Yeah we aware about the 3 X jf17 fighter jets but how long his it going to take in procuring such cheap aircrafts, it's quite annoying.

I take exception to..."cheap aircrafts". I emphasize they are not cheap aircrafts. They are good value for money considering the capabilities they bring to bear for that price—A price impossible for western aircraft with comparable capabilities.

The NAF knows what its buying. A lot of developments is still going into that aircraft accounting for the delay so far. This smart buying is what Trump is now teaching the Americans. It's a waste buying overpriced birds.

That claim is fault and many have countered the claim.

Seriously in this Abuja? Except u're not in the system or you're listening to talking heads on TV. Who countered the claim, a politician?

Suspicion is everywhere. There's bad blood in the hierarchy of the Agency not least because of the way the former Acting DG was treated, left high and dry to fight for his life. The current DG is hibernating at the Villa because he can trust no one at least that's one reason being gossiped. When last was he at the NIA?

For those that know the ONSA very well, that office accommodate all security agencies which include Army, Navy, Airforce, DIA, NIA, CIA, Police and Civil defence. Their role is well spelt out even within the Office of National Security Advicer. They All have their role even though the goal is the same. Expect nothing more or less from AFSF too.

Today no one knows exactly what is clearly spelt out as what obtains in theory historically is not what obtains in practice especially under the current administration that doesn't seem to know how to decipher hierarchy between agencies and roles leading to friction between agencies. Even the most elite of intelligence agencies apart from the DIA such as the NIA is left bereft of pointed direction as it's new head basically is AWOL at the presidency.

To be clear though the military and other services have agents and officers seconded to the ONSA for running it's wide operations, however the Military under the DHQ which formed and controls the AFSF reports to the Defence Minister NOT the ONSA.

For educational purpose

What then is the mission of this Police/nscdc men.

The ONSA coordinates their use in situ (north-east theater of operations) with the DHQ depending on exigencies but it must be stated that they are not known to engage in direct combat except auxiliary para-military roles like stop & search, raids and checkpoints etc in BUA. Some like the DSS, Police CTU or NSCDC Special Forces have proven effective in such roles albeit not in the line-of-fire.

At other times they report for duties under their respective commands depending on orders from above but they are not members of the AFSF whose members are only drawn from the Armed Forces and clearly wear the patch from the Defense Headquarters.

Pointless arguments are unnecessary.

Bidexii is also not in the military.

Already, Nigerian security personnel from the Army, Police, Department of State Services (DSS) have been dispatched to Russia for training as Special Forces to combat the Boko Haram insurgents who are mounting stiff challenge to the Nigerian security services.

As part of the agreement between Nigeria and Russia, a group of Nigerian security personnel are already in Eastern Europe for training as Special Forces with another batch, made up of the Army, Police and DSS billed to leave Nigeria next month to join the other three batches that are already in training.

Nothing is pointless in my point.

Security agencies are not the Military. That they are trained for COIN which is a known doesn't make them members of the AFSF that take their orders directly from the CDS.

And Bidexii is a fine officer of the Nigerian Army and should be respected.

Members of the DSS and Police are part of the AFSF. AFSF is funded and coordinated by the Office of The National Security Adviser.

Members of the DSS along with Policemen and SF from the Navy, Army and Air Force were selected and received same training.

Off course the DSS won't be deployed like regular SF from the military in front line combat, there's would be covert deployment.

No Henry, only the Armed Services provide members of the AFSF. Bidexii is right on this one. Other security agencies trained for COIN partake in operations but are not members of AFSF.

Btw Bidexii is a respected officer and gentleman of the Nigerian Army, he knows what he's talking about.

It's not the joint command of SOF, from the 3 arms of the military.

The military special forces environment his well sorted with clear objectives.

Don't talk what you don't know.

Certainly he shouldn't talk about what he don't know but his point is buttressed with the fact that under the current administration everything is muddled up as no one knows exactly anymore which is which a trait of inconsistencies since they came onboard from using Army VIP protection for presidential security to reverting again to SSS (DSS) cover. So from the face of it he's got a point.

But is it well sorted out? That's not very clear as there are overlapping use of various SF units for simultaneous tasks appearing under the banner of AFSF even if they are not originally members. Original AFSF combat operators carry the tag of ID and are drawn from the Armed services of the Army, NAVY & Air Force and trained abroad. However the chain of command is well sorted out for the AFSF which is directly under Defense HQ.

He mention the free $1.8b cash the Obama government gave the Iranians, and said Nigeria will need such kind of money grin grin grin

Is it me alone or did anyone else notice that President Trump had a press conference with President Buhari in the Rose Garden? Making the Nigerian leader the first of Nigerian leaders at least in modern times apart from Tafawa Balewa and also the first of sub-saharan African leaders to be so honored. Thats unusual for Washington to do so for an African leader. It speaks volumes and not least respect and goodwil from the present US administration.

I beg to disagree. The unit was formed as a direct response to Boko-Haram. Not really to carry out covert missions abroad.

The SBS on the other hand are a more broad based unit. Hence their ability to carry out operations abroad such as in Mali and Gambia.

So if there were to be a covert mission abroad, the Federal Government is most likely going to send the SBS, even the QRF from the Air Force before the AFSF which might not even be mentioned. Even though the AFSF is more skilled.

Saying same thing. I meant AFSF in respect to BHTs. The AFSF haven´t been deployed outside the northeast.
