Nobody loves and wants restructuring and regionalism more than the East. The question is simple-
Are we going back to the previous regional borders drawn by ethno-linguistic homogeneity as it was in the 1950s? If yes then do it today not tommorow.

However, there are many elements of confusion within the Yoruba-West who appear more intent on tearing down the East than having a homogenous and autonomous Yoruba/West region. They are doing exactly what you accused Balewa of doing in the Western region.

The other day, they proposed that their kiths and kins in Kogi and Kwara join the larger Western region, but Southern Imo, and other Igbo-speaking areas in the former Bight of Biafra and other areas be sequestered, isolated and cut off from from the larger Igbo/Eastern region.

These are the fundamental concerns.

They appear to be more interested in holding the East down to suffer than to push for their own regional autonomy.

A wise Igbo adage says, 'Onye ji mmadu na-ala, ji onwe ya'- 'He who holds a man to the ground, is also on the ground, his victim does not move, he also does not move'.

The East will not support any farcical push for regionalism that aims to cut out any ethno-linguistic Igbo-speaking group from their kiths and kins, while others take the opportunity to unite their isolated brothers in Kwara and Kogi to the larger nation of Oduduwa.

What is good for the Goose, is good for the Gander.

If we must eat a toad, we must all eat the biggest one, such that when people call us toad-eaters, we nod and beat our chests in affirmation.
