Yeah, I know. I sound crazy right? how the heck will a four months old ASUU strike turn out to be a blessing? no person in his/her right senses will ask such a question? These questions and more of its kind are flowing through your head right now.

But you see, the ASUU strike is a blessing in disguise, a blessing to you were too blind to notice, a blessing your heart was too bittered to accommodate, a blessing which only those who see with their hearts could notice. its so funny how four months had gone by like it was just yesterday.

Time was the precious of all resources you had in your arsenal, what exactly did you do through out this period? were you busy blaming ASUU for going on strike? were you busy blaming the Government for her inefficiencies to handle the problem on time? or you probably blamed your parents for not taking you to a private school or better still send you outside of the country to study.

Even while in school, you complained of less practicals you carried out in school, this past four months is a whole lot of time to conduct these practicals all by yourself, thanks to text books, lecture notes, handouts and even the internet to guide you.

you see, now you remember when you complained of no working experiences outside your lecture hall, the past four months would have been the perfect time to acquire one. what stopped you from serving as an office assistant or an errand boy in any organization you could learn some common practices regarding your curse of study with or without salary?

it was time to go out there to see what is real, a time for you to have gained experiences of the outside world aside from the four walls of your campus.

I can confidently tell you i made maximum use of my time during the striking period, i made money, i had more time to visit the library, i had more time to understand myself.

I had the opportunity to actually reflect on my life as a Nigerian youth, is my life going in the direction i want it? Is there any other thing i would have done differently to make a difference? in the next five years to come, how do i see myself? I'm i walking in the direction of my dreams?

All you did was to watch movies throughout, downloaded latest music, watch TV all day, sleep, wake up and eat. of course, the football freaks spent a bunch of their valuable time discussing football.

Hope you were able to learn one or two lessons from this short write up, I beg you dear Nigerian students to be more productive and constructive with your time, see good things/opportunities from every thing happening around you. make maximum use of every time you've got so you can compete globally.

I believe in the Nigerian youth, i believe in the strength and creativity embedded in the blood of every Nigerian. you can make something happen, go make something happen!

A Massachusetts woman has sued FedEx, claiming the company mistakenly sent her a package containing seven pounds of marijuana, then gave her address to the intended recipients, who later showed up at her door.

Maryangela Tobin of Plymouth said in the suit filed Feb. 12 that by disclosing her address, the company violated state privacy laws and put herself and her children in danger.

“I feel like the safety of my daughters and myself was invaded and it makes things complicated,” she told WBZ-TV. “I walk into my house first every time, my kids don’t.”
Tobin said she thought the package was a birthday present for her daughter, because when she opened it, she found candles, pixie sticks and peppermint. There was also something she thought was potpourri, but it was marijuana.

Tobin said that about an hour later, a man knocked on her door looking for the package, while two men sat in a vehicle in her driveway, waiting. She said she didn’t have it, and bolted and slammed the door. Tobin claims FedEx gave out her address, which led the men to her home.

He was dubbed the real Slumdog millionaire after he became the first person to win the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Like the hero of the Oscar-winning film, Sushil Kumar used his wits to win a fortune – but one year on, his life has changed only a little.

There are many ways you can spend a cool million dollars, but as he leads me into the corner of a dusty shed, Sushil Kumar shows me the first thing he splashed out on.

“This is my generator,” he says, beaming at his $500 (£310) purchase. “We get power cuts here for as long as four hours every day. Before I couldn’t watch the news and my favourite TV programmes, but now I have this there’s no problem.”

It was in fact his favourite television programme, which ushered Sushil Kumar into India’s millionaire’s club.

A year ago, the world watched as the government office clerk from Bihar, one of India’s poorest states, became the first contestant to scoop the top prize of 50 million Rupees ($1m, £550,000) on Kaun Banega Crorepathi? (Who wants to be a millionaire?)


Before his appearance on the show, Sushil, a psychology graduate, was earning little more than $100 (£62) a month. By answering 13 questions correctly, he pocketed more than he would have earned in 800 years.

The story made headlines around the world, because it was almost identical to the plot of the film Slumdog Millionaire, where a man from a humble background hits the jackpot on the quiz show. In the film you don’t find out how it changed the hero’s life – but you get the sense there is going to be a transformation.

Michael Carroll, the self-proclaimed King of Chavs, from Norfolk in the UK, won £9.7m ($15.6m) on the lottery, and spent it all in eight years

The family home is very basic. Each of the four main rooms has a double bed, in the corner of one is a small television. It’s here he lives with his wife, his mother and father, four brothers, two sisters-in-law and one child – 11 in all.

“Because we live in a very small town, my economic problems have been solved 100%,” he says. “I feel it’s a miracle nothing less. It’s God’s blessing.”

Sitting cross-legged on his bed, Sushil shows me another one of his purchases, his first ever computer, a small tablet. Last week he bought a scooter, the only vehicle he owns, even though he has enough money for several high-end sports cars.

Institute of Management Technilogy, Enugu has just released the result of the IMT 2012 post UTME conducted between October 3rd and 5th together with the IMT admission list 2012/2013.

25-year-old unemployed man, Ade Akindele, has been arraigned before Ojo Magistrate Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing a King James Version of the Bible valued at N1,000, from a shop.

Akindele, who had no fixed residence, was said to have become dazed after allegedly removing a black purse and a Bible from the table of one Miss Blessing Awodita (complainant), while she was asleep.

It was gathered that the accused, after allegedly stealing the Bible, stood in the shop for a while with the Bible in his hand, staring at the complainant who was sleeping, before he was nabbed.

The prosecutor, ASP Friday Eze, informed the court that when the complainant suddenly woke up from her slumber, she did not find it funny to see the stranger gazing at her, with her Bible and purse in his hands. He told the court that the frightened woman shouted for help and two of her male neighbours accosted the accused who resisted but was subdued by the men.

According to the prosecutor, “the accused was staying at the mechanic garage on Aka Road, off Salami Street, Afromedia, Lagos and committed the offence on October 9, at about 9.30 a.m., at Shop B, No. 22, Adebisi Close, Sabo Ajangbadi, Lagos.”

However, when the plea of the accused was taken before the magistrate, Mr. T.O Shomade, he first pleaded “guilty” but later changed to “not guilty,” to an offence that contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
