Godwin Onasedu is widely regarded as a powerful man who has the ability to invoke rainfall and also prevent it from falling according to the demands of the time.

“Have you ever doubted your ability to invoke rainfall,” he was asked by a BBC Pidgin reporter.

The old man looked up slowly as if his neck was weighing him down. He pointed his finger to his chest in confidence and told the reporter, “Rain will disturb your movements as you return to your base today”

After making that boastful statement, he folded his hand to indicate that the interview was over as he was prepared to display his metaphysical power.
Later that evening, the reporters began to drive from Akwa to (Anambra State) Enugu and heavy rain started to fall. According to the reporters, it was so heavy that the team almost parked their car at the side of the road. The rain fell until they reached Enugu State.
The Search For The Rainmaker

The existence of powerful men and women reported to have control over the atmospheric condition has always been a popular talk in town. Many people have always say the rainmakers can invoke rainfall as well as stopping it.

But several other people believe nobody can control the weather not to talk of causing rainfall. The Nigerian Metrological Agency believes controlling the weather is as good as a myth.

There are rainmakers across the world especially in Nigeria. Their business is to halt any event of rainfall for people holding social occasions like burial ceremonies, parties or even market days. There are also reports that some people hire rainmakers to invoke rainfall to disrupt the events organised by their supposed enemies.

Some people also believe rainmaking is full of lies and no human being possesses the power to invoke or stop rainfull at any given time.

It took the reporter four good months to look for a confident rainmaker who was ready to display his powers on tape. With the help of some indigenes, the reporter traced Godwin Onasedu to Ifitedunu village at Dunukofia Local Goment Area in Anambra State, southeast Nigeria.

Godwin Onasedu is a powerful rainmaker in his village and according to him, his generation has been into rainmaking for many years.

To invoke rainfall, he asked the reporters to bring some items which are as follows:
Two crates of beer
One bottle of 501 gin
Four pieces of kola nut
1000 naira to take break the kola nut
Candles, white and red cloth
On The D-day

On Friday, the 17th of August, 2018, the reporter finally met with Godwin at his house. When the reporter met him, he was seen burning some leaves outside his house. He revealed he performing that as a ritual to forestall rainfall.

“Some people are organizing a burial ceremony and they have given me the job of holding off rainfall” he said.

“But as you have come to put my powers to test, I will cause a small quantity of rain to fall but it will not last”

As the sacrificial items were presented before him, he ordered an assistant to quench the fire so that they could head to a designated shrine to complete the task of invoking the rain.

The rainmaker revealed to the reporter that the fire from the burning leaves prevent rainfall and quenching the fire will allow rainfall.

This is a raining season and rainfall has been a regular occurrence. But on this particular day, the sun was shining brightly. The reporter checked Google weather report and discovered rain was supposed to fall later that day.

By the time they arrived at the shrine which was close to the rainmaker’s house, the villagers who heard about the test had gathered to feed their eyes. Parent and their kids followed the reporters and the rainmaker. The rainmaker walked in front of the crowd wearing a white cloth which he also tied on his head.
The shrine was made up of two very tall trees. A rope and some clothes with yellow and red colours were tied to these trees. There were empty bottles of gin on the ground coupled with other fetish materials unknown to the reporter. The rainmaker started to recite incantations and repeatedly beat a gong known as Ogene in local parlance to bring down rainfall but at that time, there was no single rain drop.
People gathered watching the scene and the camera of the reporter was set to capture the event. Nothing happened, he performed these rites for about 45 minutes but the rain refused to come. The rainmaker stopped. By this time, people had started to leave for their various houses.

The rainmaker asked the assistant to return to his house to check on it. When the assistant returned, he informed the rainmaker that someone had started the fire they quenched behind their back. According to reports, the man who set the fire was mentally-challenged, the pressmen had earlier met him at the rainmaker’s house and he wasn’t friendly. As the rainmaker was invoking rainfall, the man was busy derailing his efforts by burning the mystic leaves.

At last, Godwin the rainmaker lost his temper and returned to his house. The impatient villagers also left for their abodes but the reporters waited at the shrine for the rainmaker. They were waiting for the two hours deadline they gave him to elapse.

At about one hour and thirty minutes, there was no sign of rain so the pressmen started packing their gadgets in preparation to leave the area. Not too long, the breeze started. This started gradually. The cassava leaves, palm trees and other plants started to shake due to the breeze. The pressmen looked up and observed that the environment was cloudy giving indications of imminent rainfall.

The pressmen immediately brought out their equipment, switched on the camera and pointed it to the sky to film as the rain had started.
This according to them lasted for five minutes. The rain wasn’t heavy but the ground was obviously wet. According to the reporter who wrote the story, people might believe or doubt the story but he witnessed rainfall that day. He asserted that he can’t categorically state that the rainfall was natural or induced by the supposed powerful rainmaker.

Over the weekend, the Lagos state police command arrested 57 suspected homosexuals who were allegedly being initaited into the act of homosexuality. The 57 suspects were paraded before newsmen yesterday

Nigerian gayrights activist, Bisi Alimi, has reacted to the arrest. Bisi on his Facebook page, wrote

”People have parties in Lagos everyday. Sometimes the parties have more men than women and sometimes more women than men.

“The idea that there is a “gay party” or a “gay initiation party” is nothing but lack or responsibilities from the part of our police and government.

“Those innocent people are a victim of their poverty. Whether they are gay or not is not the issue, the issue is, they are poor and they will pay the highest price for being poor in a country that celebrate stolen wealth”.

A student of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun state, was beaten to death, yesterday, after he killed at least five people in the state, including some Post UTME students with his car.

Though eyewitnesses alleged that occupants of the car were drunk or high on drugs due to the amount of drugs retrieved from their car.

The CP said that investigation into the case was ongoing and that the suspects would be charged to court soon.

But some of the suspects who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria denied the allegations.

They said that they were at the hotel to attend a wedding and birthday parties. One of the suspects, James Obialu, said that he was a dancer and had come to the party to perform before he was arrested.

“I’m not gay, I’m a dancer and I was there to perform before I was arrested. I’m a responsible citizen and I work at the Alimosho General Hospital as a counsellor for those living with HIV,” he said.

Another suspect, Samuel Olarotimi, 22, a graduate of Mass Communication from the Yaba College of Technology, said that there were other females in the hotel who were not arrested.

“I was there for a birthday party which started late. About eight ladies were at the bar with us, while some other ladies were dressing up in their rooms.

“I don’t know why the Police refused to arrest the females but brought us here as alleged homosexuals,” he said.

One of them, Bob China, said that he accompanied his friend, a caterer, to deliver food at the party but was arrested while waiting outside the hotel.

The Lagos State Police Command have arrested 57 suspected homosexuals who were caught in homosexual activities in the Egbeda area of the state.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi, confirmed the arrest to newsmen during a news conference on Monday. He said that the suspects were picked up on Sunday at 2 a.m. while they were performing gay initiation rites for newly recruited members.

“Intelligence gathered revealed that some youths will be initiated into a Gay/Homosexual Club between 1 a.m and 2 a.m. at Kelly Ann Hotel/Events Centre, located at No. 3-7, Adenrele St., Egbeda, an action contrary to Section 1 (1) of Same Sex Marriage, Act 2014.

“Consequent upon this, some operatives from the Shasha and Idimu Police stations stormed the venue and met no less than 80 young men.
“They were taking different types of drinks, including banned substances such as Tramadol, and Shisha laced with substances suspected to be marijuana.

“As soon as they sighted the Police, they ran into different directions, but the team arrested 57 of them,” he said.

Prophet Kumchacha, founder and leader of Heaven Gate Chapel who was a guest on Accra based Hitz Fm, has disclosed that God blessed him with a unique strength that enables him to satisfy any woman he meets for sex.

Nigerian self-acclaimed male barbie, Bobrisky in an interview with Sunnewsonline, talked about having a girlfriend who isn’t based in Nigeria and becoming a cross dresser.

Here are excerpts from the interview;
So how did you become a crossdresser?

I’m from a polygamous family. My dad married three wives. My mum is the last wife with three children. My parents had issues at some point and my dad said my mum could go with her children. It was later agreed that my brother and sister should stay with my dad being the older ones while I lived with my mum. She sent me to primary and secondary schools. I went to Kings College and University of Lagos, where I studied Accounting. Before I gained admission into Unilag, I lost my mother in 2008. She was a Muslim; actually she travelled for Hajj and died there. This made me to go back to my father’s house.

While living with my mum, I learnt business tactics from her. She sold lace and other textile fabrics in Lagos Island. I used to go to her shop on Saturdays to help out. Shortly after moving to my dad’s house, I gained admission into University of Lagos to study Accounting. In my 200 level, I started trading. I sold clothes to my friends and hostel mates. But I wasn’t making money the way I wanted. I sat down one day and told myself that I wanted to become famous. My dream has always been to become famous and controversial. I said to myself, ‘I want to make money from my trade, so what can I do? I started having different plans.

Since I do more of make-ups, sell female and male clothes, I decided to do crossdressing to draw attention. ‘If I start crossdressing, it would sell me out there. It would draw people’s attention’. That was how I became so famous. People were like eeeh, is this one a boy or a girl? What is going on, he’s a boy oh, no he is a girl oh. My plan worked. I became controversial. I started selling creams, clothes, and make-up in a large quantity. From there, I started making money. I got a store on the mainland selling clothes. After then, I got a bigger shop in Lekki Phase One, where I still operate my cosmetics business till date.

The journey has not been easy. People call me names, oh, he’s gay; he’s this, he’s that. Nigerians have this attitude when they see a man acting like a woman or doing female stuff. They tag him gay. But we all have our plans and aims laid out. I wouldn’t want to be a kidnapper, a thief, or a fraudster in the nearest future, so, I’m using what I have to get what I want. I thought of what to do to make cool cash and become famous and that’s why I became Bobrisky. The name came about because people were calling me Bobo, saying that wearing women outfit as a guy is a risk. It takes a lot of courage to do that. So, I took Bob from Bobo and added risky. That was how I became Bobrisky. Social media is full of tales of Bobrisky. Bobrisky did boobs, Bobrisky did ass; all these things are controversial nonsense.

Do you have a girlfriend?

Yes, I have a girlfriend and she lives in London. My girlfriend understands the game, I made her understand and told her not to get distracted with what she hears about me.

Do you have a girlfriend?

Yes, I have a girlfriend and she lives in London. My girlfriend understands the game, I made her understand and told her not to get distracted with what she hears about me.

How do you relax?

I’m an indoor person, I don’t go out. After my business I stay in my house.

What is your favorite fashion accessory?

I love jewelry. I wear designer items. I love Gucci and Christian Louboutin, these are the fashion accessories that keep you classy and expensive.

What is your wardrobe made of?

I don’t have male stuff in my house. I don’t have anything male in my wardrobe. However, I have little men stuff I wear in my house, when I am all alone.

Some people find me interesting outside the country. In places like Europe and America, they find me interesting. They love my fashion sense.

In an interview with Sunday scoop, MI stated that he cannot be labelled as the best all the time and that his colleagues had regarded him as the best in the past and so it is time for new generation of rappers to take over.

He also spoke on hiss relationship with former record label, Koker and insisted that there is no severance of relationship between his label and the former signee.

According to him, Koker’s contract with label had expired before he left the label.

He stated:

“Koker just started his own record company, but Dice Ailes is still signed to Chocolate City. Koker was with us for five years and his contract expired before he left.”

On claims that Koker left out of discontentment, MI said he had yet to hear or read such. He added:

“I feel I need to respond to it to clear the air. Koker didn’t wake up one day and leave Chocolate City. He had a five-year contract with us and we are proud of what he did. No one knew him before he joined us but now, he is popular in the music industry.”

Reacting to Wizkid and Burna Boy’s endorsement of a South African artiste, Nasty C, as the best rapper in Africa, MI said he had no issue with it.

He said:

“Nasty C is taking rap music to another level right now; he is doing a great job. I cannot count how many times Wizkid has called me the biggest rapper in Africa. It is unwise to want to be called the best all the time. I think my focus now is always to do my best, not to be the best. I am a big fan of Nasty C and I appreciate everything he does.

“Since I called out Nigerian rappers to fix up their lives, I have seen changes. I believe that we have great and talented rappers in Nigeria; I was just trying to wake them up from their slumber.”

He, however, insisted that his new 10-track album was very deep and personal to him.

He narrated:

“This album is more personal to me and deeper than my previous albums. I like you to listen to it and tell me what you feel about it. I talked about mental health, low self-esteem, depression and other issues people battle with every day. I like all the songs; I don’t have a favourite track.”

MI said he was deliberately vulgar on a particular track to pass a message across to people who pretend.

He stated:

“The concept of the song where I talked about sex is to pass a message to people who pretend. Of course, when we send it to radio stations, we will censor some parts. As an artiste, you make choices creatively in what you do. If you listen to the song from the beginning to the end, you will understand what I am trying to do. But I am aware that not everyone will agree with what I do.”

A murder suspect, Omoniyi Ademola, has revealed that he killed a traditional ruler in Ekiti State, Oba Gbadebo Ogunsakin to take over his throne.

Ademola stabbed Oba Ogunsakin, the Onise of Odo Oro in Ikole Local Government Area to death with a knife on Monday.

Eighty-year-old Oba Ogunsakin, who was enthroned in 1986, was stabbed to death in his palace on Monday after chairing a meeting of his council of chiefs in the palace.

The suspect thrust the knife into the monarch’s chest with the victim giving up the ghost before reaching the hospital.

He fled to Ado-Ekiti after committing the regicide but was arrested at Ajowa Market in Dallimore area of the city around 4.30 pm same day.

Speaking while being paraded alongside suspects arrested for various crimes at the police headquarters in Ado Ekiti on Friday, Ademola, who is in his 40s, said he committed the regicide to claim his “right.”

Ademola, who spoke correct English and never showed any sign of insanity, was said to belong to another royal family in the community.

He claimed that his family had nominated him to take over from the late king whom he said was serving as a hindrance.

The suspect said: “The crown didn’t belong to Oba Ogunsakin because the town last year declared vacancy because of the death of our Oba.

“They said our Oba was dead and my family nominated me to take over only for him to resurface again and said he remained the Oba.

“Last year December, my family nominated me and since then I have been trying to take over. That day when I got to the palace, it was the late Oba that first attacked me and I attacked him back which led to his death.”

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bello Ahmed, had earlier addressed a press conference on the recent breakthroughs recorded by the command in arresting the suspects.

The police chief dismissed claims in some quarters that the suspect is mentally unstable.

Ahmed said: “I am not a medical expert to know who is mentally unstable or not.

“But the fact remains that, how could a lunatic committed murder and ran over 100 kilometers from the scene of the incident?

“So, common sense dictates that he must have known what he was doing to have run from that town to Ado Ekiti.”

Answering question on the killing of former Commissioner on the board of the Federal Character Commission, Mr. Bunmi Ojo on August 10, the CP said the command was making progress with some arrests made.



He added: “We are on the trail of the killers, we have reached advanced stage. Some suspects had been arrested and they are helping the police.

“Efforts are being intensified and we shall feed the public with the right information when we are ready to charge them to court.”

Also paraded were 25 other suspects, who were arrested for cultism and other murder cases, including a man, Toyin Ajakaye, who allegedly hanged a commercial motorcyclist in his farm in Agbado Ekiti on Wednesday.

Ahmed added that the 16 suspects arrested for allegedly belonging to ‘Aye’ and ‘Eye’ confraternities have confessed their memberships of the secret cults, saying they will be charged to court soon.

He revealed that weapons like: one cut-to-size gun, one cartridge, criminal charms, Toyota Camry Car with Registration number FKJ 912 DEK, one kitchen knife and one cutlass were recovered from the suspected cultists.

Ahmed revealed that four armed robbery gang: Idowu Oluwole, Ganiyu Rasak, Ojo Ayomide and Asimile Efra were arrested for stealing a Bajaj motorcycle from one victim in Ado Ekiti.

The police boss the command will continue to intensify efforts to ensure that criminals have no hidden place in the state.

When David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly called Davido released his first hit single, “Back When”in 2011, no one was surprised that he would some day end up becoming one of the biggest music stars around.

Today, the musical superstar has not only earned a reputation for having the biggest ‘ego’ in the continent and beyond, but also, for being the most controversial, yet unstoppable singer from this part of the world.


Davido has released back to back hits that confirmed he’s ‘unstoppable.’ He’s also a show stopper any day, and many people see him as the true future of hip pop music in Africa. Like it or leave it, the ‘Áye’ singer has proved beyond every reasonable doubt that he understands the secrets of making good music, and he’s not leaving anything to chance.

Rewind back to when he released his debut song,’Back When’, Davido has not slowed down in his quest to conquer the world with his music just as he has not stayed away from controversy. To him, controversy, which is associated with fame has become his second nature and the sensational singer is enjoying every bit of it while it lasts. At best, he has developed thick skin as far as scandals are concerned.


From 2012, when a picture of the pop star and a hooker in bed went viral on social media, David has forever been drawn into controversy. When his fans thought that the mess would never be repeated, another photo surfaced online with yet another hooker. It has been controversy till date.


Indeed, apart from what happened in 2016, after the sensational singer got into a nasty public fight with his baby mama, Sophia over the custody of their daughter, one controversy that Davido would not forget in a hurry was being linked to the death of his friend, Tagbo Umieke on October 3, 2017, an accusation that forced the singer to release the CCTV recording that exonerated him from the crime. He also lost other two of his friends, Olugbemiga ‘DJ Olu’ Abiodun and Chime Amaechi to the cold hands of death in one week.


Davido was also involved in other controversies that almost ruined his musical career but each time, he managed to wriggle himself out of such controversies. Recall the fight one of his aides had with security personnel at the Murtala Mohummed International Airport, Ikeja, and the bawl the singer had with South African actress, Boity, who reportedly accused the pop star of making sexual advances at her after his 30 Billion concert in Zimbabwe.

But beyond his controversies, Davido remains one Nigerian singer you cannot ignore. He has continued to up his game, with every hit single he released. After releasing “Back When” which became an instant hit, Davido followed it up with another hit single, “Dami Duro”in 2011. Since then, it has been back to back hits, as if he’s yet to give his best. When his fans thought ‘Aye’ would be his best song, the very talented singer returned with ‘Skelewu’, which ruled the airwaves across the continent, followed by ‘Overseas’and ‘Globe.’ But his ’30 Billion’ which dominated the Nigerian music space throughout the greater part of last year, remains one of Davido’s greatest hits. The 30 Billion tour of America and Europe also was an indication of how big Davido has become on the world stage.

Besides, he also toured Africa with his ’30 Billion hit song’, performing to the cheering crowds at Kigali, Rwanda, Kinshasa, Brazzaville, Niamey and Dakar respectively. The gains of that musical tour are better imagined than said-increased popularity and commercial gains.

However, before dropping ’30 Billion’, Davido also released two other hit singles, “If” and Fall” that have gone diamond and platinum respectively at a time. His latest hit song, ‘Assurance’ which is currently being played at every nook and cranny of the society, will end up becoming the biggest song in Nigeria. The song, an ode to his girlfriend, Chioma Rowland who turned 25 recently, has become an anthem.

Davido’s announcement in May, this year that he was expecting the arrival of his new private jet generated a lot of heat on social media with tongues wagging that the ‘IF’crooner’s net worth wouldn’t buy him a private jet yet. Some also thought it was another gimmick like that of Psquare when it was rumoured that the singing twins bought a private jet. But the handsome singer shut their mouths after the jet landed in Lagos, amid excitement. Davido’s reply to his critics on Instagram definitely put to rest doubts of his ownership of the aircraft. He wrote, “Lmao, all of you, what is mine is Imade’s and what is my father is mine.” That triggered another controversy. Who owns the jet, himself or his father?

Furthermore, it’s not about who owes the jet, but the fact that the pop star who has been flying around the world renting jets is now about living the luxury life as the first Nigerian entertainer to owns the luxury ‘ride.’

He has worked so hard to attain the heights he has today. And if acquiring a private jet would give him the comfort he desires in life, why not? After all, whatever belongs to his father, belongs to him. While tongues are still wagging, it’s being speculated that the jet would not only be serving the singer and his crew but also, it would be bringing returns to him, having once hinted that he would be going into the aviation business.

Like all music stars, Davido has soft spot for women. Having been linked to many of them in the past, his relationship with his current girlfriend, Chioma appears to be more real thank fake.The Omo Baba Olowo’s (OBO) generosity to his new girlfriend, reached its peak when he presented her with a N45 million Porsche on her birthday. The “IF” crooner sprang a surprise at Chioma’s birthday by presenting her with the luxury ride. Besides, the lovebirds are everywhere building nestle. Last week, they were together in Port-Harcourt, Owerri and Cotonu. And Davido, out of excitement now addresses Chioma as ‘wifey.’ In his Instagram post, the singer wrote, “ davidoofficialTouch down wifey home town !! Club go turn traditional wedding this nite.” He also wrote in another post, “First trip with my woman !! Cotonu .We on the way!! AIR OBO Touch down.”

President Buhari on Friday, in Daura has said the string of victory recorded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in bye-elections in Bauchi, Katsina and Kogi States is sufficient proof that 2019 elections will be won by the party.

Receiving the representatives of the 34 Chairmen of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Katsina State, President Buhari said: “coming against the backdrop of the victory in Ekiti governorship election, the string of victory by our party, the APC, is a clear indication of the way things will go in 2019.

“For those who are discerning; those who have ears and eyes they will see, hear and understand. Those who don’t understand are entitled to their mistaken assumptions.”

The President, therefore, emphasized that the victories in the recent polls are indeed “the sign of things to come.”

He thanked the leaders of the association for paying Sallah homage to him and for their message of congratulations on the performance of the party and the administration, assuring them that he would continue to do his best for the nation.

Speaking on behalf of the members, the Chairman of ALGON in the State, Alhaji Mohammed Na’Allah, expressed their support and commitment to the success of the Buhari Administration.

At another meeting with the leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Katsina State, President Buhari expressed his continued determination to respect the diversity of the country, saying that he will run a government that is fair and just to all Nigerians.

The President thanked the CAN leadership in the State for living in peace and harmony with other religious groups, and for supporting his administration in its policies and programmes

The CAN leaders who spoke during the visit, the State Chairman, Rev. Nelson Onyeakachukwu, and an elder and coordinator of the Christian Pilgrimage in the State, Haruna Danjuma expressed happiness with the President’s performance.

They described him as the State’s good ambassador who had made everyone proud.

“Christians in Katsina are happy with both Governor Masari in the State and yourself at the center. We will continue to support both of you,” the CAN leaders told the President.

Reekado Banks has reacted to reports of a fight between him and Kizz Daniel. After recording a remix of his song, Selense, featuring Kizz Daniel and Reekado Banks, Harrysong was forced to work with other artistes for another remix.

Harrysong’s manager, Desmond Ike, while speaking with SUNDAY PUNCH recently, said that Daniel didn’t want to be part of the video because Reekado was featured.

Ike had explained, “He said he didn’t want to have anything to do with Reekado. We tried to sort out the issue between both of them so that we could shoot the video, but Daniel refused vehemently.

He stated, “People can say or write whatever they like, but I cannot make comments on what I don’t understand or know about. We saw the story online the same way most people saw it. I am not aware of anything.”

But a source close to Reekado said they found out about the issue when they wanted to shoot the video of ‘Selense.’

The source added, “We honestly don’t understand what went wrong. If there is an issue, it must be from Daniel’s camp. But I am still surprised. Daniel came to Reekado ’s ‘Thank You Concert’ at the New Afrika Shrine and Reekado went to his album launch as well. We got to know that there was an issue when Harrysong featured them on the remix of his song. Until Daniel comes out to speak, we don’t know what is wrong.”

Top Nigerian columnist, Femi Aribisala, has shared that God is responsible for all the evil that’s happening in the world – according to him, the devil is merely the servant of God.

In a new article he just released, he wrote:

“As a Christian, life becomes a lot easier once we take God at his word. Nevertheless, many find it difficult to do so. One area of great difficulty concerns the origin of evil.

Christians find it difficult to believe the God who is love is behind all the evil we see in this world? We would rather be diplomatic and attribute it all to the devil. However, the devil is merely the servant of God.

God says categorically he is the author of evil: “I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create evil; I, the Lord, do all these things.” (Isaiah 45:7).

Amos echoes this: “If there is calamity in a city, will not the Lord have done it? (Amos 3:6). Nothing good or bad happens outside of the will of God. The devil initiates nothing.

He only does what God permits. (Job 1:6-12). “Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it? Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both calamities and good things come? (Lamentations 3:37-38).

Thus, Job asks his wife: “Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” (Job 2:10).

Indeed, God takes issues with those inclined to limit him to one-dimension: “It shall come to pass at that time that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and punish the men who are settled in complacency, who say in their heart, ‘The LORD will not do good, nor will he do evil.’” (Zephaniah 1:12).“

Nigerian singing sensation, Tiwa Savage is reportedly enraged after Tekno and Ciara allegedly ripped off a song on her 2015 album RED titled, ‘Before Nko.’

American R&B diva, Ciara recently released a collaboration with the MMMG signed Tekno titled ‘Freak Me’ – upon the release of the song, a large number of fans were quick to point out the striking similarities between the new song and Tiwa Savage’s track.

Tiwa Savage who apparently got wind of the reports is vehemently angry about the situation.

Thenet.ng reports that they can exclusively confirm that neither Tekno nor Ciara obtained clearance or permission from Tiwa Savage before infringing on her copyright.

Meanwhile, Ciara had excitedly shared the artwork for the single, while Tekno refrained from doing so.

The reason behind his silence is said to be not be far fetched as an unnamed member of Tiwa Savage’s camp revealed that Tekno is someone Tiwa Savage considered a friendly colleague; not in the least because they both are Pepsi ambassadors and know each other well.

The source said;

“We were surprised that they went that route. They didn’t even just sample some strings, the beat and lyrics of the hook are basically the same. Tiwa is extremely upset because it seems like a rip off of her sweat.”

“They didn’t ask or inform us before the song was made. As a matter of fact, we reached out to them when we heard the song but they didn’t do us the courtesy of even responding.

This is not how to do things. Tekno himself is not sharing links to the song as much as his boss Ubi is. This is wrong.”

“It may not have been in Ciara’s place to know that the song belonged to someone else but the onus was on Tekno as the featured act and producer (who we believe gave the song to her anyway) to inform her.”

Although Tiwa Savage (along with Don Jazzy, his brother DPrince) was listed as one of the composers on streaming sites such as TIDAL, she believes that does not suffice as ‘permission’.

Nigerian rapper, Olamide has released a new song, titled, “Puna” and in a bid to promote the new track, he took to his IG page to share a quite erotic video of a lady supposedly twerking to just released song.

Upon seeing the video and its explicit content, coupled with the lyrics of the song, a fan pointed out to the artiste that the song might just get banned from the National Broadcasting Commission.

Eric Idowu is an undergraduate student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), he has been accused by one Azeez Bakare, a Youth Corp Member of absconding with phones valued at N1million. He had allegedly purchased the products with a fake credit alert.

Punch Metro learnt that Idowu had on Thursday allegedly used a fake name, Leonard Adegoke to order for the items from the Youth Corp Member.

Bakare, the Youth Corp Member said Idowu had remained elusive since the items were delivered to him at his house.

“Apart from being a corps member, I run a mobile phone business. On Thursday, August 2, around 4.30pm, I received a call from a customer, who identified himself as Leonard Adeleke. He ordered for three used iPhone 8 Plus and one brand new iPhone X. The address he gave me was no 20, University Road, Abule-Oja, Yaba, Lagos. I went there to deliver the goods around 7pm the same day.

“When I got there, I followed him to the front of his room where he checked the phones to see if they were working perfectly. After he was convinced, he collected the phones and asked for my account number, which I provided. A minute later, he showed me a debit alert on his phone and said the money had been transferred into my account.

“Both of us waited for me to receive the alert on my phone. While waiting, he said he wanted to go downstairs to turn on his generator. That was the last time I saw him as he ran away. When I searched around and could not find him. I called his telephone number, but it was switched off.”

Bakare, who said he had petitioned the Sabo Police Station on the incident, noted that one Adeleke Adegoke who lived in the house had been arrested.

“Later, I used the True Caller app on my phone to dial the number Leonard Adegoke used in placing his order. The app revealed his picture and real name as Eric Idowu.

“I showed Adeleke, who recognised Idowu from the picture. Adeleke said Idowu used to stay with the landlord’s son but had disappeared,” he added.

Bakare said it was after Adeleke had called the landlord’s son at the station that the police got a detailed information on Idowu, who was said to be an undergraduate at the University of Lagos.

“I also went to the Computer Village in Ikeja to meet with officials of the phone company because they had reported the case to SARS. I later wrote that the case should be transferred from the Sabo Police Station to SARS.

“I have informed my parents about this case. Till now, I have not paid for the phones, which I got on credit from a phone company, CSE Phones. I want the police to help me get Idowu. I want my goods back or my money and the extra cost I have spent to recover them,” he added.

On how his music career started: I’ve always liked it, I kind of fell into music through some friends who were doing music, and then I used to follow my cousin to the studio and stuff and from there, it started.

On struggles getting into music: I would say I was one of the lucky ones, the first time I ever recorded and dropped that got big, that was the first song I ever recorded, started blowing up.

On being recognized worldwide: Lucky for me I started when I was like 16, I’m 25 now so it’s been a while but now it’s like, everybody’s looking at Africa, everybody’s interested in whatever Africa’s doing, so it’s better now for us and easier for us to get stuff out there, they love the music too, it’s good music.

On his song that touches him the most: There’s one that I wrote, about 2 of my friends who died, that was ‘FIA.’

On his performance at Wireless: [It was] Great, they tried to cut me off and sh*t but the crowd was like f*ck that.

On getting love from home and internationally as well: To be honest, me, I’m not into this international stuff but I’m really doing it because I’m one of those people pioneering this movement. I have to put a cape on my back and do it for the culture but I always prefer being at home.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kalu said that Buhari had done for the zone what previous leaders, including former president, Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, could not do, especially on roads.

The former governor reportedly cited the ongoing rehabilitation of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, Enugu-Onitsha expressway and the construction of the second Niger bridge as some of Buhari’s major projects in the region.

He, however, said that the major challenge facing the zone include the deplorable state of roads and the issue of the second Niger Bridge. Kalu recalled that as the governor then, he had to dismantle all the toll gates in the state to protest federal government’s neglect of the roads in the state, but expressed joy that Buhari had been able to address the problem.

The former governor, however, decried the poor state of the Abia economy, citing the irregular payment of workers’ salaries and infrastructural deficit.

He said that most of the ongoing road projects in the state were being done by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Kalu further expressed optimism that APC would record landslide victory in Abia during the 2019 general elections.

“The party has the antidote against rigging and what it takes to win the polls at all levels in 2019.

“We will never allow anybody to rig us out of elections in Abia again. We shall match them force by force and money for money,” he said.

He urged APC leadership not to be weighed down by the gale of defections from the party, saying that “defection is a personal decision.”

“It is their decision to defect to other parties, but it is also our choice to remain in APC.”

Mr Kalu stressed the need for APC to nominate credible candidates that would dislodge any opponent of its governorship candidates, in State and National Assemblies.

“The power to elect the party flag bearers is in your hands.

“Give us good candidates and we will match the powers-that-be in the state, any how they want it.

“You should not vote for aspirants on sentiments. Vote for aspirants based on their track record and proven competence.”

A U.S based Pastor based has reportedly committed suicide in Massachusetts after engagement photographs of the girlfriend he left only a month ago in Uganda, went viral.

His lifeless body was found at the state cemetery on Monday afternoon and the police in Watertown, a suburb of Boston City, the capital of Massachusetts State, are investigating possible suicide.


Abel Ayinza was an adopted son of Pastor Samuel Mutyaba of New Life Christian International Church in Watertown, Massachusetts. His girlfriend was identified only as Juliet.

Photographs showed her wearing a red gomesi while the man wore a kanzu and jacket.

“He was so depressed when the photographs went viral and it became quite difficult for him to bear,” Simple Nsereko, a Ugandan living in Boston, said.

Further sources alleged that Juliet is also a U.S citizen, but left the country, recently, on grounds of checking on her family in Uganda, only to resurface in an engagement with another lover.

While speaking at a masterclass event themed “Dealing with Depression”, Made Men Music Group (MMMG)record label founder, Ubi Franklin, shared a personal history of depression.

Ubi who spoke on the masterclass which was focused on the principles of human flourishing, well-being and living a life leveraging positive emotions, healthier habits and powerful self-awareness practices, shared stories about his previous suicidal thoughts.

According to TheCable, the father-of-one explained the need to avoid creating negative pictures in the mind or attaching importance to specific dates that represent bad moments, but instead use such days or moments as an impetus for success.

He said: “There’s never a right moment to commit suicide. It’s all about the mind. Depression is usually created through silent pressure which will create a negative mindset, perception, or the compulsion to live our lives in order not to disappoint our parents, families or communities.”

Popular singer, Banky W, who also spoke at the event, shared a deeply personal exploration of how he dealt with and overcame depression, and recommended a “love yourself enough to try” attitude to life.
