Socialsunny14: No, your wrong. Somebody who's rent has already expired is not entitled to six months. Notice to quit in that context is served during the existence of a lease. Supposing I am a yearly tenant, I am entitled to 6 months notice to quit before the expiration of my lease not after expiration.. yes, thanks for the correction |

arthurwillia: Ok so to the main issue I have this tenant, his rent was due in oct ending and I asked him to renew, he didn’t pleading and I gave him a time frame and he didn’t meet up, so is he entitled to 6 months quit notice? yes he's entitled 6 months quit notice. But before that serve him with owners recovery of premises so that he will know after his 6 months you can arrest him & charge him to court if he doesn't leave. But for now don't take law into your hands. Patience is key when dealing with tenants under our law |

arthurwillia: Is it right to disconnect the light of a tenant who isn’t owing for light for two months? if it's in the tenants agreement, then easy yes. But if it isn't still yes. If the tenant wants light badly he/she should pay up. |
