I'm a bit torn on this news when I saw it on my Google TL yesterday. On paper, he's an adult being inappropriate with a kid which is punishable by law. Military officers can't be tried in a civil court. The government is using the terrorism angle. This will not fly. If they attempted a coup, only a military tribunal can sit in judgement against them.

This was the case before the 1999 constitution came into existence however. I don't see how the government can prove its case of treason. Except they have correspondence and recordings, this case will fall flat in court.

We are in a digital age where coup potters have the right to defend themselves and because the world is watching. If found guilty, they will face death penalty or the president will commute their penalty to life inprisonment

Obafemi Hamzat is a perfect candidate over and above Ambode. He is quiet, patient and loyal party men. He had twice given up his chances to become the governor for the same Ambode and Sanwoolu. This is his time. The problem is that quiet personality like him often get intoxicated by power when he gets to the office like Fubara. Time will tell. With Hamzat as the APC candidate, other parties do not stand a chance.
