From internet research here 'n there, I heard most web-host seek higher prices for service much later when the web or domain is being migrated to another host. If you happen to know them well, please I hope mifihost isn't too harsh in that regard?

Well i can bet you they are not. You just pay the domain fee and when you intend moving your website you are free. but i dont think you will want to move your website by the time you experience the services and support those guys offer.

Buy a domain only from mifihost, send a mail to their support center telling them you want a free hosting account and what you want to use it for (support@mifihost.com). I can promise you, you will get a positive answer. This was also what i did and a friend taught me this. Now am on their paid server. Aside from that, you cant get a reliable free host anywhere

The dollar exchange rate is the major problem with foreign host, am also researching on a reliable Nigerian host to start with before I move on to foreign host.

You can get a foreign host that gives you a cheapest prices and also reliable. You will also pay the Same amout you pay as start up as renewal.

It's in two ways bro.

1* if the hosting account is yours. I mean, you own the account. Just request for the login details from him and tell him you want to take over from him.

2. If your websites is hosted on his own hosting account. Probably all he does is to request for a fee from you and add to it to renew the account. Tell him you want to move your website to another hosting that he should grant you an access.

NB: ensure you think over it we'll before you move to away from him cos renewal fees of some Web hosting is just too outrageous considering the current exchange rate. But then you can go for a Web hosting whose renewal fee is the same as soon as sign up fee. God Bless
