Rheumatism Arthritis is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system which normally protect the body by attacking foreign substances like bacteria and virus, mistakenly attack the joint.
Although there is no current cure for the condition,still a healthy diet,proper rest,stress management and regular exercise can help improve your quality of life. moreover medications and complementary treatment can also help to relieve pain's and reduce inflammation,also disease modifying drugs can ease symptoms, prevent joint damage or help put the condition in remission.
RELAXATION
Getting enough sleep is important for everyone but it's especially important for those with RA. try to get at least eight hours of sleep every night. if your sleep is being negatively affected because you're feeling overly stressed, then guided imagery, deep breathing exercise and muscle relaxation exercise can help you relax.
EXERCISE
Regular exercise is a great way to fight fatigue, strengthen muscles. gentle stretching, walking even swimming may help's a lot but avoid high impact sports and take it easy when joints are tendered or severely inflamed.
CREAMS GELS/LOTIONS
Topical creams, gels and lotions can be rubbed directly onto the skin to help ease painful joint. as the skin absorbs the ingredients, you may experience temporary relief. tropical ointments can also come in spray form or patches. the products that contains camphor, salicylates, capsaicin and menthol are always the best.
FISH OIL SUPPLEMENT
few studies have shown that fish oil supplements may help reduce pain and stiffness due to RA though it may interfere with certain medications and increase the likelihood of bruising or bleeding with fish taste in the mouth. so check your doctor before using it.
ASPIRIN OR NONSTEROIDAL ANTIINFLAMMATORY DRUGS
These drugs can provide temporary relief of pains an inflammation. the drugs include ibuprofen,celecoxib,oxaprozin,salsalate,and piroxicam. all prescription of NSAIDs have a warning that the medication may increase the chance of having a heart attack, stroke or stomach bleeding. so see your doctor first.
TARGETED MEDICATIONS
The following medications are also used to treat Rheumatism Arthritis
*hydroxychloroquine:it may take up to three month to take effect.
*methotrexate:it suppresses the immune system.
*sulfasalazine:suppresses the immune system.
*minocycline:used as an antiinflammatory, it blocks metalloproteins.
*oral corticosteroid:for fast and short term symptoms.
SURGERY
Surgery helps to correct deformities and help ease pain's in advanced RA patient. the most common surgery for RA is total joint replacement including shoulders hips and knees.
