Ajayi Iseoluwa, 24, is the best graduating student
of the Lagos State University in the 2012/2013
academic session, having finished with a CGPA of
4.67 from the Department of Electronics and
Computer Engineering. He tells Punch's Tunde
Ajaja about how he emerged the best:

What attracted you to engineering?
I’ve always had a flair for mathematics and I love
to proffer solutions to people’s needs. I imagined
many things in my childhood days and as I grew
older, I just knew engineering was my preferred
choice. I read a story on Dr. Philip Emeagwali, a
renowned scientist, when he invented some micro-processors, and it was a great motivation
for me, so much that I kept a copy of that page.
When the time came for me to choose a course, I
prayed about it and since God gave me the go
ahead, I was completely convinced that I was on
track.

Ebola virus victim, Patrick Sawyer’s wife, Decontee
has spoken after her husband died of the virus in
Nigeria last week. She says it’s a battle the whole
world should fight and only hopes and pray no
other family will go through what she is presently
going through. Apparently, Mr Sawyer had lived about a decade in
Minnesota with his wife and three children before
moving back to Liberia in 2008. His wife who
spoke in the US where she lives with their three
daughters disclosed Mr Patrick is also a US citizen
and it breaks her heart that their daughters would never get to meet him again.

“I don’t want all of this to be for nothing. I have
three girls who will never get to know their father.
People think Ebola is a problem on the other side
of the world, but that is not entirely correct. It’s a
global problem because Patrick could’ve easily
come home with Ebola. Easy. Easy. It’s close, it’s at our front door. It knocked down my front door,”
she said.

“I don’t want any more families going through
what I’m going through. So I pray, and then I’m
ready to fight,” she told KSTP.

That Ebola virus is currently on the rampage in
West Africa is no longer news. What is rather news
- and very scary for that matter - is that the World
Health Organisation has just confirmed a case of
the infection in Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial
capital and one of the most populous city in Africa.

Though the patient has passed away, there are
fears that many people he had come in contact
with as he journeyed from Liberia to Nigeria may
have been infected; while the medical workers
that attended to him during his brief stay in the
hospital also need to be examined!

The reasons are not far-fetched: Ebola virus is
virulent — it is extremely dangerous and deadly,
and usually spreads very quickly. The WHO
estimates that the death rate is a whopping 90 per
cent.

st2clem: Big Advice to all of you who don't meet with your courses cut off mark. if you scored up to the school cut of mark, you may be considered, especially those of you who are 1-4 marks short.
And those that are seeking help, make sure the person that wants to help you knows a top person in school or someone people respect. else your papers will sit at their desk till admission closes.
Do your follow up by going to school and calling the person everyday.
and when you get in, be prepared. you will have to study like ooooh my. 2 units will look as if you are doing a 4 unit course.
