There is something revealing in Peter Obi’s old threat to sue over the leaked Oyedepo conversation. He publicly denied the “Yes Daddy” audio, called it fake, and threatened legal action. That part is on record. But years later, the political memory remains more alive than the lawsuit itself. And that raises a fair question: was the threat about justice, or was it about leading on an already excitable support base? Obi said he would sue. Fine. Nigerians are entitled to ask: what came of it?

More interestingly, one should ask: did Bishop Oyedepo himself ever publicly come out to say the conversation never happened? I have not seen a clear public denial from him in the material available. That matters because once the principal figure in the audio does not loudly reject it, the burden shifts back to the politician who made the loud legal threat.

This is what makes the whole episode look less like resolve and more like theatre.

And then there is the Obidient factor. The movement thrives on outrage, thrives on emotional mobilisation, and thrives on a permanent siege mentality. It behaves like an online street-thug culture in fine grammar: always ready for battle, always eager to attack, always convinced that aggression is proof of truth. That is why every controversy around Obi becomes a crusade instead of a sober test of evidence.

As for Obi himself, his real problem is that too often he talks first, threatens next, and leaves the facts panting behind him.

A man cannot keep putting his foot in his mouth and then blame critics for noticing the limp.

If you’re a Christian we would know as Christ or Lord said. But most of your hide under the name Christian to validate your hateful soul.
