Just gathered that the Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the death of the Acting Divisional Police Officer in charge of Yaba Police Division Ondo Town, Ondo State, Aminu Mustapha.

Late Mustapha was said to have lost his life in a fatal motor accident on Ondo/Ore Expressway at Omifon area in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Sunday evening. According to a source in the command, the officer was travelling to visit his family members when the accident occurred.

was told that his son was also in the Toyota Camry car in which the deceased was traveling. The son however did not die in the accident but sustained injuries.

“The accident occurred at about 7pm on Sunday evening. The DPO’s car somersaulted when he was traveling at Omifon area with his son and he died immediately. But the son survived the accident with injuries. He is currently in the hospital receiving treatment” a source said.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident, saying the death of the officer was a great loss to the Command saying “the death of Mustapha came to us as a rude shock, we will greatly miss him in this Command.”

A Saudi Prince, Mansour Bin Muqri, reportedly died in a helicopter crash “while performing an inspection in remote parts of the governorate”.

Spokeswoman for the Saudi embassy in Washington told NBC News, that the crash occurred near the Yemeni border on Sunday afternoon, a day after the Kingdom’s young crown prince ordered a shocking purge of princes and some of the country’s most influential leaders.

Prince Mansour, son of Prince Muqrin Bin Abdulaziz, a former intelligence director and one-time crown prince of the kingdom, was killed in the crash alongside 7 others.

Dino Melaye, lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, escaped a mob attack at the Kabba Day celebration in Kogi State yesterday.

Punch newspaper reports that Melaye, who arrived at the venue at about 11am, was welcomed by a mammoth crowd as he was seen snapping pictures with supporters.

The Senator was then invited to make comments and announce his donation before the arrival of Governor Yahaya Bello, who was already in Kabba for the occasion.

Shortly after he announced a donation of N3m, Melaye headed for his car, and some thugs started throwing stones and other missiles at him as he made for his Mercedes Benz G-wagon.

The security men resorted to using tear gas to bring the situation under control.

Meanwhile, all the security apparatus of the state governor, led by his Aide-De-Camp and the chief details, were at the venue ahead of the governor, who was expected to grace the occasion.

Punch’s correspondent gathered that the governor refused to show up for the programme after learning of Melaye’s attack, and instead sent his donation of N20m on behalf of the state government.

The swift intervention of security personnel on the ground saved the day as one of the thugs was arrested and whisked away in a van with number plate PS 300 A/0.

Meanwhile, Melaye has alleged that Governor Yahaya Bello knew about the attack on him.

A statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Gideon Ayodele, which confirmed the attack on the lawmaker, however, claimed that his “superlative” outing at the event might have angered Bello and the Kogi State Government officials at the venue.

One week after a 39-year-old man, Lukman Olowu, and a woman, Promise Nne, were found dead half-naked in a car on a Lagos street, their families say they were awaiting results of the autopsies that would clear up speculations about their relationship and death.

Reports claimed that Lukman and Nne were lovers but while the man’s family insisted that he could not possibly be the woman’s lover, Nne’s husband, Clement, said he knew that she was having an affair.

spoke with Lukman’s brother, Idris, who explained that the family was leaving the matter in the hands of the police, while awaiting the result of the autopsy.

“We cannot say much now because of ongoing police investigation but I can tell you that we have much to tell you later when the autopsy is out,” he said.

Lukman and Nne were found dead in a Toyota Corolla with its engine running last Sunday on Abisogun Leigh Street, Ogba.

When our correspondent visited No. 56, Shonola Street, where Clement’s family are, but some men claiming to be his relations, said “he is not allowed to talk to journalists”.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Mr. Olarinde Famous-Cole, also said investigation was still ongoing.

According to him, there was little the police could do until the results of autopsies conducted were out.

Following report that Alaafin of Oyo’s son Tillaman was assaulted by a Policeman, the singer who sat for an interview with Showtime, narrated what really happened between him and the Police Officer.

According to him, the Police Officers who stopped him at a checkpoint along Abraham Adesanya, Lagos-Epe Express-way on Monday night suspecting that he was drunk, didn’t even care if he was Monarch’s son.

Here’s what he said;

“I’ve had experiences with police but I’ve not had it this bad. At about 12 midnight on Monday, at a police checkpoint along Abraham Adesanya express way, Epe, a policeman asked me to park on the road, at a roundabout, I told him to allow me park properly to prevent being hit by another vehicle or cause traffic jam.

As I did so, he kept asking if I wanted to run him over, I told him I couldn’t because I’m friends with the police; he said I was speaking English, and called me a bastard, cocking his gun but I just laughed it off thinking it was the regular police drama,” said the badly-shaken singer who has promised to press charges.

“I wasn’t asked for my vehicle particulars or what I do for a living; they just began searching my car! When they saw that my friend was recording, one of them collected her phone and threatened to slap her.

I cautioned him for attempting to slap an unarmed lady and he threatened to slap me too if I didn’t shut up. He then cocked his gun and pointed it at my chest threatening to shoot me.

At that point I had to reveal my true identity to save my life and to prevent the public from getting a wrong impression about me. I needed to protect my name because anybody could have made video recordings.

Even after telling him I’m the Alaafin of Oyo’s son, he still pointed his gun at my chest, saying “God punish you and you papa, who you and your papa be”, he said, saying he could not fathom what brought about the anger in them.

“I had done nothing wrong so I was baffled at the way they harassed me. My survival instinct just told me at that point that there might be an accidental discharge.

So to protect myself I waved the gun away from my chest with my left hand, he tried to slap me but I dodged it; but before I knew it his colleague grabbed me from behind, squeezed my neck and ripped off my shirt.”

According to Tillaman, he suspected one of them was drunk so he had to be smart about saving his life from the drunk and trigger happy police.

“While one of them wrestled me from behind, I did what I could to prevent the other from shooting me because his breath reeked of alcohol; he was intoxicated and furious so I couldn’t allow him to continue pointing the gun at me.

Eventually, their boss came and quelled the situation after seeing my name, Adeyemi Adetona, Alaafin of Oyo, engraved on my stomach because my shirt was already ripped in pieces. But before then he was dragging me to the station, not until he saw my name.

But the drunk policeman said I was lucky because if not for his boss he would have shot me and nothing would happened”.
