2Face popularly known for his pigin prowess, recently in an interview suggested that Pidgin English should be introduced in Nigerian schools to aid communication and transfer knowledge to kids in rural areas who use Pidgin English as their second language. 2face Idibia The Afro-pop icon gave this opinion at the MTV Base #ChooseOrLose Roundtable which will premiere this Friday. “For me, they can gather some linguistic professors and let them package pidgin English properly,” he said, acknowledging that this may be the most effective way of tackling the education deficit in parts of the country with a language barrier. I think 2baba is right, Pidgin English would go a long way in uniting the nation, we can all have a common tongue. People all over the country speaks it and i personally see no reason why it cannot be made Nigeria's 'lingua franca'. Ahead of the February 2015 general elections, there have been the gruesome murders of some people in the country, which suggests ritual killings. Over the weekend, a woman was reportedly strangled to death by yet-to-be identified persons, who cut off her private parts. Her corpse was abandoned on Oniyanrin Street in the Mile 12, Ketu area of Lagos State. This death was some days after two secondary school female students were killed and mutilated in Ondo State. The corpse of the unidentified woman, who was reportedly a regular face in the community, and usually slept in one of the shops, was laid in front of a shop and covered with clothes. An eyewitness said, “Nobody knows exactly what happened to her. We just discovered that they strangled her and cut off her private parts. We suspect that what they were really interested in was her private parts. “This incident happened on Saturday and the corpse is already decomposing. We have been calling the emergency numbers for some time now, and they have not come around. Our fear is that the corpse could burst and spread disease in the area.” He added that such incidents had become a common sight in the area, adding that a similar one was recorded last year. “I believe it has a ritual undertone and may not be unconnected with the coming elections because a similar thing happened last year and it was a man. A part of his body was also removed while his corpse was abandoned,” he said. After the matter was reported to policemen at the Ketu division, emergency officials later arrived around 4pm on Monday to pick up the corpse. Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the incident and admitted that it was a sudden and unnatural death. He added that the victim’s private parts were not cut off as speculated by residents of the area. “It’s a case of sudden and unnatural death. No part of her body was cut off," he said. Just in time for Valentine's Day, increase your lovable status! It's easy and rewarding. Feeling less than lovable lately? It's not a permanent situation. Follow these seven easy ideas and you'll definitely spread love while becoming more lovable yourself. Don't complain A complainer often sucks all the energy and love out of a situation. Everyone has hard things in their lives, and everyone has reasons to complain. When you do need to let off steam, choose carefully whom you vent to, and try not to be negative all the time. Seeing life, even trials, in a more positive light will make you easier to get along with and easier to love. Listen I read an interesting quote the other day that made me pause and consider my own listening skills. Stephen R. Covey is quoted as saying, "Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply." Truly listening to others and striving to empathize with them will help you understand and love others more. In turn, you will become more lovable. Smile A well-known adage says "a smile is a light in the window to the soul." You have a beautiful, lovable soul. Let it shine by smiling. When you smile, you open yourself up to conversation, friendship, love or simply a smile in return. My husband says one of the first things he noticed and loved about me was my smile. If you're not a natural smiler, make an effort to smile more. It takes less effort than frowning. Be friendly Being friendly goes right along with smiling. I have a friend who is genuinely happy, caring and friendly. Want to know what people say about her when she's not around? I hear, "I just love her." When you are friendly and caring, people will gravitate toward you. Be careful not to be taken advantage of, but find happiness as you interact with friends and strangers. Give affection My sweet youngest daughter loves to pepper me with kisses, exclaiming over and over, "I love you, Mommy." I can't help but love her right back. Humans need contact. Even if you didn't grow up giving or receiving a lot of affection, you can become a person who expresses love through hugs and other affection. Many times, an unexpected hug from a friend has made me feel better, and sharing affection with my husband is an important part of our relationship. Be thoughtful My daughter asked me to make her a sandwich for her lunch. I decided to make her whole lunch and include a note — even though she's in high school. A friend of mine picked my daughter up from preschool and asked if she could bring some dinner over on a day I was feeling sick and my husband was out of town. Thoughtful gestures like these show love. When I get a sweet or romantic text from my husband, my love for him grows. Find ways to be thoughtful as you show love and you'll get love in return. Be yourself Most children are taught from a young age to value their identities and self-worth. Sometimes, as people strive to be well-liked by others, they try to become what they perceive others would like them to be. You are lovable just as you are. Each person has individual traits, talents, quirks and abilities that make him or her unique. Develop your good qualities and remember to be yourself. You are enough. Many of these ways to be more lovable include showing love to others. Brush up on your kindness and loving skills and you'll find yourself surrounded by people who love you. A source says they are seeking to be compensated for their services. Tension and palpable fear erupts in Imo State yesterday as Students of tertiary institutions embarked on a protest in Owerri, the state capital destroying Governor Rochas Okorocha’s campaign posters, street lights and vehicles. Liveschoolnews.com.ng learnt that the students had earlier gathered at the Rochas campaign office along Okigwe road, for the governor’s pro campaign rally and that they were told that N4 million would be given to them. Our correspondent reports that when they did not receive the money hours after the pro campaign rally, the students started destroying public property and pulling down campaign posters. A student in one of the tertiary institutions who does not want his name in print told our correspondent that the protest was prompted by organizers of the campaign, who according to him failed to pay the amount promised them after the campaign. He said they were offered N50,000 instead of the N4 million earlier promised. When contacted, Imo State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, confirmed the incident, saying before the protest, officers from the command appealed to the students to be calm. He said no arrest had been made and lamented what he called desperation for power by political parties in the state. He said the development was causing tension in the state. Reacting on behalf of Governor Okorocha’s campaign organization, the Senior Special Assistant on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo, alleged that the protesters were thugs sponsored to disrupt the campaign. Even students are exercising the political prowess if I may say. Just this afternoon a circular was pasted around the school premises about the all edged suspension of the SUG president, Pelumi, by the Student Government Parliament for the next 1 month. See circular... https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-8WGs6CC_yfU/VMflCrNwnSI/AAAAAAAABxA/JSgsl2MRUxA/s2560/1422386430633.jpeg The President reacted few hours later by storming the boys hostel of the main campus, discarding such circular pasted saying that the decision was suppose to be approve by a 1/3 of the house but his suspension was only approved by just 4 parliamentarians which is not up to the 1/3 of the house. The find was made near the Tower of David Museum, which began expansion plans 15 years ago. Careful excavation work at the site of a former prison uncovered what is believe to be the remains of the Herod’s palace, where Pontius Pilate sentenced Jesus to death. The site has been opened to tours. Jesus' trial site has been a point of debate among Christian scholars. “There is, of course, no inscription stating it happened here, but everything —archaeological, historical and gospel accounts — all falls into place and makes sense,” Shimon Gibson, an archaeology professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, told The Washington Post . The Rev. David Pileggi, minister of Christ Church told the Post that he didn’t expect the discovery to change the route of the Via Dolorosa, which takes visitors on a trek from where it was believed Pontius Pilate held the trial to where Jesus was eventually crucified and buried. The route has change several times. Joel Baden, professor of Hebrew Bible at Yale University, wrote for CNN that it is likely that two trial sites will co-exist . “The timing of the announcement is linked entirely to the potential for tourist dollars, rather than to the remarkable historical and religious significance of the discovery on its Own terms,” Baden wrote. |
