conyema12: My wife was diagnosed of HBV recently, and after a series of follow up tests, it was discovered that she is a chronic career. Her Lever funtion test is ok and the ultra-sound result is also good, However the viral load was also carried out and she was found to have 3980 ul\ml. And from the HBV profile the virus has not started replicating. The doctor also recommended that I also do HBV test, which turn out to be negative.
Finally He suggested that she goes for treatment which will run for 48 weeks and it will take us over 1million, but there are chances that it might not extend to 48 if the load becomes un-detectable. He also recommends that I get myself vaccinated which will run for like 6 months before we even consider intimacy, and making babies.

My questions are,

1. If she really has it, why am I not infected since we have been intimate for over a year.

2. will the treatment completely make her HBV negative if we complete it.

3. What are the chances of our kids being infected even when they are being injected with the immunoglobulin and vaccine after birth.

4. What are the necessary precautions I need to take to avoid future damage.

5. What are the chances of her infecting me if we take all these precautions?

6. Is it possible that she is chronic even with the viral load at 3890ul/ml or acute.

I really love my wife I need solutions.

am asking all this questions cos i too was jst told am HBV ve after undergoing a pre-employment medicals.
How can i knw if what they said i have is acute or chronic type.
If the treatment cost that much then my only hope here is divine healing from God cos i dnt knw where i can get a million naira frm nw without a job. May God help us all.

It is not right for you to be excluded from a job in a financial institution based on a diagnosis of hepatitis. However, na Naija we dey.

Hepatitis B is usually self limiting and most people clear the infection within 6 months. because it is a virus, there is really no great treatment for it. So, people who do not clear the infection may be tried on antiviral drugs which have a lot of side effects and may even be unsuccessful.

I don't know what you mean by convincing the doctors because they have to be ethical and professional. So, I don't think they will be able to exclude those results.

By the way, why do you need a hepatitis panel to be done in order to work in the financial sector? It shouldn't be a required test, but like I said earlier, Na Naija we dey.

Do you have a copy of the lab results? If you do, I may be able to tell you if this is a chronic infection, or it might be a recent infection which might clear up soon.

Also, hepatitis B is highly infectious through exchange of body fluids - Blood transfusions, s.exual intercourse. So please try to protect your loved ones from your body fluids, so that they do not become infected.

Actually i dnt have the test result for now cos i was jst told am hep B ve. I was also advice to go for a comprehensive test to determine if its acute or chronic. I made some research and i got to understand that they are three tests i will need to do to properly access the virus and those tests can be done in NIMR yaba. Bt the fee involve is what i dnt have nw.
My question nw is, is it all companies including Government parastatals that discreminate against hep B?
Cos i really i need a job nw to even consider any form of treatment or test.
Bt in the mean time, i feel fine and am trusting God for diving healing.

i really need ur advice, after searching for a job for almost three years, i was told to cme for a pre-employment medicals with a company, bt after the medicals i was told i wnt get the job anymore cos i am hepatitis B positive. I felt so bad cos i tot all my toiling in school to get a 2.1 has finally yield diviend. Since then i ve bin reading abt heb B and a possible cure bt frm my research, there is no known cure for nw so i have bin beleiving God for healing cos right nw i dnt even have enough money to feed talk more of treating hep B which i understand is very expensive. Bt the good thing is that, i feel fine and i hardly fall sick and even if am to treat myself, i need a job which i dnt have for nw. My dilemma nw is this, ave bin invited for another pre-employment medicals for a job in a financial institution, i really really need this job and am scared of being rejected again even though i believe i wnt be a health risk to others in the organization,
So PLS WHAT DO I dO? How to i convience the doctors during the medicals to consider my plight. Thanks everyone in anticipation for ur advice.
