Religion / BREAKING: Muslim Youths Burn Down A Kano Sharia Court Over Blasphemous Comments by dampola(m): 4:36pm On May 22, 2015
Hundreds of Muslim youth protested outside a
Sharia Court located in Kano City on Friday
morning. According to protesters at the scene, they were upset over a blasphemous comment made by Malam Abdul Nyass, from the Tijjaniyya path of Islam.
Protesters outside the Sharia Court eventually
burned it down out of frustration over the
statements made against the Holy Prophet
Muhammad.
The youth, coming from all over Kano State, arrived to the demonstration area holding placards condemning the statement he made about the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
SaharaReporters correspondent saw the protests heading towards the Mandawari and Dandago areas, where they planned on confronting the Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, to lay their complaints.
Among the protesters were old men and Muslim women, many of whom were condemning the Malam Abdul Nyass’s statements and calling for punishment according to Islamic rites.
Malam Abdul Nyass is a known figure among the followers of Tijjaniyya and made the controversial state ments against prophet Muhammad last week during his usual sermon at Goron Dutse of Kano.
All effort to contact the police s pokesman, ASP Musa Magaji Majia proved abortive as he declined to pick the calls put to his phone number.

Romance / Re: What Men Hate From Their Women Most by dampola(m): 6:56am On May 17, 2015
I agree with u somehow but I had a girlfriend who use to laugh uncontrollably even when an issue is not funny sonetimes I feel embarrased.

Richy4:
I like ladies that got good laugh... OP, don't know if you have met a lady that doesn't know how to laugh.

If you have, you will never think about including laugh in your point no matter how much she does it
Romance / What Men Hate From Their Women Most by dampola(m): 6:15am On May 17, 2015
Men hate this to the core, they may pretend not to but they really hate when you do it in their presence. If you doubt me, go and ask a man whom you don’t know to tell you what he thinks of a lady who fart or always fart in front of him.

• Eating too much

Whenever you Ladies are in our Presence please try to control your eating habits. Not that we’re too broke to buy you Food but eating without Class just because your indoors is disgusting to say the least!

• Washing of your undies (panties)

Please try to reduce the amount of times you wash your undies in our presence. Forget that popular slang which tends to say that when a man loves you, he can even wash your undies, we’re not that cool with seeing someone else’s undies!

• Talking too dirty

Please, have control of things you say in our presence. Don’t be too naughty when it comes to your language except you want to remain a GIRLFRIEND FOR LIFE!!!!!

• Laughing excessively

Control the length you laugh in front of us. When we’re not around, you can laugh and bring down the roof if you wish. I was talking to a lady and she laughed so loud that she didn’t know when she polluted.

• Always watching movies

If your a Nollywood addict please, for the sake of not receiving any RED CARD, stop giving all your time to once your man is around. We need total concentration when we are talking to you

• Fighting

Never you fight in front of your man, he may feel that one day you will fight his mother.

• i Too Know attitude

Its very annoying when you always act like you know everything. When we argue about sports, romance, friends etc its cool for you to let us win sometimes as it would do you no harm than try to make sure you POV is the most correct even when its not.
Politics / Constitution Amendment: Senate Suspends Move To Override Jonathan by dampola(m): 2:35pm On May 13, 2015
The senate on Tuesday rose from about two-hour
executive session on Wednesday and announced
the suspension of its planned process to override
President Goodluck Jonathan’s veto on the Fourth
Alteration Act 2015 which seeks to further amend
the 1999 Constitution.
Senate President, David Mark, who addressed the
chamber after the closed-door session, said the
senators as lawmakers, would always abide by the
law of the land, since the Supreme Court had asked
the federal parliament to stay further action on the
document.
Mark said,”We are law makers, we will not be law
breakers. In fact we are responsible senior citizens
who should not be seen to be breaking laws in one
way or the other.
“However the executive should not take the
National Assembly for granted any longer.”
The senators had on Tuesday vowed to begin the
process of overriding the President’s veto today, by
taking the first reading of the bill to adopt the
gazette of the controversial amendment Bill.
It will be recalled that Jonathan had in a letter dated
April 13, addressed to Senate President David Mark
and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr.
Aminu Tambuwal, announced his decision to reject
the Constitution (Alteration) Bill 2015.
He had cited perceived deliberate attempts by
federal lawmakers to whittle down presidential
powers and their failure to strictly adhere to
constitutional provisions on the amendments to
Section 9 of the constitution by observing four-fifths
majority support in each chamber before it could
amend it.
The president had further argued that the National
Assembly only observed two-thirds majority
support for the amendment instead of four-fifths
stipulation in the constitution before amending the
section.
The amendment to the section strips the president
of the power to sign an amendment bill before
becoming effective.
Following the president’s letter, the Senate on April
15 demanded the return of the bill to the National
Assembly by the president.
The demand was the fallout of an allegation that
the president had earlier signed the bill before he
was prevailed upon by the AGF to withdraw his
assent.
Suspecting that the National Assembly might move
to override the president’s veto as a result of the
demand, the federal government proceeded to the
Supreme Court to stop the National Assembly from
further carrying out any legislation on the
amendment bill with the intention to render it
handicapped.
The Supreme Court eventually ruled on the suit on
May 7, asking the National Assembly to maintain
the status quo ante on the amendment until the
final determination of the suit.
It also described the suit as incompetent, saying it
should have been between the president and the
National Assembly and not between the AGF and
the National Assembly as the case had been.
The apex court also queried the federal
government’s counsel for not joining the state
houses of assembly in the suit since they were also
part of the amendment process.

Politics / Chadian President Reveals He Won’t Tell Buhari Even If He Knew Where Shekau Was by dampola(m): 6:06am On May 12, 2015
President of Chad, Idris Derby Monday made a volte face as he said that he does not know the where about of the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau.
President Derby had in a widely circulated claim said some months ago that he knew where the Boko Haram leader was hiding and had warned him to surrender or risked being killed by Chadian forces.
But speaking with state House correspondents after meeting with President Jonathan, President Derby said even if he knew where the terrorist was, he would not say where he is.

“I cannot tell you today that I know where Shekau is hiding ‎and even if I knew I won’t tell you” he said tersely in an answer to a question.
President Derby hinted that the inability of the Nigerian and Chadian army to carry out joint operations may have affected the success of the on going operations in the North east to tackle Boko Haram.
“Is regrettable that the two armies that is the Nigerian army and the Chadian Army are working separating in the field, they are not undertaking joint operation. If they were operating joint operation probably they would have achieved more results” he said.
He said he was in the Presidential Villa to consult with President Jonathan on the fight against terrorism and to congratulate him for setting a good record for Africa by conceding defeat in the just concluded election.

“I came to consult with my brother President Goodluck Jonathan. As you all know Nigeria and Chad are two countries that have a lot of similarities in fighting insurgents.
“Chad has had its own problems in the 70s and 80s and Nigeria assisted chad during those difficulties times.

“On the 2015 general elections, ‎I came principally to congratulate Mr. President for the statesmanship he demonstrated during the elections. We all know that elections in Africa is always contested but Mr. President demonstrated a lot of statesmanship, that he is a real democrat by conceding defeat and congratulating the President-elect.
You all know ‎that when Nigeria sneezes the neighbouring countries catch cold. If Mr. President had not taken that laudable initiative, you all know what would have happened now. Nigeria is still living in peace, you all are living in peace and that would not have happened but for that laudable initiative he took.

“So I came to congratulate him for leaving a legacy not only for Nigeria but for Africa as a whole” he said.
On the fight against Boko Haram, President Derby said:
“As you all know we both work together to fight ‎Boko Haram. I thought it was important that before Mr. President leaves office, I will come for us to have overview of what we did together, what we achieved together in the fight against Boko Haram.
“It Is true Boko Haram has not been completely eradicated ‎but they have been tremendously weakened. I did not want to wait and come during the inauguration of the new government, I thought I should come to consult with Mr. President, to congratulate him and to have this exchange and have overview of what we have been able to achieve in the fight against Boko Haram” he said.

The chadian President said that the four countries around the Lake Chad Basin that are currently securing the area have formed a multinational mixed force that will metamorphose to a Rapid Response Force that the African continent.

Politics / [OPINION] Yar’adua Wake Up! Nigeria Is Boiling (part 3) By Obinna Akukwe by dampola(m): 5:19pm On May 11, 2015
Yaradua! Wake Up! Nigeria is still boiling. I want to use this opportunity of commemorating the 5th year of your demise to tell you that you have slept enough. Since January, I counted the time till this day to wake you up as usual on this anniversary of your untimely sleep.
Yaradua wake up, lots has happened since I gave you the last public update in 2012.
Yaradua, wake up, do you know that Muhammadu Buhari, that kinsman of yours from Daura, whom your godfather and President Obasanjo helped you rig out in 2007 during the infamous ‘do or die’ electoral brigandage, has reappeared again back to power through an election in which, despite hate campaigns, lies, misrepresentation of facts overheating of the polity and heavy inducement of voters from the treasury of state, he still emerged victorious.
Yaradua, do you know that while results were being collated, your junior brother Ebele Jonathan was assisted by another of your friend, in the person of former Military Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar, to concede defeat to the opposition candidate, an act his supporters believe is a work of charm.
Yaradua, do you know that even your godfather, Olusegun Obasanjo, who helped you rig out Buhari in 2007, have turned to be one of the supporters-in-chief of the same person, and dumped your brother Ebele Jonathan due to style of governance.
Yaradua, remember I told you the last time that Turai , your wife was the most powerful First lady ever in Nigeria, and that your brother’s wife Patience is struggling with three woman Stella Oduah, Diezani Madueke and Okonjo Iwuala for the attention of your brother Ebele Jonathan.
A twist came about few months to the elections as Patience dribbled all these women the manner Messi dribbled Ronaldo the other day, and the manner Jay Jay Okocha used to dribble the Ivorian play-maker, Didier Drogba of Ivory Coast during African Nations Cup, and in the process became as powerful as your wife.
Yaradua do you know that James Ibori, your jailed political financier, has become very powerful even inside London prison. Do you know that your brother Ebele Jonathan even visited and begged for his forgiveness and support?
Yaradua do you know that your socialist friend Senator Chukwumerije is dead. He has joined the likes of Ezeigbo Gburugburu Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu , Prof Sam Aluko and others as I listed for you earlier. Why are death taking away progressives, socialists and patriots and leaving behind looters, hate campaigners, terrorist sponsors and divisive agents.
Yaradua, they even wished your kinsman death in the just concluded elections. Your brother Ebele Jonathan’s media aides told Nigerians that your kinsman Buhari will soon die in office as you did. The surprise, sir, is that Nigerians were not convinced by that death theory and thus filed out behind your kinsman in that presidential election.
Yaradua, another ‘enfant terrible’ in the person of Bola Tinubu has emerged as a political godfather in Nigeria. This former Governor colleague contributed significantly towards the victory of your kinsman. Your friends like Fashola. Amechi, Kwakwanso, Oshiomhole and Okorocha and many clerics, social activists, media activists, prayer warriors also contributed to Buhari’s victory.
Yaradua, do you know that the Nigerian Navy does not exist again. They only move about with their spotless white uniforms and end up in ballet dance, tompolo dance and sharwarma joints where they fulfill their national assignment with bottles of beer. Sir, their functions have handed over to some militants you rehabilitated like General Tomplo, Asari Dokubo, Ganiyu Adams and other gun wielding militias.
Yaradua do you know that the Boko Haram terrorists you routed in Maiduguri and chased into Chad and Cameroun, leading to the arrest and murder of their leader, later resurfaced at your death and overpowered the entire Nigerian army. Sir, do you know that even soldiers were removing their uniforms and dressing like women to escape with bloody civilians on rickety lorries because their commanders were sabotaging their efforts to fight the insurgents.
Yaradua, do you know that I even lost few soldier friends to the cold hands of Boko Haram because their superiors were leaking intelligence to the insurgents. Do you know that it is just two months ago, after five years of menace, that the Nigerian soldiers were able to pursue Boko Haram terrorist out of Nigeria.
Yaradua, do you recall how you ordered the then Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Bello Dambazzau and the GOC Jos Armoured Brigade, Brig-Gen Saleh Maina  to Maidugeri and  flush out Boko Haram Jihadists before you finish your first breakfast on your way to Brazil, and they did just that, and Nigeria had peace till you died. Sir, these terrorists were allowed to grow after your death by your brother Ebele Jonathan with the collusion of Ex-Governor Ali Modu Sheriff and some elements among Borno Elders, to the point that these murderers claiming to be Jihadists, invaded a predominantly Christian school in Chibok, kidnapped and defiled to death over 250 teenage school girls ranging between 12 to 18 years.
Sir, even your brother Ebele Jonathan confessed that Boko Haram sponsors live with him in Aso Rock, FEC, and Military and yet he allowed them to destroy the few legacies he has left.
Yaradua, do you know that until recently, Boko Haram invaded and took over towns like Gwoza, Chibok, Gamboru, Ngala, Askira, Uba, Mubi, Biu, Baga and many others and hoisted their flag in the conquered territories. Somehow, sir, your brother just recently liberated these territories, and we give God glory for that.
Yaradua, you have slept enough, wake up and hear this latest update! Sir, do you know that looting in Nigeria has been elevated to the power seven. I told Nigerians in a write up that close to N1 trillion naira was shared to politicians, Emirs, Mallams, Obas, Ezes, Pastors, Imams six weeks to the presidential elections and I recently asked those who collected your brother’s money and betrayed him to return it to the treasury. Few days later, your brother followed the queue and reportedly asked aides and concerned persons to return the over N2 Trillion naira they took from him for the purposes of the elections. This issue of misused N2 Trillion naira has created a big crisis in the ruling party, because those who collected the money are denying, cursing and threatening fire and brimstone.
Yaradua, do you know that in the space of 18 months, a few persons stole $20 billion dollars. They actually failed to remit the said sum and when the CBN Governor, Sanusi 33Lamido, raised an alarm, he was sacked, a matter I openly wrote against severally. Sir, do you know that by my own estimate as contained in my write-up ‘Stolen, $142 billion dollars Oil Revenue in the midst of National Poverty” that these people vamoosed about $142 billion dollars oil revenue in five years, funds not passed through the national budget, stating how I arrived at my figures. I believe that the looters rubbished the good intentions of your brother to transform Nigeria, by such levels of financial brigandage.
Yaradua , I believe that your brother meant well for Nigeria but he surrounded himself with people whose bad luck swallowed his good luck. They people used all manners of charms and incantations including Bayelsa Charms, Uromi Charms, Ogboni Charms, Indian Charms, Arabian Charms and even Charismatic Witchcraft to make this man clueless. It’s a pity the charms have all fallen off and the man is regretting why he mismanaged Nigeria.
Yardaua, the looters of Nigeria’s treasury are asking for spiritual helps, prayers and all that to evade a rumored Buhari prison. Some big thieves have even come to me for prayers and deliverance. Some are seeking for asylum, while others are crawling like lizards all over the world seeking for safe haven to hide their loot, without knowing that they are being traced all over. Sir, all this is because you slept for so long.
Sir, I warned you not to oversleep, or else they will destroy this nation but you ignored me and continued to enjoy paradise, the home of the righteous as illustrated in the Book of Revelations Chapter 21 which says “Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”[a] for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ [b] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Yaradua, you are the best ever civilian president to rule Nigeria. You shunned materialism, declared your assets, feted political opponents, instituted rule of law, flushed out Boko Haram, rehabilitated the militants, revoked some illegally acquired oil blocks, sacked corrupt ministers and died when we least expected, receiving the sacramental Extreme Unction blessings from Archbishop John Onaiyekan Bishop David Oyedepo, Pastor Emmanuel Kure, and Rev Prof Yusuf Obaje before you died.
Yaradua, maybe you shouldn’t wake up because, if I were in your position, I cannot abandon my place in paradise for anything in this wicked Nigeria. Rest in peace and wake up in the right place.

Politics / Ikedife, Ex-ohanaeze Boss, Leads Ndigbo To Buhari, Pledges Igbo Loyalty by dampola(m): 3:58am On May 03, 2015
By Nwabueze Okonkwo
Notable Igbo leaders, including retired army
generals, led by the former President-General of
Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr Dozie Ikedife, have appealed
to the president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari,
to give Ndigbo their pride of place in his in-coming
administration, not minding that Ndigbo did not give
him massive vote during the just concluded
presidential election.
The leaders, who made the appeal during a private
visit to Buhari, confessed that the people of the
South-East voted heavily for the PDP and not very
much for the APC, thereby creating the impression
that the president-elect was not supported by the
Igbo.
Disclosing this to newsmen at his Nnewi home,
yesterday, Ikedife declared: “Our private visit to the
president-elect was to let him know that he is the
president for all and that he has to accommodate
people from the South-East in his administration,
whether they voted for him or not, afterall, Ndigbo
are not saying that he did not win the election”.
Ikedife noted that the purpose of the visit was to
appeal to Buhari not to leave the Igbo in the cold in
his appointments and infrastructural development
because of the low support he received from the
South-East during the presidential election.
“We have people who are capable, qualified,
hardworking and technocrats who can work with
him in Igbo land. We have people like the former
Governor of Abia State, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, very
brilliant and very respectful. We have Oscar Udoji
and other people of high integrity and dedicated
politicians like Dr Chris Nwabueze Ngige. And there
are people who worked tirelessly for the APC to win
in the South East, people who did not vie for any
elective position, no matter the low number of
votes they attracted because of the overwhelming
South East support for the PDP. It is important that
these people should be accommodated”, the Igbo
leader said.
He noted that while it was a known fact that the
National Executive Council, NEC, of the APC had
done its zoning as to who got what, the Igbo should
be well accommodated and not to be left to pick the
crumbs.
Ikedife explained that personally he was too old to
be given any strainous appointment and that he
could only play on the win. He said all was to
protect the interest of the Igbo as an Igbo leader.
On Buhari’s reaction to their request, he said the
president-elect was friendly and appreciated the
visit but did not say outright that he was going to
grant the request or not “since we did not sign any
contract with him.”

Business / Oil Prices Rise Further As Dollar Dropsoil Prices Rose Again Thursday On Data Su by dampola(m): 9:27pm On Apr 30, 2015
Oil prices rose again Thursday on data suggesting
the US crude glut is easing as the dollar weakened
against the euro.
US benchmark West Texas Intermediate for June
delivery rose $1.05 to $59.63 a barrel on the New
York Mercantile Exchange.
European benchmark Brent oil for June delivery
gained 94 cents to $66.78 a barrel in London.
Analysts said the oil market continued to react to
Wednesday’s US Department of Energy inventory
report, which showed a 500,000 barrel drop in
petroleum stocks to 61.7 million barrels at the key
Cushing, Oklahoma trading hub.
While the decline was modest, it marked the first
drop since late November. Traders are taking the
decline as a sign producers are cutting back at key
US petroleum sites, such as the Bakken region in
North Dakota, analysts said.
“The oil price ‘wants’ to rise – this is the impression
one is bound to gain if one looks at the events that
have taken place on the oil market in recent
weeks,” Commerzbank said.
“Certainly market participants are paying more
attention and responding more to the ‘positive’
rather than to the ‘negative’ reports.”
Oil prices were given an additional upward push by
the retreat in the dollar against the euro and some
other currencies following Wednesday’s US
economic report showing growth of just 0.2 percent
in the first quarter.
A Fed statement Wednesday left open the timing of
an increase as it waits for more signs of economic
progress.
A weak dollar encourages consumption of crude and
other dollar-denominated commodities outside the
US.

Politics / Confusion In Adamawa As 9 Lawmakers Impeach Speaker At Govt House by dampola(m): 6:06am On Apr 30, 2015
By Umar Yusuf
Yola—The lingering crisis between the Executive
and Legislative arms of government in Adamawa
State came to its climax yesterday as nine
members believed to be loyal to Governor Bala
Ngillari sat at the Conference Hall of the
Government House and impeached both the
Speaker, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and his deputy, Mr
Kwamoti La’ori.
Fintiri was replaced by Hon. Jerry Kumdisi as the
new speaker following a motion moved by Hon
Kabillo and seconded by the member representing
Yola South, Hon Abuzarri Ribadu.
In the run-up to the just concluded general
elections in the country, the House of Assembly had
gone on a three-week recess to allow members
participate in the electoral process.
But a day to the re-opening of the House after the
elections, 11 members believed to be loyal to
Ngillari, issued a statement expressing their
dissatisfaction with the leadership style of Fintiri
and threatened to effect a change in the house
leadership.
The threat forced Fintiri to shift the plenary which
ought to have commenced on Monday, April 20, to
Monday, April 27 but even at that the House could
not sit as the Assembly remained under lock and
key prompting the aggrieved lawmakers to issue
another statement warning that since the speaker
could not open the House for legislative functions,
they had no alternative order than to sit anywhere
else within the state.
As the crisis deepened, nine among the 11
aggrieved lawmakers Tuesday convened at the
Government House where they removed the
speaker and his deputy.
As soon as the nine lawmakers arrived the
conference room, the member representing Gombi
Constituency, Jerry Kumdisi moved for the
appointment of Wale Fwa as protem speaker and
was seconded by the member representing Girei
constituency Abubakar Umar Girei.
While presiding over the session, Fwa noted that the
reason for convening the session followed the
consistent refusal of Fintiri to open the House even
as series of entreaties on him fell on deaf ears.

Politics / Why Jonathan Fired IGP, Suleiman Abba by dampola(m): 7:32am On Apr 22, 2015
By Soni Daniel, Regional Editor, North & Kingsley
Omonobi
ABUJA — THE Inspector-General of Police, Mr
Suleiman Abba, yesterday, became the first major
casualty of the just concluded general elections,
which President Goodluck Jonathan and his party,
the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lost to the
opposition.
The police officer, who was elevated to the post
only last year, incurred the wrath of the Presidency
on the eve of the governorship and House of
Assembly elections for allegedly arguing with the
government officials over the directive to recall the
Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Charge of
Zone 6, Tunde Ogunshakin, from Rivers State.
Abba, it was learnt, had deployed Ogunshakin from
his base in Calabar to Port Harcourt to oversee the
governorship election in Rivers State following
complaints by Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers
State, that the police had collaborated with the
Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,
and the PDP to intimidate APC members and rig the
presidential and National Assembly elections in the
state.
His refusal to pick calls over Ogunshakin’s recall
Another source said the former police boss
reportedly ignored presidency official’s objection to
the deployment of Ogunshakin to Rivers State on
the allegation that the police officer was
sympathetic to Amaechi and his party and would,
therefore, not allow the PDP win the state.
A Presidency source told Vanguard that on learning
that the IG had defied its order by redeploying
Ogunshakin to Rivers State to supervise the
governorship elections. A presidency official called
the former police boss to recall the AIG with
immediate effect from Rivers State or face the
consequences.
The source said the presidency felt slighted when it
could not get through to Abba.
The former police boss reportedly told the
Presidency that AIG Ogunshakin was a formidable
Police officer whom he described as a ‘no-nonsense
officer’ feared and respected in the Police Force
hierarchy and capable of ensuring law and order in
the place of new assignment.
Vanguard learnt that although the sacked IG
reluctantly recalled Ogunshakin from Rivers State,
forcing him to quit Port Harcourt by 5 am on the
election day, Presidency did not forgive Abba for
redeploying Ogunshakin reluctantly.
Presence at Buhari’s certificate of return
presentation
Another sin of the former IG was his presence at the
presentation of the Certificate of Return to
Muhammadu Buhari at the International Conference
Centre on April 1, 2015, which convinced the
Presidency that the IG was actually working for the
opposition and it moved quickly against him.
Arase replaces Abba
The Senior Special Adviser to the President on
Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, could not also be
reached for comments on the development.
Abba’s sack was announced by the president’s
spokesman, Reuben Abati, in a statement
yesterday. No reason was given for the sack while a
Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase,
was appointed to act in his stead.
Abati’s statement read in full: “President Goodluck
Jonathan has relieved the Inspector-General of
Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba, of his appointment and
duties with immediate effect.
“President Jonathan has also appointed Deputy
Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, as
Acting Inspector-General of Police, also with
immediate effect.
“Until his appointment as Mr. Abba’s replacement,
Mr. Arase was the Head of the Force Criminal
Intelligence and Investigation Department.
“Mr. Arase holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in
Law, as well as Bachelors and Masters degrees in
Political Science and Strategic Studies.

Politics / Jonathan Denies Spending N2trn On April Elections, Campaigns by dampola(m): 8:19pm On Apr 19, 2015
The Presidency has denied that it spent N2 trillion
on April 19 election according to a media report not
Vanguard.
The Presidency through Reuben Abati, Special
Adviser to the President Media and Publicity, made
this statement on Sunady.
The statement read thus
The front-page story of the Sunday Punch of April 19
alleging that the Presidency spent a whopping N2
trillion on the 2015 General elections, and that a
Committee of Five has been set up by President
Jonathan to conduct an audit on how the funds were
disbursed by party members and state officials is
mischievous, false and embarrassing.
The President has not set up any committee as
alleged in that story. It is also not true that the
Presidency and the Peoples Democratic Party used
state funds, or spent N2 trillion during the
campaigns. The innuendoes are wrong-headed; the
motives behind the story are suspicious.
The story alleges, for example, that the Presidency
spent N2trillion on elections and embarked on a
money-sharing spree to party members, support
groups and state officials. The authors of the story
and their self-appointed megaphones further
insinuate that public funds were deployed in this
regard. Their allegation of a theft of public funds is
extremely malicious.
How much is the budget of the Federal Government
of Nigeria? The annual budget of the Federal
Government is a little over N4 trillion. The story is
practically suggesting that half of the federal
budget was spent on elections. This kind of reckless
insinuation is meant to incite the public and
instigate national crisis.
With FAAC having to do everything possible every
month to ensure disbursements and with the
Federal Government heavily committed to the war
against terror in the North East, where is the alleged
N2 trillion from the Federal purse? President
Jonathan and the People’s Democratic Party
conducted the 2015 elections in strict accordance
with the rule of law. The suggestion of any unlawful
conduct cannot be sustained under any
circumstances.
President Jonathan has done his best to protect and
strengthen democracy and promote peace. He
justly deserves all the accolades that he has
received from both Nigerians and the international
community for this. Certain persons and interest
groups may not be happy that his profile has further
risen and that his legacy is assured; but they do
their country gross disservice when they act so
unpatriotically.
Anyone who is engaged in imposing a crisis on the
country by any means is not being fair to Nigeria.
We can only appeal to the public to be wary of such
reckless tactics now on display, which form the
substance of an odd, malicious campaign after the
elections.
We are particularly worried that since the March 28
and April 11 elections, some persons have
continued to work very hard to diminish the
Jonathan Presidency. They need to be reminded that
the time for politics is over; it is now time to focus
on the in-coming government, with emphasis on
national development and moving the country
forward.

Politics / Anambra PDP Will Cooperate With APGA — Obi by dampola(m): 11:10pm On Apr 17, 2015
The former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has assured that the PDP members in the National Assembly will work with APGA for the ultimate good and progress of the State. He said this yesterday during the presentation of Certificates of Return to those that won the Senatorial and House of Representatives seats in the State.

Flanked by the Senator-elect for Anambra South, Sen. Andy Uba; Hon. Uche Ekwunife (Central); and Princess Stella Oduah (Anambra North), Obi said that the benefit of having three of them in one party was that they would work together for the good of Anambra State in particular and Nigeria in general. He expressed happiness that Anambra has ranking members in House to ensure that the State benefitted from distribution of Committees and other related matters.

Asked to comment on Gov. Willie Obiano’s broadcast, where he said that the National Assembly election was rigged and the actual reasons why the PDP did not win a single House of Assembly seat in the last election, Obi , who said that he was not given to careless talk, said that the National Assembly election was peaceful and orderly unlike the election for the State Assembly that was fraught with massive inducement, threat to lives and property and many other atrocities.
He however said that since it had given the Governor the APGA members that he said he needed to work with, that the prayers of every Anambra man was for the Governor to build on the foundations already laid for the good of the people of the State.

Speaking on those foundations Obi recalled that it was under his Government that the State built the first Secretariat, built the first Teaching Hospital; returned schools to the Church and invested so much in education that the State came first in NECO and WAEC for three consecutive years; rebuilt Onitsha, especially the ten-lane Upper-Iweka Head bridge dual Carriage road; provided many vehicles to security agencies as well as started the demolition of houses owned by, or used for kidnapping; started two major hotels for the State and three shopping complexes in Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi.

Obi who also recalled that it was under him that the Federal Ministry of Works adjudged Anambra as the best in network of roads and the Debt Management Office adjudged the State as the least in indebtedness, prayed that those standard should be maintained and built upon.

Calling for judicious use of State resources, he said it was precisely the reason why, in spite of his great achievements, he was able to save and leave 75 Billion Naira in cash and investment after he left office, even when others left debts for their States. “As it is today the dollar component of the money we left has appreciated to almost 40 Billion Naira”, Obi said.
