tctrills: That is a great reason to follow God. In fact, that's why we preach to others, to tell them of the rewards that come from living the gospel. But as our relationship with God grows, we follow Him out of love more than out of gain. That way, we are not discouraged even when we feel the blessings are not forthcoming.
over all you are following because you hope to gain , you can argue but you know the truth
tctrills: Talk for yourself sir. I don't obey my parents because I expect something from them. I obey them because I love them and I have a relationship with them. If one has the right relationship with God, you no longer follow for profit, you follow out of love.
You are lieing, knowing that your parents That Been taking care of you is even enough to obey them all your life.. why are you not following satan if you are not there for what you hope to gain?
MaxInDHouse: There is a problem with your submission: The true God doesn't like friends whose closeness to Him is based on favor that's why He so much cherished Abraham and keep calling Himself the "God of Abraham" In the days of Abraham rebellious angels were everywhere talking to people who cares to make friends with spirits and as you said most people make friends for favoritism that is the time Abraham also heard a voice from the spirit realm who called and told him to leave his families, friends and the ancient world trade center back then to an unknown destination! Abraham complied just to become the friend of this spirit then after leaving all the good life of a city to live in tents as if that's not enough this spirit asked a full grown adult to circumcise himself and all males related to him then promised Abraham that he will become the father of nations but until the man grew old to 90 years he had no child yet he didn't give up on his spirit friend who kept promising him. Abraham's wife got fed up and she tried to know who could be the cause of their childlessness between the two only to discover that Abraham is 100% potent this made Abraham felt relief only for his spirit friend to tell him that the child born to him by his wife's maid isn't what He promised but Abraham's wife who no longer see her menstrual period will bear him the promised child! Genesis 17:18-21 Ok our old man's spirit friend finally gave Abraham a son through his 90 years old wife only for this spirit friend to ask him to sacrifice this son again! Genesis 22:1-2 Abraham complied again! Well from that moment God said to his friend Abraham: “Do not harm the boy, and do not do anything at all to him, for now I do know that you are God-fearing because you have not withheld your son, your only one, from me.” Genesis 22:12
From that day God declared that from generation to generation let all the people and peoples continue to call Him "the God of Abraham" in fact James (Jesus' sibling) said:
And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. James 2:23 NIV
So my dear friend you need the type of faith Abraham had before you can be a friend of the God of Abraham that's what will make Him count you as one of the descendants of Abraham not by birth but by the same type of faith you have like Abraham! Romans 4:11
God bless you and may you have Peace!
God made a promise remember?, so he had something to gain in the relationship. That's why he accepted, and the spirit (God)was able to convince him that he's better than the spirits ( Fallen angels) speaking to other people in those days.
