave Ugomba, don't let this small boy cause you to despise our Igbo people (Ika) Imagine him saying that Igbos in Ika were former slaves The question he failed to ask himself is, those Igbos were slaves of who .?
