CptCharlesVane:So much hate in one post. SMH. How you guys manage to twist people's opinions because they differ from your reality amazes me. Are there facts in what he says? Most certainly. Has he said top schools are the 'only' way to succeed? Well, I am yet to read that. Saying top schools are not important is akin to saying getting good grades are not important - cos we all know "no be everybody wey go school go make am". I'd advise you all to be a little less touchy/offended about the "top school" matter and instead just pass your important message that it's not all about the school you attend (all without crucifying the man for stating obvious facts). Cheers! |
Thanks for your response. Really comforting to read. bracelum: |
Hey Bracelum, It appears you have a good grasp about US MBA programs and all... So I'd hope you can provide any guidance. I have an admission to a top 10 MBA program with very good scholarship (say 70% COA). The balance should be sorted with student loans. My worry is I'd like to travel with my spouse (as we would rather not be apart for that long). What do I need to put in place/do to help ensure we get the F1/F2 visa? What hurdles would you reckon I might face. Anyone with helpful insights can please also chip in...will appreciate any help/advice. |
AndroBlaze:Hi Blaze, Just wondering what informed your position that a linguist would have to master foreign languages. First, one who is well grounded in multiple languages is a "polyglot" and not necessarily a linguist. Next, if you read through "your" links, you would learn that linguistics is an important field in English Studies. So again, it beats me why you insist that studying the language does not make you a linguist simply because it is your spoken language - weird logic I must say. Now, if your position was that studying a course does not automatically bestow you the right to d title ( e.g. not all mathematics students should be called mathematicians), then I might agree with you - since the mere decision to study a course does not make one a master of that course. So OP, for d sake of clarity, anyone who studies a language and 'masters' the structure, history, grammar, dialects, etc.of that language, can be called a Linguist. To put this in context, your friend studying English Language is studying to be a linguist. Cheers! |
livelymatilda:Hmm.... I struggle to accept that the person behind dis moniker is normal. How you manage to misinterprete every situation to suit your preconceived notions befuddles me...Strange. For my sanity though, lemme believe that you are somehow related to Ceec and would do whatever is needed to help her win the money. That, I can manage to swallow. Really Strange!! |
