Stating the current mileage in the advert would be a plus but is not absolutely necessary. Seller cannot hide mileage from a buyer at inspection. The entire principle of this campaign rests on the seller providing enough information for a buyer to research a vehicle history and discover it's past. And other details about the vehicle that may be hidden by the seller. Of course a seller cannot hide current mileage. If the mileage has been rolled back, after a buyer has researched about this vehicle and has discovered the true mileage, if he inspects and the mileage is lower he would immediately know is it had been tampered with. VinTruth:I mentioned to you before on another advert where you made some false claims that this is evidence based. Do you have evidence that this particular vehicle mileage was rolled back? If you did then I would be the first to back your actions up and berate the seller for that criminal activity. I have not mentioned that the mileage was not altered, my point is, there has to be evidence of wrongdoing. If he had stated mileage 77k or something similar, then you would be justified. My position on acceptable disclosure has been clearly outlined in previous posts. 5 Likes |

As much as it is very vital to call out the dishonest ones who misrepresent vehicles, or post false information about their vehicles, or refuse to provide the VIN, It is also important to recognize when a seller has provided enough information about a vehicle for prospective buyers. The way you ran this VIN he provided and came up with these results, is the same way any prospective buyer would and find the same information. 6 Likes |

VinTruth:No, as a matter of fact. I've mentioned time and time again that sellers just posting auction pictures without the VIN is unnecessary and can be deceptive. The VIN is the most important thing. As long as a seller provides the VIN, does not make any false claims like accident free, and mentions any other significant information such as Flood history, he should be left to make his sale in peace. Only when the seller refuses to provide the VIN, or even does so but the vehicle has some severe history like flooding, should it be necessary to find and then post that history on his advert. 8 Likes |
