Happy new month Mothers



My Birth Story


With my history of porting before my EDD in my previous birth(Had my first 36 weeks and my second 34 weeks) I was certain that by 36 weeks latest my bundle of joy will be in my arms so I packed and got ready for delivery.


34 weeks came and also 36 weeks I was still pregnant. I started looking for natural ways to induce labour. I tried grape as I was asked to and it did not work. I was then asked to use Castor oil but I decided not too.


I made up my mind that I'll try sex if it will work. Hubby left his base in the evening on 15th of Feburary and he was on transit all through the night. We spoke whenever I went to wee. By few mind to 1am on the 16th, I started having contraction;a bit painful but i decided to wait till 5am so I can wake my mum. By 4am, I decided to wake her up so we can gist till 5am. She suggested that we go to the hospital immediately.


She prayed and i took a warm bath and we got to the hospital by 5.13am. Had to wake the nurses from their quarters. There was power outage and the nurses came out with rechargeable lamps. They got my file, checked my details and I walked to the delivery room.



The contractions were coming every 5 mins by now and the pain was something else. She told me she was going to burst my water and she inserted something into my vj and my water flowed out. That was when I knew I was in labour. I started screaming and she asked me to breathe with my mouth. I tried doing that and it was helpful but at some point I stopped and started screaming again. I told her I wanted to push and she said I should not try it yet the urge to push was there. I kept forcing myself not to push and the baby was trying to come out. She gave me the go ahead to push and I begged her partner to hold my hands. She did and in 2 push, my prince was born at exactly 5.28am weighing 3.17.



He came out crying and i was asked to confirm the sex of my baby and I did. He was taken away and the nurse kept tapping my stomach and had to inject my left lap and later my right lap to aid delivery of the placenta. Placenta came out and I was cleaned and asked to go to the ward.


Baby and Mother was discharged few mins to 3pm same day.

Baby came this morning at exactly 5.23am weighing 3.7kg without tear.

Mother and baby are back home already. Indeed God is faithful.

Safe delivery to all preggy mamas

My neighbor told me dt when she was in her last weeks of pregnancy, the scan measured that her baby was 3.5kg. The doc said the baby is big and told her to do lime and lipton therapy for 5 days morning and night.
It worked for her, as when the baby was delivered, she weighed 2.8kg.

I don't think it works jor as most times scan measurement is not really accurate.


Let's wait for other mamas view though.

No idea but you can type the key word "epidural" in the search box, relate your search to health section and see if it has been discussed here before

Pls mamas, how do I know original flask (for hot water)? What products should I look out for? Tanks in advance.

I have used Gint for 5 years+ and still counting. The water stays hot for days.


Back in the days, they check for original flask by putting it in your ear to hear one hollow sound but that's not a guarantee anymore.



Anywhere you get it from, just tell them that you will test it and return it if the water does not stay hot for 3 days at least that was what I did and they agreed.



Another thing with flask is that the bottle can be changed. I sent someone to change one I had that slipped and got broken and she did it in Onitsha. Flask came back brand new and hot also.

I haven't packed for the hospital yet but i will soon. Let me share my list with us.

For mom:
1. Toiletries (bathing soap, cream, toothbrush and paste)
2. Sanitary pants/ pads (4 packs)
3. Toilet rolls (4 rolls)
4. Clean wrappers
5. Night wears, maternity bras, etc
6. Rubber slippers
7. Small black cellophane bag and old newspapers (disposables aren't disposed here without pre-packaging, which makes the waste bin less yucky)

For baby:
1. Toiletries (baby costmetics of your choice)
2. Baby wears (body suits, sleep suits)
3. Olive oil, menthylated spirit, cotton wool, cotton buds, antiseptic lotions
4. Baby shawls, baby sweater, socks, caps
5. Baby cup and spoon
6. Baby diapers
7. Flask for hot water

For those who are expecting to stay in the hospital for longer than a day, like me, start making plans. Pack extra everything or at least arrange for stuff to be brought to you from home during every visit. If you're a book person, take a novel with you. Personally i plan to have plenty movies to pass the time cos it gets pretty boring from day 3.

One more thing, ensure you ask questions during your antenatal classes concerning your birth center's policies so you can avoid unpleasant situations. If they are the kind that love to hold on to your leftover cotton wool or disinfectant or stuff like that, buy small packs of those things so you can leave them there without a fuss. If they are the kind that won't supply you hot water, arrange ahead for yours. Just prepare for the hours or days after birth, so there are no surprises.

I can't wait to start seeing our baby pictures. There shall be no loss in Jesus' name. Amen.

I took this week too. Too sweet to resist but I dey look Zobo with side eye.

Sad story

The only choice I can see here is for you to engage in menial jobs or get someone to teach you a skill for free then you start from there.

850k is a lot of money.

Guess you are in the East. It's the beginning of a new year. Just start from somewhere and remember you have your younger brother to take care of.
