@Akola
He's past dealings with oil sure make him a business man and you throw a good argument with his management acquisitions, but i still don't see the effect the management of Chelsea has made to aid us on the pitch since last season. I'll address that at the close of my post.

For Chelsea to succeed as a commercial product, we need to win the hearts of neutrals and glory hunting fans around the world. The main way to do this is to continue winning trophies. Two trophies - CL and EPL - are of the most importance. However, this is not enough. We need to play attractive football or at least something close to that. In JM's 1st season, our winged display with the likes of Duff, Robben and Cole drew admiration. We were not as fluent as Arsenal or as counter attacking as ManU but that style gave us a trademark. Also our die hard spirit and winning attitude would come in handy.

Another thing that may help is making an Icon or something of a Celeb from one of our stars. It has to be a good looking person that plays well on the pitch, is fluent in english and possible has sex audience appeal. I'd pick out Mikel Obi for that. Some polishing is needed though.

We have to play friendlies in other continents and do some sort of tour. Establishing business relationships in strong commercial cities in US, Asia and Africa where club merchandise can be sold too would help tremendously.

One thing we can not forget is that we would have to build a trophy cabinet that would be the envy of others. We can not win the CL or EPL once and rest on our laurels, we must continue and show some consistency in winning stuff.

Now back to the management. I think our management have made some dreadful decisions that has cost us a lot this season. One fact is that the only true blue we have in management is Chairman Bruce Buck. Chief Executive Kenyon and Director Tenenbaum are not strictly Chelsea fans. Its just business and I fear they lack that extra passion a supporter has. Management has failed to curb the wages being wasted paid out. One thing that continually bothers me is Crespo, who we continue to pay half of this £90k wage a week for doing nothing. How the board can let Shevy and Ballack ask for so much knowing we have pillars like JT and Lampard too is beyond me. If the so called galacticos refused to take less than JT and Lampard why not offer them the same.

Another thing i don't understand is HOW they can overrule a manager in making transfer decision. JM wanted Gallas to stay but they sold him. He did not want Shevy and Ballack, yet they bought them. He wanted a defender in January and was refused funds. His job was linked with a new manager every week since January and they waited till late April to squash the rumours. Does not Kenyon know how all this can affect the dressing room spirit?

Having said all that, the management has been great in some other areas. Our UK fan base has grown from 1m to 3.8m in 3 years, our European fan base has Chelsea’s UK fan base has grown from 10.6 million to 19.2 million in two years .

Politics › Re: What Do You Think Of Yar'dua 's Inaugural Speech? by danniecool(m): 5:44pm On May 31, 2007
I think Umaru Musa Yar'adua was little bit confused on his inaugural Speech,

How can him? After receiving the mantle of leadership, in his right sense still address, Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, "My President' and His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo" that was simply nonsense to my best of view, it show that Obasanjo is Still the president,

Imagine, the normal procedure is for him to start his speech by addressing His VICE first, Senate and Attorney General of the federation before any other person, instead he started by addressing Obasajo as Mr President, grin lipsrsealed

Hello Honourable Chelsea fans
Sports › Chelsea In First Africa Visit by danniecool(op): 9:59am On May 25, 2007
Chelsea Football Club is embarking on our first humanitarian visit to Africa with our Global Charity Partner, Right To Play.

Manager José Mourinho, Chelsea FC Player of the Year and Ghanaian international Michael Essien and several young players will be in Ghana from May 29 until June 3 to visit projects run by Right To Play.

The visit is the first major initiative in the six-year partnership announced between Chelsea and Right To Play at the House of Commons in January 2007. Chelsea will also be bringing several coaches on the trip, headed by Academy manager Neil Bath.

Chelsea will be conducting play sessions for children in Accra and Tamale as well as holding coaching demonstrations for the Right To Play coaches who are integral to the charity's purpose of raising awareness about disease, war and poverty through sport.

Mourinho said: 'Everyone at the club is fully behind the work of Right To Play and we are all proud to support them. I'm sure our relationship will benefit thousands of kids throughout the world, starting with this visit to Ghana.

'Sport, particularly football, has a certain power. It is a world language, something where cultural difference does not matter. If you are in London, Lisbon or Accra, if you put down

ball and start to kick it, everyone knows what you are doing, there is no need to explain it.

'Because it is the world language you can reach everybody and if you have a big status in the game you have a big responsibility to use that power properly. And what better way to use it than for kids around the world to be healthier, fitter, fight disease, war, poverty. Football can and should help with this. It also reminds you that there are more important things than football.'

Essien, who is one of the Chelsea/Right To Play Ambassadors, added: 'As a Chelsea and Ghana player it is great to make a commitment to helping children in Africa and other areas of the world. I am particularly looking forward to getting involved in my home country.'
Chelsea chose Right To Play as our Global Charity Partner because of its approach to global citizenship. It is also a "recognised organisation" by the International Olympic Committee.

It works not only with disadvantaged communities and countries around the world but also with those who can use their position in society to become advocates of the charity's aims and raise awareness about them by using the positive power of sport.

Chris Robinson, Right To Play's UK Director, said: 'It shows how serious Chelsea are about our long-term partnership that this visit to Ghana to see our work in the field was one of the first things we discussed. It is going to be inspiring for our local Right To Play coaches and, of course, the children to have Chelsea players and coaches showing such direct nterest in them.

'I am sure the week will have a tremendous positive impact and we are really impressed how enthusiastic everyone at Chelsea have been about the trip particularly because it eats into precious close-season personal time.'

The trip has a dual role for Chelsea. As well as being a major initiative in the club's Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, it also serves as part of our young players' education in what is expected of them as first team players of the future.

Guyz don't You think Chelsea have began to recognise Africa, regarding the fact that the past three years her major success has been from the leg of an African.

Do you think is a good thing for an African country??
