Oliseh, who resigned his position as the Super

during the military regime of Chief Olusegun
Obasanjo and Utokoneze of Achalla Kingdom,
Anambra State, Igwe Alex Nwokedi, has challenged
the Federal Government to fix public utilities in the
South East of the country and see if it would not get
the best of Igbo people.
He made this challenge during an exclusive interview
with Vanguard, shortly after landing in Lagos,
yesterday. He said those who said the
marginalisation of Igbo land was not a fact were
only pretending, adding that Igbo people would think
well of Nigeria and as Nigerians the moment they
begin to see that they are given equal share of
development.
The monarch, who is also a former Chairman,
Anambra State Council of Traditional Rulers,
appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to, as a
move toward bringing development to the South
East, intervene by ensuring that local government
elections are held in Anambra and other states of
the South East because, according to him, the best
way to develop any nation is to start development
from the grassroots.
“We want to say that infrastructure in South East is
very poor. Enugu-Awka-Onitsha road is now a death
trap," he said.
It is a disgrace to call it an expressway where now
drive and have your back aching. Most important
thing now is to ensure that public utilities are fixed.
“Abolition of toll gate was a big mistake. It should be
reintroduced and not only to be reintroduced but
also to build new roads and maintain existing roads
from the money realised from it. We are therefore
challenging the Federal Government to show its
presence in the South East area and see whether
there won’t be peace. All of us in Igbo Land have no
option than to support the government of Buhari to
succeed. It is in our interest to do so,” he said.

I called a friend at Borno and the info I got from him was so discouraging about fighting boko haram. He told me that if our government want to wipe them out within one week that it is very possible.

Nigerian government this week made the greatest mistake of the century by the arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and director of the Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
Nigeria made the mistake of equating Biafra to Nnamdi Kanu. Muhammadu Buhari may have been ill-advised that arresting and unlawfully detaining Nnamdi Kanu will quench the fire of Biafra raging across the world. How mistaken they are.
How can one stop such a raging wave that has ubiquitous structure across the world by arrest of a single man?
Buhari and Nigeria inadvertently played into the grand strategy of Biafrans. Biafrans have waited for them to make this move. With the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, Nigeria has given Biafran a perfect excuse to increase the agitation for their freedom. They have given reasons for so may world governments seeking to help Biafrans to wage into the matter!
Similar to the unimaginable local and international free publicity of Radio Biafra by the Nigerian government when it unsuccessfully tried to shut down the daily broadcast from the Biafran freedom radio, the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu will escalate the Biafran restoration cause to unimaginable corners of the world.
Kanu has always spoken about the rascality, irresponsibility and oppression of Nigerian government. Infact the fulcrum of Kanu’s daily’s broadcast from Radio Biafra lies on the unquenching zeal of Nigerian government to repress freedom of speech and respect of human rights.
What else can demonstrate this to the international community, who the Biafrans have been wooing for a long time to turn to the aid of Biafrans, than the arrest of Kanu. Imagine the modern world where Alex Salmond can speak about the independence of Scotland from Britain without getting hounded not to talk of arrested.
Imagine the Spanish government arresting Artur Mas for agitating for the independence of Catalonia? This is exactly what the Nigerian government has just done. The international community will clearly understand such message.
No other example can clearly demonstrate the plight of Biafrans under the Nigerian government than the arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for seeking the liberation of his people.
It is very laughable that Buhari who has failed to arrest the sponsors and leaders of Boko Haram terrorists group killing and maiming innocent people, preferred to go after Biafrans who are peacefully seeking freedom from oppression and injustice.
Instead of dampening the Biafran spirit, Kanu’s arrest has intensified the passion and resoluteness of Biafrans.
By the way it is way too late to arrest Nnamdi Kanu in order to stop Biafra. Kanu has virtually completed his work. He has laid the foundations for the restoration of Biafra. He has raised the conscience of Biafrans across the world. As it stands today there are a thousand and one Nnamdi Kanu who are able and willing to carry on.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has revealed that many members of the terrorist group, Boko Haram are now resident in Lagos and other states because of the intense pressure being put on them in the northeast of the country by the Nigerian military.
In a statement released today, the DSS said there is a sudden influx of Boko Haram members in Lagos, adding that some of them are also present in states like Plateau, Gombe and Enugu states.

According to the The Cable, the DSS however revealed that some of the group’s members in Lagos and Enugu states have been arrested,

The statement read: “In line with the Department of State Services’ (DSS) re-strategised counter-terrorism measures to combat the menace of the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria, the service has continued to make significant breakthroughs in this direction.

“This followed the rounding-up of notable commanders and frontline members of the notorious group from different parts of the country. It should be noted that the group’s new pattern of movement and spread is necessitated by the pressure being put on them in their core areas of strength in the north east.

“Consequently, a number of them have been arrested in Lagos, Kano, Plateau, Enugu and Gombe States between 8th July and 25th August, 2015. Of particular note was the arrest on 8th July, 2015 in Gombe State of those responsible for the coordination and execution of the suicide attacks in Potiskum, Kano, Zaria and Jos.”

According to the DSS, one of the suspects Usman Shuaibu revealed that he coordinated the attacks under reference with the sum of N500,000, which was provided by his Amir, one Isa Ali.

 

“He claimed that the said Isa Ali has links to the leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, from where he collects monies to fund operations undertaken by their Markaz. Also, he revealed that he has participated in several Boko Haram attacks, including the attacks at Gwoza divisional police station in 2014.

“Shuaibu admitted being the leader of the team of nine sect members that was dispatched from Sambisa forest to carry out the attacks. He disclosed that four out of the nine of them were used as suicide bombers in executing all the (suicide) attacks,”the statement further revealed.

The DSS also revealed that the arrest of Usman Shuaibu and the core members of his cell, triggered the spate of bombings by the terrorist group as a revenge.

“It would be recalled that Money and his group were arrested on their way to Bauchi State where they had planned to execute another heart-rending bomb attack and this was frustrated by the arrest.

“Furthermore, the sudden influx of Boko Haram members into Lagos State points to the determination of the sect to extend its nefarious terrorist activities to the state and in fact, other parts of the country. The arrest of these confessed terrorist elements has however helped in no small measure to avert devastating attacks in the area. However, the service is making efforts to conclude its investigations and commence prosecution of the suspects.

“Drawing from the above, the DSS reiterates its avowed determination to work with other stakeholders in the fight against terror and other forms of criminality in our country. Citizens and residents are therefore called upon to rise to the occasion by volunteering useful information to the Service and relevant security agencies,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki has been hit with a charge by the DSS over his possession of unregistered fire arms.

ABUJA-President Muhammadu Buhari has terminated the appointment of the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero.
The termination of Alhaji Bayero’s appointment is with immediate effect.
A statement by the presidential spokesperson, Mr. Femi Adesina directed Bayero to hand over the management of the NPA and all government property in his possession to Mr. Habibu Abdullahi who has been reinstated as Managing Director of the NPA by President Buhari.
The President also wished Bayero well in his future endeavours.

According to Ghanian reports, a movie crew of 11 were arrested at dawn yesterday, July 23, for allegedly causing fear and panic during the shooting of a television series on the Spintex Road in Accra. The crew comprising of five women and six men, including popular Nigerian actor, Hanks Anuku, were said to have fired gunshots indiscriminately at about 3 a.m. Other members of the crew were George Adu Badoo, Joseph Heisk, Ivy Bentum, Adjetey Roberts, Eluheaka Mensah, Arhin Wakila, Mary Acheampong, Emmanuel Anumaka, Charles Roger Beckly and Sherrif Sandy Brown
The parties involved allegedly blocked the road between the Fidelity Bank and Stanchart Bank on the Spintex Road, while a motorcyclist chased a car. Panicky motorists who called the Police Control Room through the emergency numbers, had mistaken the crew for a gang of armed robbers who had blocked the road and were attacking road users. Briefing journalists yesterday, the Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, said the police control room received a series of phone calls that a gang of armed robbers who had blocked a section of the road were firing and robbing motorists and other road users on the Spintex Road.

The end of times is almost at us. That is what comes to mind after a young man in his 30s, identified as Terfa, beheaded an elderly man at his farm in Utonkon village, Otukpo, Benue State, according to Idoma Voice.

The man who confessed that a native doctor promised to make money rituals for him if he can provide a human head, according to witnesses, cornered the old man at his farm and beheaded him.

It was gathered that the suspect reportedly trailed his victim to his farm today, Monday, July 13, where he cut off his head with a machette.

But luck ran out of him when some youths noticed him and apprehended him. On searching his bag, the severed head was found inside.

The suspected was handed over to the Otukpo Divisional Police headquarters where the police say it has begun investigations into the case.

Barely three days after petrol tanker burst into
flames at Iyana-Ipaja destroying millions of
properties, another petrol tanker inferno occurred at
Idimu Bus Stop, Egbe Idimu Local Council
Development Area, LCDA, Lagos midnight
destroying millions of properties.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred
when two tankers loaded with diesel were in a race
to outwit each other and in the process one of the
two tankers over-turned spilling its content on the
road and immediately burst into flames.
The situation could have been worst but for the
timely intervention of the Lagos State Fire Service
saved the day.
As at press time it could not be confirmed if there
was any loss of lives as the inferno was still raging
with fire fighters battling to put out the fire as 3 AM
this morning.
However, the fire was eventually put out around 6
AM by men of the fire service.
The situation set the whole community into
confusion as everyone ran for dear lives.

A woman in Abuja, Shalom Miriam Shehu, has recounted how one of the daughters of President Muhammadu Buhari turned her out of a boutique yesterday.
Shehu, who says her father is a prominent figure in southern Borno and her mother is a retired federal permanent secretary, claimed an unnamed daughter of President Buhari came into the boutique in Wuse 2, Abuja, where she was shopping.
Shehu said that everyone was ordered out of the boutique, and she was particularly embarrassed.

She took to Twitter to explain how it happened.

Amnesty International has called on the Federal
Government to commence a “prompt, independent
and effective investigation” of former and serving
service chiefs for their responsibility in war crimes
during the fight against Boko Haram in the North-

The organisation said that these crimes included

Oil marketers in Nigeria have agreed to call-off their strike with immediate effect. They have also agreed to commence the immediate lifting of petroleum products across Nigeria in the next six hours.

This is contained in an agreement brokered by the Nigerian Senate after a meeting between the oil marketers and the Federal Government.

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Downstream, Senator Magnus Abe announced this at the end of the meeting at the National Assembly complex in Abuja on Monday.

The agreement also states that the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) should immediately revoke the license of any oil marketer that refuses to lift petroleum products across Nigeria.

With this development, PENGASSAN, NUPENG, MOMAN, IPMAN and all other officials also addressed the press where they affirmed the resolutions and agreement.

The Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was present at the hearing and endorsed the agreement on behalf of the Federal Government.
