@Orikinla, I am kinda curious as to why would you say Mandriva is crying wolf, I followed your links and did my own little research, and I came up with the following 1. Mandriva actually posted the details of the "deal" on their main website for the entire world to see. I don't think they would have made such a stupid error as telling the world they had closed a deal, whereas the hadn't. 2. Microsoft bullies, and we are corrupt, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to put two and two together. Remember Netscape. 3. Our government representatives in this deal actually told Mandriva that they would still pay for the software, but would later install windows over the Classmate PC's. In other words we will be paying for 2 different packages (OS'es) on per PC, can someone please yell MISAPPROPRIATION! I realise that its all honourable to stand up for one's country when we are being whitewashed outside but lets be real, honest and blunt with OURSELVES. What is wrong is wrong, that which is unethical is unethical. Or Orikinla do you think that the payment for their software is all that is at stake here for both parties, Enlighten us. |
press F1, that would probably take you to ur BIOS settings, from there locate the plug and play settings tab and check ur settings , if plug and play has been disabled then there's the source of ur problem |
Basically, I feel the issue here is that our democracy, our society isn't just mature enough yet, to embark on social security yet, there are many issues that still send us spinning when they arise, I mean issues that less developed nations wouldn't even have issues resolving are the ones that leave us stumped for years, The Ettehgate scandal is just one of them. So for now, I believe social security is a just pipe dream, my two cents. |
Twenty six years ago the microprocessor revolution found a software catalyst - a tiny BASIC interpreter that ran in 4K of memory. You've probably heard of two of its three authors - Paul Allen and Bill Gates, who'd incorporated the company 'Micro-Soft' in Albuquerque the same year. But what not many people know is that there was a third guy, Monte Davidoff, who wrote the floating point algorithms for the interpreter, which by the way was one of its strong points. Paul and Bill went on to be the biggest billionaires in the IT field and Davidoff just faded into obscurity. Last that was heard, he had founded a consulting company called Alluvial, anybody heard of it? I didn't think so. But It just got me wondering, did he have a fallout with the rest, or wasn't he smart enough to keep up ? Or could it have been that he didn't see the future that they saw, Talk about fate's cruelty! Or shall I say one man's "dulling" |
@bumsen It would help if you were more specific as to the nature of your PC's problem You said it (your system) would make a funny sound and then freeze (hang), now this sound, is it a sharp beep, an annoying clicking sound or a whirring sound, you know, the kinda sound you get when something is caught in a fan. Be more explicit, that will help us narrow the problem. Cheers. |
pheesayor, Removing the computer's CMOS battery resets the BIOS settings, I assume that the system in question is a desktop. Make sure the battery is out for lets say 3-5 minutes. Then replace it and your BIOS settings would have been reset. Cheers. |
I really think AVG has been "overhyped a little, kaspersky would be a working and practical solution. Cheers. |
