Abuja. Nigeria's war against corruption appears increasingly selective, with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) facing accusations of turning a blind eye to glaring cases involving public officials, while aggressively pursuing others. This skewed pattern undermines the agency's credibility and fuels public cynicism about genuine anti-graft efforts. Central to recent controversies is the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Hussaini Ishaq Magaji (SAN). Reports allege that Magaji, whose monthly net salary is about ₦583,000, acquired two luxury duplexes in Abuja's upscale Jahi district, each valued at ₦350 million—totaling ₦700 million—within two years of his appointment in 2023. Sources claim the properties feature imported German solar systems worth ₦70 million each and Chinese gym equipment valued at ₦50 million, alongside sound-proof cinemas. Magaji is also accused of tampering with company records in a disputed multi-billion-naira estate case, defying directives from the Attorney-General. Similarly, billionaire Aliko Dangote has accused Farouk Ahmed, CEO of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), of spending $5 million on secondary school fees for his four children in Switzerland—an expenditure far exceeding a public servant's legitimate income. Dangote demanded a probe, labelling it economic sabotage through biased licensing favouring imports. These contrast with cases like former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello's ongoing trial, Abubakar Malami's Abacha loot queries, and perceived leniency toward defectors like ex-Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. For the EFCC to regain trust, it must investigate all allegations impartially, regardless of political affiliations. Selective justice breeds impunity and erodes faith in institutions. |
If Dangote run for president , he will easily win . The ADC must convince him to run |

The Lukewarm Betrayal: How PDP's Timid Leaders Enabled Wike's Wrecking Ball By curious Insights In the treacherous arena of Nigerian politics, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) — once Africa's grand old party — teeters on the brink of oblivion, its demise orchestrated not by a formidable foe but by a rogue insider: Nyesom Wike, the pugnacious former Rivers State governor turned Federal Capital Territory minister. As of December 10, 2025, with the PDP's National Working Committee tenure expiring amid court battles and expulsions, Wike's shadow looms larger than ever, a stark testament to the party's self-inflicted wounds. Yet, the true architects of this collapse are the PDP's own leaders, whose chronic lukewarmness — a toxic brew of indecision, appeasement, and fear — handed Wike the tools to dismantle the institution from within. The rot began in earnest during the 2023 presidential primaries, when Wike, spurned in his bid for the ticket, rallied the "Integrity Group" and G5 governors into a mutiny against Atiku Abubakar. Rather than confront this betrayal head-on, PDP elders dithered. Reconciliation committees, led by figures like Bukola Saraki, convened endless summits, offering olive branches to a man who boasted of engineering Atiku's defeat to bolster APC's Bola Tinubu. Wike's reward? A plum ministerial post under Tinubu, fueling whispers of covert alliances that eroded PDP's cohesion. The party's National Executive Committee, paralyzed by factional feuds, failed to invoke disciplinary measures, allowing Wike to straddle loyalties: sabotaging PDP campaigns while clutching his membership card. This timidity metastasized. By mid-2025, Wike withdrew from reconciliation deals, lambasting allies like Oyo's Seyi Makinde for "betrayal." Factions splintered further, with Wike's camp clashing over the national secretary post and boycotting conventions. The PDP's response? More half-measures. Governors' forums issued tepid warnings, but no decisive purge ensued until November's chaotic Ibadan convention, where a Wike-loyal faction — backed by a high court order — expelled the minister, Ayodele Fayose, and Samuel Anyanwu for anti-party antics. Wike's retort: Dismissal as "drunken decisions," followed by fresh lawsuits to nullify the gathering.Conflicting rulings from Abuja and Ibadan courts have now balkanized the PDP into irreconcilable camps, one wielding Tinubu's patronage, the other grasping at judicial lifelines. What explains this freefall? PDP chieftains, from interim chairman Umar Damagum to elder statesmen, prioritized short-term harmony over survival. They underestimated Wike's vendetta, viewing him as a "mere member" whose tantrums would fade. Instead, his influence — amplified by federal largesse — lured defectors and starved PDP coffers, paving the way for APC dominance. As Saraki warned, more hemorrhaging looms without resolve. Today, with the NWC's clock ticking out, the PDP stares into an abyss of extinction. Wike, the unlikely spearhead, didn't act alone; he thrived on the vacuum of leadership. For the party that once toppled military rule, this lukewarm surrender is not just tragic — it's a cautionary epitaph for opposition frailty in Nigeria's zero-sum game. |
Seyi deserves every cent of security he currently rolls with. Lots of agebro are rooting for his head daily |
