If i may correct a misinformation in the post, COSON is not the only CMO authorised to collect royalties on behalf of musicians. There is a Federal High Court judgement validating the MSCN and authorising it to collect royalties on behalf of musicians. There's no where in the Copyright Act that says only one Collecting society should collect royalties in the industry it services

Actually, it isn't copyright litigation. As you can see, the registrar of Trademarks is joined as the third defendant. I guess it pertains to registration of trademarks ( probably the name 'runtown') but it's also within the realm of IP, so yeah the Federal High Court should be the appropriate court to institute the action. And Runtown's lawyers should be wiser. After filing a PO, I'd have expected them to appeal the injunction and obtain a stay from the court of appeal...It's obviously borders on jurisdiction, hence the appellate court will most likely grant the stay, thereby vacating the injunction

The situation we find ourselves in this country is disheartening. Our leaders live La vida loca, whereas 70% of the general populace is on less than $1 every day. It's sheer Wickedness and trust me, these guys lack a conscience. I pray we experience a huge revolution, the kind that took place in North Africa around 2011. A vast majority of comments glaringly show that most of y'all are ill-informed as regards IP laws . Firstly, Intellectual property has 3 branches viz Copyright, Patents and Trademarks. Secondly, for copyright protection (which sir uwaifo is claiming under), you don't have to register your work as protection is automatic as long as it satisfies the requirements of originality and fixation....Thirdly, in certain instances,mere titles can be protected under the law.This is where the person claiming ownership of such word can prove he birthed such word or such word arose from his coinage...Now,i don't know much about the origin of the word 'Joromi' but if uwaifo can prove he's the innovator of the word, as well as the meaning ascribed to it as used by Simi in the song, then she's in trouble big time

The Nigerian Law School has released summary of the just concluded Bar Part II exam that was held in July, 29th 2017. In this year’s performance total number of 5,891 students participated in the Bar Part II examination while 4,285 were successful. A further breakdown of the results showed that candidates with first class accounted for 29 (65.6%), candidates with second class upper are 211(3.6) in number . 1.046 (17. cool

candidates made second class lower while candidates with conditional Pass are 334 (5.7%). The total number of 1,272 (21.6%) failed the Bar Final examination.
Lagos Campus has 14 first class out of a total of 29 first class. Lagos Campus came first in the cumulative results in all the individual courses Lagos Campus has the best overall performance, having come first in the entire result (cumulatively) with 79% pass rate. The second position goes to Abuja Campus and Yenagoa Campus who each got 73% while the 3rd position goes to Yola Campus
