Everyone one is always talking about starting a business, but no one is talking about how to register a business in Nigeria. So here we will be explaining several steps to register your business in Nigeria.
So are you planning to start a business in Nigeria or possibly running a business that is not currently registered, it is advisable to quickly register your business before someone else does.
So to register your business in Nigeria is a simple task. To get your business registered in Nigeria, you will need to go through The Corporate Affairs Commission also known as (CAC). The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) is the governmental body responsible for registering businesses , corporations and companies in Nigeria.
Corporate Affairs Commission was established by the Companies and Allied Matters Act , which was promulgated in 1990 to regulate the formation and management of companies in Nigeria.
We shall go through different steps to register your business in Nigeria.

Types of Business You can Register in Nigeria

Business Name: Sole Proprietorship (One man’s Business):
Private Limited Company (LTD)
Public Limited Company
Company Limited by Guarantee etc

Why You Should Register your business in Nigeria

So that someone else doesn’t register your business
To become a registered and recognized business
To be able to open an account
You cannot get a loan without a business name
Government and top organisations don’t give out contracts to businesses that are not registered
It makes you a legitimate business

How to register your business in Nigeria

You can either register your business online or offline. Either of the two you will have to complete your final registration by visiting the office of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) closest to you.
1. Online Registration: Visit The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) official website on cac.gov.ng, click on “Click here to go to Company Registration Portal (CRP)” to register on the website or click “Public Name Search” to check if your business name is available.

Please note that Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has the right to disapprove name(s) that are
• capable of misleading as to the nature and extent of its activities
• undesirable, offensive or contrary to public policy
• identical with or similar to the name of a registered company unless the registered company is in the course of dissolution and consents in writing
• contain the phrase “Chamber of Commerce” unless it is a company limited by guarantee
• would violate any existing trade mark or business name unless with the consent of the trade mark or business name owner
• would violate any incorporated trustee unless with consent of the trustees

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has announced that Dr. Akinwunmi Adeshina, its president and former minister of agriculture under ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, will visit Nigeria today, Monday, September 26 to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.The AfDB says Adesina will “meet policy-makers, the private sector, and development partners to discuss the challenges facing Nigeria and highlight the AfDB’s commitment to further strengthen its partnership with Nigeria”. “I am very much looking forward to my first official visit to Nigeria as President of the AfDB. Nigeria is a vital shareholder and partner for the Bank. The Nigerian economy is in a critical phase, and in these difficult times, we have to make sure we all work together to tackle the challenges facing Africa’s largest economy,” Adesina said ahead of his trip.

National Youth Service Corps has raised the alarm over increasing deaths among those of its members serving in in Bayelsa state. The alarm was raised after another member, Ogundare Opeyemi slumped and died in the Nembe area of Bayelsa state. Punch reports that the deceased slumped a day after he had a party with his colleagues in the area of his primary assignment.A day after the party, he complained of a health- related issue and before we knew what was happening he slumped and died,” a source, who craved anonymity told Punch. His remains were later picked up by his kinsmen from the mortuary of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa where it was deposited, for conveyance to Ekiti, his home state for burial. Hundreds of corps members went in large number to the mortuary, crying uncontrollably as Opeyemi’s remains were removed from the facility.

Should the President Muhammadu Buhari led FG proceed with its propose sale of nationals assets to fund the 2016 budget, organized labour including NLC, TUC, NUPENG, PENGASSAN said they are set for mass revolt, civil unrest worse than the anti-SAP riots of 1989. The minister for Budget and Planning Minister, Udoma Udo Udoma however said the Federal Government would not sell critical national assets to shore up its foreign reserves as well as have funds to retool the economy against the current downward plunge. However labour said it is ready to shut Nigeria over the planned sale, which they argued would not profit the nation but a few privileged Nigerians. While reacting, PENGASSAN said; “Any attempt to sell these national assets will be met with stiff resistance from the Association, as PENGASSAN will galvanize every support, including that of our sister union and labour centres, to shut down this country by ensuring that every activity in the oil and gas sector is brought down

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a 44-year-old man, Eseosasere Gift Osifo, for alleged impersonation and fraud. disgraceful practices The Nation reports that the suspect was arraigned before an Osogbo magistrates’ court yesterday, September 22, for creating a Facebook account using details of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to defraud unsuspected victims. According to the prosecutor, Mr Onoche Ekwom, principal legal officer, of the DSS, said the accused committed the offence between January and August before he was arrested and brought to the court. Ekwon told the court that the accused used the account to extort money from unsuspected victims on several occasions before he fell prey to the last victim which led to his arrest. The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 484 and 422 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2002. On his part, the accused pleaded not guilty to the two- count charge of impersonation and fraud.the case was adjourn
