The following morning she came and I asked her whether she had made up her mind. She told me I have to part with $1,000. Residents of Ile Ife, Osun State, on Thursday were further restricted to only their homes, as Oro procession went through some major streets for spiritual cleansing against COVID-19.

A 14-day restriction to prevent spread of coronavirus, starting from Wednesday, had commenced across the state.

However, sources in Ife told our correspondent that there was public service announcement aired by a radio station based in the town, signed by one Chief Oyelami Awoyode on behalf of Ooni, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, intimating residents that Oro procession would move through some major streets on Thursday.

The announcement was also accompanied by a stern warning that whoever was caught would pay dearly for it.

Also, town criers were said to have gone round the town to announce restriction of movement between 6am and 6pm on Thursday.

Also, in the said announcement, many neighbourhoods in the ancient city where the procession would reach were listed.

According to Premium Times, an unregistered Dangote Cement truck has crushed six people in a taxi to death, an official has said.

The accident occurred at Epe Long-bridge, Epe Expressway of Lagos State.

The taxi and the truck were operating despite a lockdown imposed on Lagos by the federal government to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said the accident involved the Dangote truck and a commercial taxi conveying seven people.

Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Director General of LASEMA, told PREMIUM TIMES that the accident happened at 7 p.m. on Tuesday

“Preliminary report on the accident revealed that a Dangote Cement silo truck with unknown registration number fell on a fully loaded commercial taxi OPEL car with registration number SMK-312ES,” he said.

“Investigations revealed that a total of 7 people were in the crushed car with 6 of them having lost their lives on or shortly after impact while efforts are ongoing by the response team to extricate the single adult man who is alive but remains trapped beneath the silo truck.”

This confirmation was made yesterday via a statement issued by the minister of health, Osagie Ehanire. According to the statement, the coronavirus was found in an Italian who works in Nigeria. The Italian just returned from his home country to Lagos on Tuesday, the 25th of February 2020.
