Harjeehbaday: Apologies for not sharing the full story earlier....I have been trying to acclimatize.....so back to the story Myself and DH got to the airport around 8pm, we had to wait for some mins to allow the KLM passengers check-in...passed through the NDLEA peeps to search the boxes...I had a box with foodstuff and another with clothes etc... Finally we were set to leave at around past 11pm....the economy seats were not really spacious .....well fast forward to Paris.. We had about 2 hours stop over..flight was delayed for about 30mins...finally left at 8.50am ...while waiting to board I was having some pains and praying nothing should go wrong while still in Paris or on board to US... Landed at JFK at about 11 am. ...fortunately one of the officials passed me to the front line ...in less than 10 mins I was with the CBP officer.. CBP officer: why are you here? Me: to give birth CBP: Why the US? Me: need better medical care for my baby... CBP: How much do you have with you? Me: 4k dollars Cash with about 7k in cards CBP: you declare you have food items; what are they? Me: yam flour, cassava flour etc CBP: Any specialist doc you are seeing Me: yea, have an appointment with a doc on Tuesday. .showed him the appointment letter CBP: excuse me, I will be back in few mins Me and hubby were waiting on the counter and hoping there will be no secondary inspection cos we had 2 hours to catch the next flight... After 3 mains, CBP officer returned... CBP: your fingers pls...face up.....stamped us in till Dec 31st Na so we Waka enter the US oooo. At agriculture, the guy looked at my big Belle. ..seems you are ready to pop...all d best...collect our card ...bye bye Nothing was checked. ..na so my iru, ogbono, fish, yam flour, cassava flour, Maggi etc pass enter US ooo Tok the air train to terminal 5 and checked in Jet blue flight to Houston... It was a very tiring trip but I thank God everything went well... Yesterday I was having some pains...DH quickly called the hospital and I was told to come see the ER doc.got there in abt 10 mins. ..the nurse checked me and said everything was okay and I should go home... Chilling Independence day at home and waiting for my appointment tomorrow with Dr Amajoh... Sorry for the epistle....lol Congrats dear on successful poe.wishing you safe delivery of your baby. |

bubelahot: Hello mamas in the house. My missionary journey is over. All glory to God.back to naija after 10 wks.came into Houston on the 13th of April with emirate. Flight was long on my way to Houston 16hrs..... but thank God the flight was empty so I stretched out well. POE was uneventful. Gave birth at Houston methodist and my Dr was Dr Dama aka Dr Z. Was already 8cm by the time I got the hospital but when it was time to push,ha I no get strength again but God saw me thru.meanwhile the cord was around the baby's neck so with each contraction the heart beat reduced. Thank God I put to bed within 40mins of getting to the hospital.. Houston Methodist is top notch. Services are better than oakbend. The price difference is $35. However a compulsory epidural fee $1500 is paid which is refunded if not used. No additional charges becos I didn't use their pediatrician.got a visiting one which I paid $150. Got my zero balance from all the different docs involved. Flew emirate back n my whole 5 luggages was checked in. No extra payment becos I Don dey sweat for the extra money wey I go pay.... Layover was 15hrs but the hotel reservation was gd.no regrets with emirate. Baby's ticket was 10% of mine so it was $77 and i changed my date which cost like $50... Thank God for everything. Dr fee. 2600 with a further 20% discount Ultrasound $150 Test $270 Hospital. 2535 Pediatrician $150 Hope clinic hospital for baby's 1st visit + test. $100 Passport $165 Nigerian visa $360.. Used an agent Birth certificate $23 Good to be back home. ... Wishing all d preggies safe delivery...... All the mamas in the house una do well oooo.I salute una....

dialinn: Hi Jinglesbaby, was in Houston last April and met with managers of some of the apartment homes extremely close (within walking distance) to the hospital and Dr. Xydas office and after some interview sessions, a couple of them agreed based on certain conditions (like upfront payment) to rent 1b/2b apartments depending on my preference. The 1b which is my preference cost between $800 to $900/mth aside from other little fees like trash and water fee. There's also a refundable caution fee. To be honest, my physical presence in the US at that time made it extremely easy to discuss, negotiate and agreed with them on pricing. They however advised that we re-initiate further engagement a mth b4 arrival which would also necessitate actual payment.
Hope the foregoing provides detailed insight. Thanks Hi dear, how did you initiate your first contact with Dr Xydas and the hospital? Do you have their email address? Hope you don't mind sharing. Thanks |
