When someone says app developer, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? A nerdy guy in ruffled clothes, wearing glasses, and peeping at the computer screen, writing code? In reality, it goes way beyond that. Most app developers are actually human beings like you and I. InMobi-chart Mobile advertising firm, InMobi did a survey covering over 1000 developers, and opened our eyes to many realities of the app development ecosystem. Below are few of the highlights lifted from the full report: Globally 91% of app developers are male, 6% are female, while 3% preferred not to disclose their sex. Am very sure some of us must have been a victim of purchasing a fake SD card one way or the other , it is a something we cannot escape as long as you are buying from a 21st century market. Manchester United are prepared to spend up to £150 million to sign Real Madrid’s Gareth Baleand Bayern Munich’s Arjen Robben in a “sensational double swoop,” according to Luke Gardener of the Daily Star. Miguel Delaney of ESPN FC wrote Bale could be let go by Real Madrid this summer, while Fichajes (h/t Gardener) claims the Red Devils are also tracking Robben, with his former national team manager Louis van Gaal a big admirer of the player. According to Gardener, those two deals could amount to £150 million. If these reports are to be taken at face value, then it’s clear United have a particular player in mind. Both Bale and Robben are strong, powerful and dynamic runners with the ball who love to float into dangerous areas and take shots with their left foot. They are at different points in their respective careers, though. Bale is a player with his best years ahead of him. Bale is at the start of his peak years. This season the 26-year-old’s showcased his finest form for the Welsh national side, helping them qualify for the European Championships next summer. For Real Madrid he’s also shown some signs he’s set for a strong season after the disappointments of 2014-15 too. As we can see here courtesy of Real Madrid’s Twitter feed, the Welshman has been looking sharp ahead of this weekend’s crunch clash with Barcelona: Read the rest @ http://shadowns.org/index.php/2015/11/18/manchester-united-transfer-news-gareth-bale-arjen-robben-double-raid-rumoured/ |
iPhone vs Android: 15 common features in Android phones that you won’t find even in the newest iPhones : “If you don’t have an iPhone…” you probably have an Android phone (actually you are more likely to own an Android phone). And we give you 15 reasons to feel a little more pleased with your choice of phone. The iPhone that revolutionised the smartphone market is now in its 9th generation with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. But there’s a long list of features that these top-of-the-line phones don’t possess that many much-humbler Android devices do. 1. Universal charging interface: The scene of an iPhone user frantically asking around for a compatible charger is reminiscent of the Nokia ‘thin-pin days.’ The absence of a standard charging interface (supported by other platforms) can make iPhone users feel incapacitated at times when their phones run low on battery. The iPhone charging woes doesn’t end at that. The connector used in older iPhones 4/4s were different from the ones used in iPhone 5 and above. For an Android user, life is much simpler. With most Android phones being equipped with a charging interface that is more or less an industry standard, there is not much trouble in finding that friendly charger. The next move to USB Type-C is already on. Apple has included it in the new MacBook but will it be included in the next iPhone? 2. USB OTG (on-the-go): With a limited storage space on most phones, it’s not always possible for you to store everything that you need on your device. And that is when the OTG capability on Android phones (not a standard feature, but available on many phones) comes to the rescue. The OTG feature on phones allows you to simply connect a pen drive to your phone (via an OTG cable) and voila! Some pen drives even come with built-in OTG support. But if you are an iPhone user, this isn’t as easy and as readily available as for Android devices. 3. Wireless charging: While it’s a high-end feature and is currently available only in a few flagship Android phones, but not yet in any of the iPhones. 4. Dual-SIM support: I personally know a couple of users who moved from iPhone to Android merely because of the absence of the dual-SIM support in iPhones. This might not be so desirable a feature in Apple’s home market but in countries such as India, having two SIMs is often a necessity and this is becoming more of a norm for Android phones rather than an exception. 5. Expandable storage: There have been security and performance concerns about the inclusion of additional storage (via a microSD card) in a phone. And therefore, you will see companies taking different stands on this. While Apple has been sticking to its old idea of not offering an option to expand storage memory, the Android market is fragmented in this context. While majority of OEMs like Samsung, LG and Sony are of the opinion to have a microSD card slot in phones, others like Google, which has its OS running on all Android devices doesn’t prefer to offer additional storage on its Nexus devices. Xiaomi, on the other hand, has a mix of both (expandable and non-expandable models) in its Android product portfolio. Despite this, most Android users have an option to make a choice if they want phones with additional storage or remain comfortable with only built-in memory. On other hand, iPhone users need to just manage with the limited storage available on their phones. Even though iPhones come in different storage variants they are accompanied with deterring price tags. Chelsea could bolster their attack with the acquisition of AntonioCandreva from Lazio, as further rumours circulate about the future of Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge. Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.com (h/t Will Giles of Metro) said Blues owner RomanAbramovich has contacted the Serie A club to enquire about the attacker as he considers stealing him away from the Stadio Olimpico. The experienced Italy international features predominately on the right wing, and he would allow manager JoseMourinho to freshen up his options in January. The 28-year-old is a tactically disciplined individual, and he is the type of player the Special One enjoys having at his disposal. Giles added Chelsea are “likely to make wholesale changes” in the forthcoming transfer window, and Candreva‘s speed and set-piece taking would be an asset to the falling Premier League champions. Former Arsenal forward Paul Merson has encouraged Manchester United to move for Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale next summer, even if there is a chance of Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Old Trafford. Both Bale and Ronaldo have been linked with a move to the Red Devils recently, per Simon Mullock of the Daily Mirror. Of the two superstars, Merson thinks at the moment, despite Ronaldo’s undeniable quality, he is a “selfish” player and the Welshman would be a better fit for United, per the Daily Star: I’d take Bale over Ronaldo any day. If you’re giving one of them a four-year contract, you’d get far more out of Bale over four years. However good he thinks he is, Ronaldo is not going to be scoring 30 goals a season and terrorising defences when he’s 34. But it’s not just that. Bale is a team player. He’d fit in under Van Gaal. He works harder and he’s willing to work back for the team. He ticks every single box and signing him would be massive for United. I can’t see them winning the league with this team because, although they’re hard to beat, they don’t score enough goals. Bale would change that in a heartbeat. Every club needs a star forward these days and he’d be a massive coup. Battery life has been always a sore spot with smartphones, but as innovations continue to take place, we’re seeing more and more progress towards better battery life. While larger batteries may not be the common answer to the problem, many manufacturers are implementing quick charging technology into their smartphones, thus reducing the amount of time needed to refuel your smartphone. Huawei has just unveiled its new quick charging technology that knocks the socks off of current quick chargers. From a numbers standpoint, Huawei’s new batteries charge 10 times faster than current batteries. In a demo, Huawei showed a 3000mAh battery charging from 0-50% in just over five minutes. With a 600mAh battery, the technology was able to bring it to a 68% charge in a mere two minutes. Huawei has a technological explanation for the improvements, but the main gist of the story is that these new batteries charge ridiculously quickly. Huawei has put a lot of effort into testing the batteries, and with any luck, we’ll see them in devices in the near future. Though a battery that lasts for a longer period of time would be nice, charging at speeds like this is a solid alternative. Keep up the good work, Huawei. http://shadowns.org/index.php/2015/11/14/huawei-reveals-new-quick-charging-that-can-go-from-0-50-in-5-minutes/ |
