Saharah reporters. Dint u see it in the article |
Medical sources at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital have revealed that Big Brother Africa singing sensation Oluwabimpe Susan Harvey aka "Goldie" died of Intracranial hemorrhage as a result of hypertension. Several of the sources told Saharareporters exclusively that Mrs. Harvey had bleeding in her brain which could be attributed to hypertension. The confirmation put to rest earlier speculation by her managers and fans that she died of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) as a result of her long journey from the Grammy's Award in the US. One of our sources said that they could not immediately determine if drugs consumption triggered the excessive amount of bleeding that killed her as it was rare for someone her age to die of stroke. The medical source stated that a toxicology test would be required to find out if her death was caused by drugs, a process that would likely take months as conclusive tests could only be conducted outside Nigeria. The pop singer died on Valentine day shortly after returning from the US. The cause of death has been a source of speculation and resentment as her fans, and friends objected to suggestions that she might have died due to drug addiction. www.nairaland.com/attachments/995789_GOLDIES_DEATH_CERTIFICATE_jpgff0d344f460b9ced9ba3f20c320f8c44 http://mobile.saharareporters.com/news-page/nigerian-pop-singer-susan-goldie-harvey-died-stroke-pathologists |

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is considering its options in replacing Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State as it is becoming clearer he is unlikely to recover from his head injuries. The governor, who was in a plane crash at the Yola International Airport in Adamawa two months ago, is currently in hospital in Hanover, Germany. Several sources have told SaharaReporters that the party is working with the Presidency to find a suitable replacement for the governor. According to one source, several party leaders including PDP chairman Bamanga Tukur, Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, and Senate President David Mark, have all visited the ailing governor and concluded that he could never recover from brain injury to run the state. A separate delegation led by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, failed to set eyes on the governor during an attempted visit two weeks ago as he had been moved to the intensive care unit and on life support. He and his four companions could only leave a get well message with Mr. Suntai’s doctors. SaharaReporters has also learned that last week, Mr. Suntai’s personal doctor visited Nigeria and confided in family members and friends that the governor is unlikely to recover from his head injuries anytime soon. But as in the case of the late Nigerian president, Umaru Yar’Adua, members of Mr. Suntai’s family have pressurized state officials to engage in propaganda that the brain-damaged governor is “making dramatic” improvements and speaking by telephone to some people in the state. Party officials have contracted that, however, telling SaharaReporters that Suntai does not know the difference between day and night. Last Saturday, the Taraba State Commissioner for Information, Emmanuel Bello, told SaharaReporters the governor wasn’t brain-damaged, but when SaharaReporters asked him to provide evidence, he only said the governor had spoken to a Senator. Our source said none of the state officials have visited the governor in Germany since he was airlifted from Nigeria. Other members of his government who were hurt in the air crash have left hospitals in Germany and returned to Nigeria. On October 4, three weeks before Governor Suntai’s plane crash, the Taraba House of Assembly impeached Deputy Governor Sani Abubakar Danladi following allegations of “gross misconduct" leveled against him by a judicial panel. On October 5, Alhaji Garba Umar was sworn in as Deputy Governor after he signed an undertaking with the governor not to run as a candidate for governor in any elections. On November 14, the House of Assembly, invoking Section 190(2) of the Nigerian Constitution, empowered Umar to act as governor. With the party performing poorly in many states and at the centre, the PDP is anxious not to lose Taraba to other political parties. A source at the presidency said the party has been mandated to make formal announcements after the holiday seasons regarding the status of Mr. Suntai. Meanwhile the acting governor appears working fully as governor already by making internal changes and putting structures in place to run the state as the defacto governor. http://saharareporters.com/news-page/pdp-writes-brain-damaged-governor-taraba-state-danbaba-suntai |
INEC De-Registers 28 Political Parties, Including PRP, NAP, FRESH December 6, 2012 - 22:24 — siteadmin The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday night de-registered 28 political parties. They include Fresh Democratic Party, which was the brainchild of Pastor Chris Okotie; and Nigeria Advance Party, which was started by lawyer and businessman, Tunji Braithwaite, in the Second Republic. Also notable on the list was the Second Republic’s powerful People’s Redemption Party, which in 1979 won Kaduna and Kano States from a rampaging National Party of Nigeria, the forerunner of today’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to a statement by INEC just a short while ago, the action is an exercise of the Commission’s powers based on the I999 Constitution as amended and the Electoral Act 2010 as amended. The delisted parties are: 1. African Liberation Party (ALP) 2. Action Party of Nigeria (APN) 3. African Political System (APS) 4. Better Nigeria Progressive Party (BNPP) 5. Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) 6. Community Party of Nigeria (CPN) 7. Democratic Peoples Alliance (DPA) 8. Freedom Party of Nigeria (FPN) 9. Fresh Democratic Party (FDP) 10. Hope Democratic Party (HDP) 11. Justice Party (JP) 12. Liberal Democratic Party of Nigeria (LDPN) 13. Movement for Democracy and Justice (MDJ) 14. Movement for the Restoration and Defence of Democracy (MRDD) 15. Nigeria Advanced Party (NAP) 16. New Democrats (ND) 17. National Majority Democratic Party (NMDP) 18. National Movement of Progressive Party (NMPP) 19. National Reformation Party (NRP) 20. National Solidarity Democratic Party (NSDP) 21. Progressive Action Congress (PAC) 22. Peoples Mandate Party (PMP) 23. Peoples Progressive Party (PPP) 24. Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) 25. People’s Salvation Party (PSP) 26. Republican Party of Nigeria (RPN) 27. United National Party for Development (UNPD) 28. United Nigeria Peoples Party (UNPP) "The Commission hereby reiterates its commitment to relating with political parties in accordance with extant laws and for the benefit of our electoral democracy," the statement said. Pastor Okotie has run for the presidency three times on the platform of FRESH, insisting he is the change that Nigerians desire. Days before the 2011 presidential election, he said, “There is nothing that PDP can do for this country. It’s abundantly clear that PDP has become politically irrelevant in the sense that they have not been able to proffer solutions to problems that beset our people. None of the parties could be reached tonight to get their comments to the sudden de-registration in the middle of the night, and what their political options are. http://www.osundefender.org/?p=78087 |
