The size can actually be increased considering more of its daylight usage but that will kind of rule out its portability.
Its effectiveness at night has nothing to do with its size before ray of red lights plus the blinking modes seem more than enough to create awareness.

In the other hand, I think people can have two such that during daylight, the two would be placed kind of side by side appropriate meters far from the car/vehicle. That made to ask as question for the reason the most common C-Caution has two pieces in it.
