Jobs/VacanciesRe: WAEC 2013 Recruitment Of Subject Officers by danbabe: 12:34pm On Dec 10, 2013
Going by the sort of grammatical errors I can see on some of the posts here, I hope some people on this thread are joking about applying for jobs at WAEC. Is this some sort of joke? Are they really serious? Is it this set of illiterates that will mark our children's papers? WAEC officials, please ensure that only suitable candidates are recruited. Certainly not some of the people who are making enquiries on this thread. What sort of education are students receiving in this Country? It's a big shame!! sad

when was the last time you see a young man going to library or even buying newspaper....This is a classic case of educational decadence and decline. Can you just imagine the spellings and grammer of this writer ?I weep, this is disheartening,
Have you gone to these private schools and interview our teachers? when I was serving I used to have a corp member, she studied mechanical engineering but couldn't teach maths and physics, she was teaching home economics, can you imagine a mechanical engineer doing this? what of the girl I meet at NYSC camp, studied mass communications but can't distinguish libel from defamation. hmmm ,I pray not to send my kid in NIGERIAN universities. Lectures are busy striking, students are busy pinging, govt is busy looting. I JUST WEEP FOR EDUCATION

Your English Language is awful! You need to work on yourself first before pointing fingers at others.

740megawatts: Can you please list these airports for us? I am very much interested to know international airports that charge trolley rentage fees....thanks in anticipation
IAD- At Dulles International Airport, Washington, I always have to slot in 3 dollars to get a trolley when departing the U.S. However, upon arrival at the same airport from any destination, its free. I simply pick up a trolley and get my luggage.
FamilyRe: Why Is Divorce Not An Option For Most Nigerian Women? by danbabe: 4:06pm On Nov 07, 2013
If the laws in Nigeria are "re -drafted" to ensure that a woman who has been married for a minimum of 5 years, gets at least half of her husband's assets, in the event of a divorce, trust me more of half of the existing marriages we know will come to an end.

Most Nigerian women are left high and dry with kids to cater for when they get divorced. This is because the law does not protect them the way women in England and America (for example) are protected. This is one of the main reasons you see our women tolerating all sorts of intolerable behaviour from their husbands.

I wonder what the average age range of people on this site is.
FamilyRe: Are You Sending Your Housemaids To School? by danbabe: 11:32am On Nov 04, 2013
I do not support using young children as homehelps! I employ only female adults preferably between the ages of 25-28, pay them very well and they normally stay for a minimum of 3 - 4 years. It has worked for me for years. I have never been scared of employing grown women because I am married to a principled decent man who would not embarrass himself by indulging with our workers.
PoliticsRe: PHCN Workers Threaten To Strike, Give FG 4-day Ultimatum by danbabe: 10:44am On Oct 29, 2013
Useless inefficient PHCN. I depend on alternative power supply every day anyway so whether they go on strike or not, I won't even notice. They can all rot in hell. angry

If he said among the world's top 10 "Secondary Schools", I might agree. Is that a University? Glorified secondary School

Even though I know I will get a lot of flak for this statement and quite frankly, it doesn't really matter, we need to be re-colonised. QED!!
NYSCRe: 89% Of Corps Members Can’t Communicate In English -NYSC by danbabe: 5:16pm On Oct 11, 2013
It is not restricted to Northerners! A lot of what I read on Nairaland threads make me cringe. We have a lot of half baked so called "literate" contributors here. Even on this thread, I have developed a throbbing headache from ridiculous tenses and badly constructed English.
FamilyRe: My Daughters Lied That Their Father Had Sex With Them…. by danbabe: 3:57pm On Sep 20, 2013
25Calibre: Female children are headaches, the task of raising daughters is just monumental.

Sons are much more easy, you enjoy your life.

Although I think this is a movie script

Really? Female kids are a headache? General statements like this are very annoying! Without women, the human race will be extinct!

This story is an isolated case of wicked females and should not be used as a yardstick for generalising females.

Poverty mentality is your problem. The fact that you haven't even seen what the International airport looks like doesn't apply to everyone. Next time, be civil. I don't have to prove anything to you...uncouth child.....
EducationRe: Nigerian University That Deserves To Be Among World's Top 100 Universities? by danbabe:
Red_Card: Earlier this month, a list of the World's Top 100 Universities was published (anyone who can post a link to the list should do it please because I don't know how to create a link). As usual, universities in the US lead the list followed by the UK universities.

Universities in Canada, Japan, China as well as Australlian Universities all made the list. I don't think an African University had a spot on that list.....you guys should correct me if am wrong. I haven't been to the US or UK but I believe some of the Universities they listed are no longer as good as they used to be which is why Oxford didn't take take the number one spot.

Some of the schools might have been overrated. While I believe Unilag, Uniuyo, FUTO and even Unizik my dream Uni are overhyped and undersevedly glorified, I still think a Nigerian University deserves atleast a mention. Even when top African Universities are mentioned, Nigerian Universities are usually left out or placed at the bottom of the list but I don't think we are that bad.

I think it's high time they place a Nigerian Uni on the top 100 Universities list even if it would be at the bottom. I don't know what you guys think but am voting Uniben. I think they deserve an honorary mention.

Next time, we'll be talking about good and bad Nigerian school hostels.
@ Red Card, even though I am an alumni of Uniben, it is what you have written in the highlighted word that will invariably always keep Nigerian Universities off such lists. I know anyone can make a mistake and no one is perfect but this seems to be the new lazy way of writing which puts me off.

Why can't we spell or write words in full anymore? It is "I am" and not "am". I like the fact that your grammar was correct up till that point though.
PoliticsRe: Britain Deputy Prime-Minister Opposes Bond Plan For Visitors by danbabe:
I have used my 5 year UK visa only about 6 times since it was issued and it's still valid. I use my American visa a lot more. I prefer going to America a million times more smiley. The only reason I even go to Britain is to make sure that the visa is being used. I don't spend more than 3 -4 days maximum in Britain. It really doesn't appeal to me.

CelebritiesRe: Beverly Osu Reveals Secrets On Big Brother Africa by danbabe: 9:07am On Jun 12, 2013
Over the years and having watched all the seasons of Big Brother, I have come to realise that majority (not all) of the housemates come from dsyfunctional families. I guess this is a major criteria for selecting housemates. The truth is that no decent person from a morally upright background will be able to entertain Africa in the way and manner we expect. They will be way too uptight and conscious of what their friends and families are thinking.

That is the only reason why we can have people like Beverly in the house (who can tell lies for Africa) or Betty who has turned herself into an indecent star for peoples viewing pleasure. Yikes! undecided

This bridge is the best thing that ever happened to me. Even though it is expensive, it takes me approximately 12 minutes from my house in Lekki Phase 1, to my office in Parkview Ikoyi. Unbelievable! A journey that used to take me one and a half hours going through Oniru! I will now save money on fuel and the wear and tear on my car will be less. Fashola, God bless you. We need more Governors like you. Forward thinking grin
