Bro... They wont notice. Get your Local Government letter first. The essence is to tell them that you're truly from that LGA. if asked tell them u used your MUM lga or something before you got this one from your dad. They wont notice anyways. Collect it like dat
alright I'll just add an affidavit to it as someone suggested.

It was grandma that explain to your dad his origin?!
Who does that?
Honestly, it doesn't make sense, seem youre hiding something, anyways- you can choose your mother's state of origin too.
I hope you know where your mother comes from?
or is she a soldier too?
Meanwhile, what's your surname?
Wether grandma explain it to my dad or not, I now know where I am from I have met dad's extended family and state of origin is not a debate again. all I need to know now is how there won't be any discrepancy in my other documents I obtained before... my surname is Olaniyan. And I know where my mum is from.
Thanks anyway.

Certificate of origin is issued by local govt not OPU. It is only LG that is authorized to issue such. All u need do is to approach LG. perhaps ur dad may be nursing political ambition in osun state which may be reason he's claiming the state.
Not all schs request for this shit. I only got to know about cert of origin when I got admission into fedpoly in ede in 2002. And I presented cert of origin issued by LG then.
All federal and state institution request for it, to get certificate of origin in osogbo you need to go through OPU first before you can proceed to LG.

Go and do affidavit for previous certificates and onward fill in Oyo state as your state of origin and stop claiming Osun
I've been considering this, I just hope it is enough to rectify everything.

Osun, Oyo, stay one place and stop confusing your life.
Why will you father lie to you about Osun?
And how did you get to know you're from OYO?!

See, from Lagos to Ondo, SW will not give you shitt, else you fake it.
I suggest you go to Aba or Onitsha, Igbos no dey verify cos Dem no get extended family.

Just get the form and put 51, iweka road, onitsha, na one time.
I am not trying to confuse myself, I'm ready to obtain another state of origin but discrepancy in my documents about my state of origin will give me problem, just need help on how to sort it out.
Not like my dad actually lied to me, his dad was in the military and he did not get to spend much time with his dad, he spend most of his early life with his mum, after retiring from the military my grandad spend the rest of his life in osogbo where built his house and I guess that made my dad assume he was from osun.
it was my grandma that explained to my dad that he is from oyo and it wasn't really hard to locate our ancestral lineage in Oyo because my grand was a prince just don't know why he settled in osogbo.

Hello nairalanders, I need enlightenment, advice, solution on this issue bothering me.
All my life me and my siblings have been told we are osogbo in osun state and so we've always input osun state as the state of origin, from my birth certificate to my ssce result which is the highest qualification I have now, all state I'm from osun.
Problem started when I want to obtain the local government of origin certificate for admission purpose because all schools require it, I was directed to Osogbo people union (OPU), when I got there I was told I need to obtain a form and fill my data into it, and indicate my ancestral compound in the form, at this point I had no clue what to input into the space so I called my Dad, he told me to fill in his own surname which I did. The form was taken to the house bearing the name my dad gave me, so as to verify if we are really from there and also for the oldest member of the family to sign the form, but I was rejected there I was told they don't know anybody in the family who is a Christian and also they are not familiar with my father's name, I was never given the certificate.
N.B. Later got to know that we are actually from oyo State, Atiba local government.
The problem now is that all my documents indicate I'm from osun state and I was told I can't be issued local government of origin certificate but only local government residency certificate in osun
I want to know is it possible to use local government residency certificate in place of local of origin certificate.
olawalebabs , Fynestboi , Richiez , mynd44 please help me move it to front page.

lol I'm not yet a boss I just started the journey ooo.
When looking for a uni first look for a uni that barely or doesn't consider olevel.Your olevel isn't bad,and some seniors I know in med school aren't good at maths.Just that your olevel won't be enough of the school highly considers olevel.
It also depends on financial ability.
If you have money go for a private uni.
There's uniosun too, which is your catchment area.
If not go to UI or oau tho these are very competitive.I don't know much about universities in the north but there might be a good one there that would suit you.
Aim for that 320 too,if u get it fine,if you don't still fine.
I believe all these kind of things are by God's grace. We do the best we can do as humans and leave the rest for God.
Appreciate.

sorry for the late response sir.
I like the fact that you know your weak points and you've identified and acknowledged it, hence, the willingness to improve abides.
Sincerely speaking, my SSCE is worse than yours ( all C) and I'm in 400L now Unijos.
1. Catchment areas as regards admission into Nigerian universities has been abolished but implementation may be an issue.
2. Your determination to succeed at the forth coming UTME is achievable and I would advise you make I so.
3. I've always advised people come to the North for medical school and my reasons are
a. Less competition form the western and Eastern states (I'm from the SE)
b. Cost of living is cheap (arguable)
c. No unnecessary demands from lecturer to buy any stuff eg books and so on.
d. Fees are considerably cheap too.
e. Admission process is quite transparent ( can't speak of BUK and ABU, both schools are good but in terms of admission, I can't say)
f. Meeting with great minds form all over Nigeria.

4. Also look out for other schools with less competition with regards to people from your state..
5. If u know people, use your contacts ooo, cuz it's important now.
best bro
thanks for taking your time to reply me sir, what is the mode of admission into unijos?

As ShahRukhKhan has stated above the catchment stuff though has been abolished might still be used (Naija way).
Since you're from Osun state I'll recommend OAU too. You have a better chance there. And also their UTME is 50% post utme 40% and O'level 10% which according to what I heard is different from that of Unilag.

But at the end of the day, be sure to understand the system of the school you chose. Very important.

Also make sure you do your possible best to score as high as possible in your Utme to boost your chances.
Thanks for the suggestion

Thanks. please what is the quota for BDS in unimaid and what is the admission process like??

Getting mbbs is more of personal decision than motivation. Your Olevel is not weak per se. Mine is just a little bit better. The fact that you are truthful to yourself in knowing that 257 in utme and12 in post utme is low for mbbs in unilag shows that you're ready to improve.
Since what you need is suggestions and not beating, dig into those books and ace utme first.
When your utme score is out, there will be arrays of university to choose from. Catchment stuffs is abolished but we all know how slow regulations take to get into practice so you can still put in for OAU.
And not all Medical students are math genius - just know the basics and a little bit of help here and there, you are good to go.
By the way, go back to page 664. There are helpful posts there too
Thanks I really appreciate, reason I choose unilag before was because it has the highest quota in admitting student into BDS program, and osun state falls under its catchment area. like you said I should try and Ace my utme first and that's what I am going to focus on now.

hello bosses in the house. I'm a medical aspirant, dentistry to be precise as we all know 2020 jamb is almost out but I have major problem which is I don't know which University I am going to choose yet. I am from osun state I put in unilag during the last jamb but my olevel is kinda of weak, 3b3, 1c4, and 1c5 also I flopped in the postume maths is not my thing so I end up scoring 12 in the postutme and also I had 257 in jamb, in short it all end in tears. I have gotten the necessary textbooks for the jamb and I am positive I am going to do better than before I am actually aiming for 320 now. I need suggestions on the best institution to put considering my state of origin, olevel result and my deficiency in maths.
please I need urgent reply.
