I don't see why its so difficult for you to understand that financial crimes are also part of their responsibility. When President Nixon was involved in the midnight break-in of the Democratic Party headquarters to manipulate things to his favor, a clear case of fraud, the USSS which was responsible for protecting him also investigated the case along with other bodies.
