Hello brother, I am a graduate of Accountancy, my grade is not OK and I want to run a PGD to enable me upgrade. Do you know any university that I can run my PGD very fast in Nigeria or African country ? The uni must be well recognised ?

What do you mean by your grade isn't Ok? I know quite a number of university procedures, however, most federal universities won't take less than a strong 2.2 for their Pgd programme.

I'm graduating next year August and I will love to write NIM professional exam when I graduate, please do you know the procedures?

I also want to write ICAN exam, I'm studying economics so I have basic knowledge of accounting.

NIM is great. ICAN is also great too. Depends on which you want first. Personally, I'd rather you NIM before ICAN. And that's because of your startup pre-degree

Hello! I'm a graduate of physics from Abu, I currently work in a bank and I also freelance. I'm thinking of quitting to continue my studies. I'm a bit confused if I should continue in physics or IT. Note that I have strong interest in the IT field.

Hey Fam. I will advise you not to pursue physics here in Nigeria. If you really want to advance in physics, you might want to consider running it overseas.

Well, I know this because I had my first degree in Mathematics Education. I rolled with the physics students hence I can tell you authoritatively that running physics here in Nigeria will frustrate you.

You might want to strongly consider IT as a career path o. But then, what do you really want?

Education / The First Ever Course Advisor by courseadivsor: 6:13pm On Jan 04, 2017
My name is SeyiFunmi Meg Ricketts.
Proud citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Real omo ibile, born, bred and schooled in Lagos, here in Nigeria.

So when I speak ( in this case write), know that I not only do so from Intellectual knowledge, but also from Experiential Knowledge.
I am Nigeria First Ever Course Advisor for all admission seekers. So why this path?

Version A.
Well, maybe it's because I swam and survived 6 years of the university system as an undergraduate, and yes I did it in this 21st century, or maybe it's because im tired of seeing applicants in their torrents, both young and old desperately struggling year in year out to gain Admission into the university or any of our tertiary institution.

Had the fight ended there, I wouldn't have been too bothered, but like the popular aluta slogan... "struggle continua", a lot of Jambites or Freshers struggle all through their stay in the University. Who didn't, I did too and i have plenty course mates who did . Infact, some didn't survive it. Lol.

And it's not the struggle for survival as defined by Maslow in man hierarchy of needs, that one sef dey- but this one is the struggle to stay afloat.

See, the struggle to stay afloat in any course of study is real mehn. Especially when you are in a course you had the wrong impression of or one you completely had no clue of before applying - Course Misrepresentation.

You applied because you like the name or you believe it's juicy enough to secure you a lifetime table in GTB or Mobil. Better rethink! .

I remember my life as a four years student of Mathematics, Kai you go fear Mechanics and statistics naa. Many thanks to Gallant comrades like Ksquare, Femsam, Fisayo, Ajetaiwo ati berber lor who helped me stayed afloat.

Respect to fallen heroes...you all know yourselves( I know you can see this post, but don't worry, I won't say anything Lol).

Mathematics wasn't easy, lectures was tiring, most lecturers were mean, test were dreadful and exams were JoyKillers.

Holidays were the only times we get to be human. We would openly stand against ASUU strike, but in our mind we were secretly hoping and praying " mek dem never call am off now o".

And that was how I waddled and mumbled and ... you know until the thing finished me, well, almost finished me for I had to jump into another canoe going in a different direction, who wants to die.

Here I am today, running a programme in Guidance and Counseling, a veteran recounting my war story to upcoming new recruits - Be guided, let me guide you through the murky waters of higher Institution.

Three pitfalls I so need you to avoid are the Course BCM .

My second mission as an Educator is to adequately Inform & Prepare every admission seeker on what it means to select a particular discipline of study - you better be guided, why make a mistake you can avoid?

Come and learn from the survivors.
Let me help you gain clarity.

Have you registered for the Course Adviser Online Seminar?
If Not, you better do...

I am The Course Advisor and you don't have to walk alone again.

The Course Advisor™ Seminar - Maiden Edition

First of all , Introduction.

By now, I'm sure you all have been seeing the various adverts for Course Advisor™ Online Seminar, the first ever Nigeria Online Course Sensitization event for all Admission seekers . Couple of people have been trending it for me.

Shout out to every single person who has supported the movement by liking or sharing. The best is yet to come, I assure you.

I been getting inquiry emails already, im seriously considering an assistant soon, abi naa. All emails so far points to this question - What exactly is Course Advisor?

Hence this post.

But before I define, please read this.

Personally, I like breaking conventional codes. You see most people advise I put up an introductory post first, before rolling out adverts ; they said that's the way everybody does it, have been doing it,especially if you're just starting - but then I replied, I am SeyiFunmi Meg Ricketts, not everybody. I said since it's a rule concocted by someone and not a universal principle, then I'm not bound to follow it.

Ariwo koo nii Music jaree.

Besides, how can I allow myself be imprisoned by the very barrier I teach my students to break down? The same status quo I want to free so many teenagers from.

-----

Some others said I should build my tribe first before rolling out adverts, as in i should spend the whole 2017 talking about it, then people already know me for it, before organizing the seminar for 2018 - to this I nodded and said nothing, best to keep my mouth shut before they get into my head with rhetoric suggestions and zeal deflating needles.

----

Then few others advised I do it for free, shebi it's to attract them first, they added....

I lol, this one actually got me fluctuating between laughter and anger.
One of the mentality I intend to correct is this idea that everyone owes you a free meal, come on, even manna no longer falls from heaven. Some things you have to work for others you pay for few others you earn, then some come as gifts ( topic for another day).

I wondered if they know how studious I was with my research regarding this particular idea, monies spent buying books and gathering knowledge, time invested in reading, compiling and articulating my presentation. Couple of early hour sleep, I knew I had to be thorough with my information, because I know destinies are involved, the future is at stake and I can't afford mistakes. Every word counts!

I wondered if my so called kind advisers know that for every one word I understood concerning my subject matter The Course Advisor™, I had to learn and reserve at least 20 new words for backup sake.

I know my audience - they range from hopeful SS3 to staylite admission seekers , to the ignorant cyber cafe dude, to misinformed parents, to lots of uncultured school teachers, to misleading tutorial centers owners, to the various unconcerned school admin, plus the genuinely interested but helpless Educator.

And for each category, I have prepared a completely different approach because I know my audience speak different languages, and I have to connect with them with their vernacular . I did all this because a trained Learning Facilitator knows before she can bring anyone to her level of truth, she has to meet them at their present reality, and you don't do that speaking greek, do you? No, I thought so too.

Now i spent time doing all this for me to give them out free? No way! I won't pretend I'm not interested in the business side of this highly needed and timely Product , but beyond that, I am insanely Passionate about my message, and I am willing to pursue it intentionally because Education is My Domain.
I am not afraid to put a price on it.

Not forgetting these are people who paid , will still pay thousands of Naira just for special centers result that can't even sustain them through their university first year.

I submit that they pay my own token.

So, apologies to those whose suggestions I discarded. I sincerely wish I could, but You see Course Advisor™ was borne of deep critical thinking session and sweat ( my anger at students frustrations and how to help them solve this problem).

Pardon me, but i won't allow sentiment tamper with my vision. This is one of my reformative brain babies for the Nigerian Education Sector. Couple more to be unleashed next year.

So, back to the Question, what is Course Advisor™?
Will do another post on that tomorrow.
Until then,

I remain Nigeria First Ever Online Course Advisor for every one seeking admission into tertiary institution.

And my brand Promise is this
... You will never walk this path confused again.

Education / The First Principle Theory by courseadivsor: 8:46am On Dec 21, 2016
#SeyiFunmi-Writes-on-Education
#RebirthofEducation

Elon Musk and his theory of First Principle Reasoning.

I am deeply passionate about Education, and like the late Apple CEO, I also intend to make an impactful dent in that sector.

Early yesterday morning, i read an article on Medium.
Elon Musk, one of the most daring Entrepreneurs of our time gave us a peep into his thinking session.
Yeah, same Elon of Tesla Motors, founder of Paypal, you know. etc...

He said and I quote from James Clear medium post
" I think it is important to reason from first principles rather than by analogy. The normal way we conduct our lives is we reason by analogy ".

So, let's bring this theory into the battered mindset of almost every student seeking admission into tertiary institutions.

What is the real purpose of the Academic Environment? ( Nurs - Uni ).
- Education from the first principle.
- School from the first principle.
- University from the first principle .

But first, what exactly is A first Principle Theory? - I redefined it as the most basic way of looking at a specific thing to understand why it occurred or exists in the first place.

In the First Principle Theory, you trace back to the first time a thing occurred or existed, you try to get to the root of a thing, you find out the basic truth about that thing, the how's, what's and why's.

You see,no one climbs a ladder from the top, you begin from the lowest rung. To get the best out of school, from lower to higher learning, you've got to know
- Why it existed and why you're there.
- What you want from it.
- How you want to use the knowledge acquired to better your lot and the society.

Most admission seekers have been made to believe that the university exist just for the certificate, afterall you can't get a posh job without one, and the more certificate you gather, the better your chances of securing the choicest seat in that blue chip company.

So
- You believe it's true you must get at least a bachelor's degree before you can land a plum job. Abi? True.
- You think it's true you must enter the university or any tertiary institution to acquire this bachelor degree, right? True.
- You also know that it's true you have to apply and pass the JAMB UTME before you can enter the university shey? Another True. Good.

Now that's your truth.
The truth as you have come to know it as per that's how it has been displayed to you over the years - you have always believed that the real reason why you're applying to JAMB is so that you can enter the university because our society has conditioned you from the first moment you stepped into nursery school that a University certificate so that you can work in the bank or government ministry is the goal.

But that's not the Truth. Oti, that's not the entire picture.

You see, half truth is as dangerous as ignorance. It is said that where purpose is unknown, abuse is inevitable. Reason why many go to school without much results is because the purpose has never been sold to them.

Primary school pupils don't even know why they have to write Common Entrance, The Junior Secondary students believes JSCE is the exam for Senior class.

The SSS student believes all he needs to enter school is 5credits, doesn't even know why he writes WAEC sef, but he knows he has to pass it and Jamb, else his hopes of entering school will be crushed.

The Jambite sha wants to do quick quick and pass out so that he can serve and get his pali which he need to get a job.

I think it's time to break the vicious cycle of fruitless academic pursuit.

Most people are even losing hope in the school system sef, and that's because it's purpose is unknown.

It's a lie.

A degree is not the goal, infact a degree is not designed to help you get a job, it is designed to certify that you are FIT for the job, and the University doesn't exist just to dispense certificates every quarter-dozen.

Which brings us back to the question - Education from the first principle : what is the real purpose of School?

Tomorrow I will begin a series on the Real Purpose of Education from the First Principle.

Its going to be an informative one, you see I believe a society cannot be better beyond the quality of its citizens, and citizens will never be fully developed outside the Academic Institution.

To all brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, parents, teachers, cousins, students, whatever - we need to start reselling the real purpose of school to those around us if we really want transformation in our society ,i believe I can furnish you with the basic informations you need to know.

Knowledge is still a major market, particularly relevant information , however Purpose has to accompany every knowledge acquired.
