Help! I'm unable to save or proceed past the 'Activities' section of my visa application. It keeps saying the questionnaire isn't answered even though it's 100% complete. I've tried different PCs already. Has anyone found a fix for this?

I don't know what you have been discussing with @OyotunjiUSA but for the interest of others ; your travel passport is your personal property and the 2nd entity who is your next of kin on the property is the Nigeria government.

Therefore, if your visa is approved and you asked the visa officer to give back your passport for urgent use, of course the officer can place you on 221G and ask you to come back or courier your passport.

But according to my observation and information from the like of Oyotunji, if such visa applicant is a criminal or wanted and the embassy still want to do background checks on him or her , your passport will not be given to you. The consular will ask you to write a formal letter.

I am back with an update.

First, I thank everyone who contributed to this conversation and shared their experiences. I went to the Embassy following the invitation I received to come in. It was a long and painful wait; it took 4 hours to get to my turn. My appointment was for 6:45am and I got interviewed at past 10am!

My passport was held up in the embassy and was handed over to me (window 10) upon the presentation of the invitation email and my national ID. I went to window 6 to capture my finger prints and then joined the interview waiting line.

Back story: Refer to my feedback on Feb 20, 2019 after my interview.

- This time:

Vo: Good morning
Me: Good morning! as I dropped and laid my documents on the counter
Vo: There was an incidence in 2018.... She mumbled a bit and didn't appear sure of the incident.
Me: It was in 2017 not 2018. It was an incident in Detroit at the point of entry and went on the state what happened like I had done before. Note: I narrated my story repeatedly in 2 previous interviews and had my application approved.
Vo: We have no evidence that you were allowed in at the time.
Me: I was let in, alongside my mum and my son. My stay was for 5 weeks, I left from MCO airport on Nov. 9th 2017.
Vo: Please confirm that date again
Me: My return date was Nov 9th, however there was a bomb scare in MCO on that day which caused significant delays, we eventually left on the 10th.
Vo: You realize that the officer at the point of entry was right and made the right judgement?
Me: I don't agree, my mum and I are independent adults, we do not have the same surname because I am married, she is a member of my extended family. We may have been travelling together but should be allowed her own cash allocation.
Vo: Looks at me sternly and says "You need to stop arguing"
Me: Okay
Vo: Typing....... shuts the window and says she will be back shortly.
Vo: Do you have the passport with the visa?
Me: No, its expired. I didn't realize it would be required. However, I am able to speak to all my previous visas and travel history.
Vo: I would need to see the visa.
Me: If you give me about 45mins, I can get it.
Vo: Fills a form and says we close at 12 today.
Me: I will be back before 12, don't worry!

No jokes, As I was leaving some people waiting were clapping, a few thumbs up and winks..... as per it was a gbas gbos! She had a microphone so everyone could hear us, I spoke loudly to match the energy.

I got back around 11:30am with the passport, the line was short and I explained to the security man that I needed to show the particular lady my old passport.

Vo: Scans the old passport, reviews and scrolls her mouse......and types

Me: Just looking and listening to others

Vo: Your application has been approved; your passport will be ready in 1 week.

Me: Okay, thank you

It was when I left that I remembered I planned to request expedited service

I have paid for the visa fee and I input the bank reference number in my Avits account bank deposit details section. It says the payment is updated but it doesn't take me past that page. How do I move forward to the appointment calendar?

Hi, its must likely a glitch. I experienced this in september.

You may need to open a ticket. Attach your First bank invoice and receipt of payment. By the time its been resolved, you'll be able to book an appointment.

1. I did not state that you belong to any. It was a sample reference, indicating 221g scenarios. Well, you never can't tell because the USA embassy will not tell you if you happen to answer same name with a wanted criminal or terrorist. Nobody is clean, once put on 221g - administrative process , aka background checks.

Please I have a follow up question. My passport has still not been sent back despite my request. Therefore, I will attend the interview as scheduled by the embassy. Have you heard of a scenario where a visa is approved, and I can tell the officer to give me my passport? i can submit it for the stamp later, not immediately? I don't trust that my polite request to the officer for an expedited return will be honoured. They should give me the passport 1st, then i can submit it later.

what do you think about this Sir?

Why did they even change to this new site when it's so hard for them to do the basic things?

I had this problem too!

#1. Create a ticket stating your complain
#2. Attach a copy of your invoice and the receipt of payment to this case
#3. Submit

Give it a few days to be resolved. pele o!

* It has not happened to me before , but it has happened to few people i know, but not in the way you have described it.

1. If you have written the Lagos consular at " LagosNIV@state.gov demanding your passport for unexpected or urgent travel, while your VISA application is pending additional processing, and your request is granted as having fulfilled the return criteria, what the embassy usually do is to "forward your passport to VISA information service (OIS/DHL) for dispatch within one to two business days, using the delivery option you have selected when the appointment was made.

** You will then be notified by email and text message when your passport is ready for delivery or pickup.

In your present scenario:

2. Your 221g or IW requires you to appear physically for some questionnaire, which is an hopeful situation, but if you insist on having your passport back, then, the embassy would not have a choice, than to engage their policy as described in sense -1 above, and have your passport returned.

PS: If you are a wanted criminal , or your name match that of a wanted person, or you have impersonated the US government or official etc, in your current VISA application, then, the USA embassy will not return your passport.

I was so sure that I was coming to share a testimony here o!

Alas..... I received an email from the embassy asking me to come in for an interview with a copy of that email and a government issued ID.

How did i get here? I sent an email to Lagos NIV that they should return my passport, it's been so long and I have commitments. Now they replied that I should come in for an interview.

This doesn't change the fact that I need my passport back, we will attend to this interview at a later date (Dec 1st). They've not answered me!

QUESTION: Please did this happen to anyone before? Did they release your passport?

Dear Writer,

Please follow these steps.

1. Fill out a DS-160 form, taking note of your application reference number.

2. Go to the AVITS website and register as a new user. you should receive an email from them within 2 days with your login details.

3. Using the details sent to you via email, create an account with AVITS.

4. On your profile, start an application, answering all the questions including the questions that would ask if your last application was a rejection and if you have been to the USA before.

5. Your answer to step #4 will determine if you would be invited for an interview or you will drop off your passport.

6. You would be required to pay your visa fees which can be via card or cash. Note that you would need a USD denominated card for this or follow the link and pay online through First Bank Plc.

7. Should you pay via First Bank, you would need to wait for 24hrs for your payment to be recognized, relogin and conclude your pending application. Note: Card payments are instant, and you can conclude the process in 1 sitting.

8. Should your application be successful, your passport will be dropped off at the embassy.

9. Create a profile with OIS to track your passport and schedule a pickup using the OIS platform. From the 5th of October, a pickup fee will be charged.

Hello Everyone,

I have an update.

1. Thank you to everyone who takes out time to respond to inquiries in this group. I have found it very useful and used your experiences as a guide. Thanks alot!

2. I have been able to book an appointment FINALLY!!! I raised a ticket with my complaint, and it was resolved within 3 days. I attached my First bank receipt and the invoice from AVITS.

3. By the time I logged in, my application was moved forward, I did not need to input my payment details any longer.

4. I choose Lagos and there was a date available for December 5th, which I chose.

5. If you have having issues with going beyond the payment verification point, please raise a ticket and hope that it is picked and reviewed. remember to attach the evidence as stated in #2.

Pls help me oo. Today make it One week i made payment for B1/b2 visa fees at First bank in which I generate the bank slip from Avits. Now I cannot book appointments have call the customer service they said I should create ticket and send my payment confirmation and bank slip to dem . Nothing is done ooo. Still now I cannot book appointments. If I click on pending appointment request it shows bank slip generate.
Please what can I do to schedule my appointment. Thanks my Ago

I have this exact problem too... It's been 2 weeks since I paid and also raised a ticket. No response till now..... I have tried to use a USD card, its been failing! I hope we find a solution soon....

Your dom card for which bank please? I have tried 2 foreign and 2 local USD cards and it keeps failing.

It's so sad because I may have to forfeit the money paid to First Bank since i am not able to proceed beyond verifying the payment.

1. Go and fill your VISA application form (DS-160) first.

2. Then visit AVITS to sign up and make payment. Always remember to download, screenshot or note down payment reference pls.

3. Once your payment is confirmed on AVITS, then , initiate the booking of your appointment. If you are having issues or delay in booking appointment on AVITS, abandon the process (ONLY IW - Interview Waiver/Visa Renewal Applicant) and proceed to OIS in order to book an appointment for your Drop- off/ Pick up.

4. After successful scheduling on OIS, print out your drop - off date , print it out and you are free to visit on your appointment day.
OIS is the most important to IW applicants, and OIS appointment scheduled is what IW applicants will use to drop off their renewal application. You must, however go along with evidence of your VISA fee payment on AVITS.

I am stuck step #3. i have made payment in First bank and my payment reference successfully verified on AVITS. I am not able to go beyond that point. the system returns me to generate a new invoice everytime. This has been going on for weeks, I have open a complaint ticket, still no luck!

How long does it take for the payment to reflect on your dashboard for the new site? I made the payment just a few minutes ago however I can't schedule an appointment and I have an event for October 4th, this is my second MRV payment. The first was in March and then the second is just now.

While others have migrated their data to the new site, can I get a refund for the one I made in March?

Also how long does it take for the second 1 to reflect?
My first MRV payment was 350k, its too painful

I paid with a credit card (MasterCard) on the new Avits system. After the payment went through (took about 1 min), I selected my interview location and selected a date which got approved. It then showed I had 3 reschedule attempts, so I used them to periodically get closer dates till my last attempt was used on the October 2024 date.

The thing is I have already submitted to Lagos and do not know if I pick abuja for the interview that would be a problem. My friend's husband just paid and has already booked November in Abuja while I am still looking for even Jan 2025 in Lagos. When I reached out to customer care I was told that my visa fee was not transferrable, guess i will just wait since i am not in a hurry.

When you collect you passport, you should see instructions to book in person interview.

And yes they can request physical interview even when you qualify for interview waiver

I'm surprised there aren't earlier Lagos interview dates. Two days ago I got an end of October 2024 date for Abuja and there were several November 2024 dates available. If you're in a hurry why not use the Abuja embassy instead?

How did you both get to this stage? I’ve been stuck at uploading evidence of payment and it’s been a circle from that point. I keep getting thrown back to generate a new receipt. Did you need to do anything extra?

Good afternoon.
This is to provide an update on my experience with the new portal - AVITS.
I paid online with First Bank and I was issued a receipt. The receipt carries a reference number but that is not the information that the AVITS platform recognizes. Please use the Aventum number, thats what is required under the category of reference number

Answer: I have experienced this same issue. My drop off date was moved from September 29th to July 11th. I didn't get an email. I just checked due to conversations I overheard at work. Alas, my dropbox appointment had been schedules.
From recent experiences, the wait time has been 6-8weeks to retrieve one's passport after submission. Be sure that you would not be needing your passport during the period its at the consulate. I called the customer helpline this afternoon to ask if I can get the initial date back, the lady quoted a line from terms and conditions which states that the consulate reserves the right to reschedule appointments without recourse to the applicant, blah blah blah... She went on to say I would not need to pay the fees again instead; I should wait 3 business days after my missed drop off date after which my MRV receipt would be reactivated. Any dropbox appointment booking after August 16th would be on a new scheduling platform, etc.

Any chance someone here has had a VBAC in USA? Can you please recommend a doctor for this? I am planing to go to Texas since I know it’s the cheapeast place in USA.

" you want to be careful not to have hiccups with visa renewals after this birth experience. I'll advise that you read from previous experiences the concerns around these hospitals you have mentioned. My advise to you will be to find a hospital outside texas state all together. Also, read from volume 3, around 2017 / 2018 when having a baby in US was a rave.
