olayinkajnr:They need Nairaland manual ![]() |
olayinkajnr:Abeg ask am oh... Me don tire ![]() |
Djdannyb4u:Abeg help me tell am oh ![]() The X5 is likely the better option, if u have read my earlier counter review in page 54 you will understand what I mean. Currently the X6 is mostly unstable in terms of performance and has several bugs which I hope they fix in future update. As for the storage issue, you can either pick the X5 with 4GB Ram and 64GB storage or just get a 64mcard, like I did. Finally the hybrid slot that can't use two Sims and Mcard simultaneously, the only solution I found for this is to get a hybrid SIM adaptor, I ordered one on AliExpress for as cheap as #350 naira . What it does is quite simple, it adds an extra external slot to your phone which houses ur second sim card while your 1st SIM and Mcard occupies the main internal slot of your phone.

Mizik:From an app called Backdrops
|
Mizik:Well am just happy I got the X5 instead, don't want to chance it with the X6 ![]() |
Troublemaker101:Lol... Nah small kind pain ![]() |
mahkanjuh:All of u that will just be commenting and quoting people anyhow without even reading. When did I say anything abt a P20 processor? Is it that my name resembles that of Troublemaker101 : ![]() |
Mizik:I already explained to him in a friendly manner that he was quoting the wrong person... But he is still at it. And it's now getting annoying. |
SaucyBenks:Bros even after I told u that u r quoting the wrong person u still don't want to use ur head, am guessing u r still slightly high, so let me help u understand ur error. First of all, I am not the person that was bashing the X5, it's the guy whose moniker is Troublemaker101. Troublemaker101:He is the one that made the comment above... Not me so if u r going to shoot a gun at least aim at the right person and stop annoying me with ur misquotes. Why is it so hard for u to understand that u r quoting the wrong person.. or do u need Nairaland manual ![]() |
Mizik:The Nokia X6 really didn't live up to expectations, and to imagine I was contemplating buying it rather than the X5... ThankGod for my low budget at the time ![]() |
krozay:Guy u should have created a thread to let us know of that Bo Cheng store nah, u won't believe how long I have been looking for an original mcard that is big enough and affordable... Since yours still works up until now then the more reason to patronise them some more. I'll probably go for the 128gb next. On paper that Umidigi F1 is a beast... I just hope it performs like a beast in reality cause am very impressed with the specs. But I still think the Nokia X5 is faster than the X6 from my observation, should be able to compete with the Umidigi F1 as both still use the same Helio P60 processor. |
kaykaymcb:Thanks man but who will give me the cold bear nah ![]() |
SaucyBenks:Bros am sorry to ask this even tho it's Easter Sunday but... Did u maybe smoke small ganja this morning ![]() Did u even read what I wrote before quoting me out of context. Let me just believe u made a mistake and quoted me rather than ur intended target. As u can see below, I also own an X5 and am luving it
|
olayinkajnr:Exactly why I just had to say something, I was gonna ignore the comment but it felt like I had been slapped, and worse is the fact that he doesn't even use the phone to know of it's performance and has probably never seen the real thing to appreciate its beauty. |
Troublemaker101:I was going to walk away after reading ur comment but there is something u said that really, really pisses me off. Man, I've really thought about these phonesAm not sure what u r basing ur comment on but if I had the option of rebuying a phone, it would still be the Nokia X5. Why? Battery: contrary to what u stated above, the Nokia X5's battery is the most optimized battery usage in all the phones I have ever used (Samsung Galaxy S4, S5, S6 Edge and Galaxy J6 plus), I have never used a Xiaomi, Tecno or an Infinix phone but a few people I know do and from their observed usage, i can tell u I haven't met anyone whose phones battery seems better optimized than the X5. Let me explain, let's say I charge my phone to 100% and just want to watch movies all day, it takes approximately 1hr 15mins for my battery to drop to 99% and I can watch movies all day from 8am to 7pm and I'll still have around 60% battery left, mind u both WiFi and data are turned off. .On a normal days usage of surfing the net, chatting and moderate gaming on the go, I still end up with between 30% to 50% juice left by the time I get home around 8pm, to be honest, my X5 has never seen 30% battery since I got it two months ago. Like I said, never have I used a phone with such well optimized battery. Processor: I think this is where the X5 makes a home run. The X5 is easily the fastest phone I have used and I can proudly say my X5 has never hanged or temporarily slowed down on me, not even once. It can handle pretty much everything you throw at it and still have room to spare. Opening, closing and multitasking between apps has never been this fast for me, now I am starting to believe Samsung might have lost a loyal customer in me, not even the Galaxy S10 interests me anymore ![]() Design: Another home run for the X5. The phones design is simply a thing of beauty, it's so nicely designed that it's always pulling in admirers when ever I pull it out to use in public. Even though I think the notch could have been just a little smaller, it still gives the phone an aesthetic appeal that resembles that of an iPhone, especially when using apps with full white backgrounds, like Instagram and reading in your browser, it never fails to appeal to onlookers. So far 3 people I know have gotten this phone just from seeing it once in my hands and 2 others are planning on buying it as soon as it gets restocked. The only issue is that the phone looks so good that after trying on a pouch and screen guard and seeing how ugly it was in comparison to the phones design, I dumped both and have been using the phone like that... Yeah as u can guess, some bitch I gave the phone to admire let it slip off her hand and cracked my outer screen slightly. Well I'll have to order a replacement from AliExpress, and it's quite cheap. Network Support: Although I initially had my reservations about buying a phone that seemed to support fewer LTE bands than it should, I still went ahead with getting this phone because the pros seemed to outweigh the cons, and I am so glad I did, so far it supports every networks 4G I had hoped it did, with exception to Glo's 4G, mine supports Airtel 4G, Etisalat 4G, Ntel 4G and surprisingly MTN 4G also works. I have no issue with it not supporting Glo's 4G as even the Glo's H+ speed is good enough to not be crazy about its 4G, in my area that is. So unless u r strictly on Glo's bandwagon, then don't make this a factor for not getting the phone. Speaker & Charging: The phones speaker is surprisingly louder than I had anticipated, louder than all my previous phones. It's surprising because it only has one speaker outlet and yet it's quite loud, which is quite a bonus. Although the X5 does not support fast charging on paper, it does charge fast enough for me, I usually get my phone fully charged in less than an hour, mind u it's never flat, maybe from 33% to 100% in under an hour. So that's a plus. Affordability: Getting a phone with this good a spec and aesthetic design that can make an onlooker drool over your phone at such a cheap cost is pretty much a dream come true. It never fails to impress me when someone asks me what phone am using and i say Nokia, Lol... u need to see the suprise and sometimes shock that appears on their faces. Samsung would charge u a 100+ for that, and this is coming from a Samsung loyalist. Enough said. Issue: The only issue I can honestly point out that pisses me off on a regular basis is Android PIE, it has a fu*ked up ram management optimization, I can't even leave my apps running in the background without pie dropping the axe on them, it even kills 3rd party download managers downloading in the background once u leave it and some other app all running and go do something like say check you instagram.. Pie fu*ks u over To sum it all up, if I had to rebuy a phone... You can bet it would still be the Nokia X5. So saying the phone is not worth it when u neither own or use one is an insult to others using it, I personally find that to be quite insulting as I believe the phone is worth more than I got it for. |
After searching all over Jumia, Konga and OLX for an affordable original 64gb mcard for my X5 to no avail. I finally came across one on AliExpress and after going through the customer review, I just had to order one for myself asap. It's probably the best seller review I have come across on AliExpress. So guys if u are in search of an mcard to expand your storage and have the patience (which I don't) to wait for 12days to receive it... Go order urs
|
sirvvy:Nvm... just noticed u have resolved it. |
Prechy2836:On mine it's around an 1hr 20-30mins provided 4G is off and the phone is not being used. |
ARIINI:Lol... ![]() |
PhenomenalMorgan:Am starting to love them again. My next phone would probably be another Nokia phone if they continue with this trend of beauty, performance and affordability. |
KillerFrost:Bought it last week Friday. I will get a case and a better screen guard by next week, one that has the curves of the screen. |
SaucyBenks:You have to go to their site and confirm if they have coverage in your area. Just click on coverage on their websites navigation menu. After confirming that they do, click on SIM registration centers and look for Ur location there, pick the outlet closest to Ur house and go get it there. |
Mizik:Since am crazy about wallpapers I use three of the best static wallpaper apps out there. 1.) Walli 2.) Wallhub 3.) Backdrops I think the wallpaper u saw came from Backdrops.
|
SaucyBenks:So the bastards say but they tend to throttle me when I download up to 10gb in one night. But some nights I can download as much as 20GB before I notice the decline in speed as a result of throttling. But before it was truly unlimited, I downloaded GTA5 of about 40GB in one go and that took approximately 3hrs. |
Prechy2836:Will give it a try. |
ARIINI: ARIINI:As unethical as this might sound I just buy Airtel 4G sims and get the 4gb that comes with it, when I want to do a heavy download I do the Airtel midnight plan of 500mb for 25 naira on multiple sims (I have about 17 Sims) and do my downloads. Other times I do the NTEL 500 naira unlimited midnight plan for 2days and do all my downloads. On a side note: I have come to realise that one would die quicker from lack of sleep than one would from lack of food. ![]() |
henry007:Lol let me not laugh at you in French, I am a Computer Science student and my PC and Phone are my lifeline, but like I said... I was in school, had an exam and was too busy with school related stuff to really make use of the phone, I only pointed out today's usage as a reference not that it was my normal phone usage. I literally code on my phone when am away from my system, run servers and play graphic intensive games on my normal phone usage. Right now am even conflicted, I have never used an unrooted phone before so most of my advance apps and customization can't be used on this phone yet, and that's an issue for me because if I do root it I won't be able to enjoy the benefits of Android One, which is prompt software updates. Once (back in 2014) I used my Samsung Galaxy S4 so much that from time to time I would have to put it in the fridge, it would get so hot that touching it to ur cheek would likely burn u. this mostly happens when am running an Apache web server and debugging/coding on it. Eventually the phones board died of over heating and the technician told me the soder paste on the board had gotten exhausted because of overheating and was asking me what I did to use up the soder paste on my board since the phone was not faulty with overheating. So as u can see, I am probably more of an abnormal phone user than u phone pressers out there. |
And lastly for those contemplating on whether to get this phone or something else, the best thing you can do for urself is to get this phone, i can assure you that you won't be able to get another phone that can combine beauty, performance and affordability in one package. I literally keep getting stopped by strangers and friends to ask me what phone this is when ever am using it in public. One time a guy in my street walked upto me to ask if he could examine my phone, that my neighbor told him about the phone and that he had ordered the Tecno Camon 11 pro. After examining the Nokia X5 he asked me a few questions and after answering he went home and cancelled his order and ordered the X5. Now he is always smiling at me and telling people I saved him from making a big mistake. As if that is not enough, my course mate borrowed my phone to play PES 2019 and PUBG in school and while he was at it, the queen bee in my department noticed the phone in his hands and was all over him because of it, the guy started lying and telling her I bought it for 90k and what not, and now everytime she sees me she wants to take selfies and play music with it, one would think she was phoneless by the way she keeps pestering me for my phone. Note: You can completely get away with telling people this phone costs 150k, I swear the phone looks more expensive than even the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge I previously owned. I don't use screen guard or case yet, that's why the phone gets so much attention and admiration. I did buy a screen guard for it earlier but it was so ugly and stole the phones beauty that I had to dump it, plus it didn't align properly with the notch and ended up covering some part of the notch screen. |
For those complaining about bugs, its true that when I got my X5 I was almost tempted to return it because I immediately noticed a lot of bugs. 1. When I attempted to change my wallpaper the "set" picture as wallpaper button becomes inactive, I would click on it multiple times and no action would take place. 2. When I install a game and move the obb file from my system into the phones obb folder, it would show up when viewed from my pc but would not show up in the phones file manager but would occupy that space in the phone's storage, and the game would not see the file. 3. The phone was always getting warm while doing minor tasks like simply playing music or just operating the phone. I was contemplating returning it but held off on it and decided to try out something, so what I did was immediately run the Android Pie update, after which the wallpaper and hotness bug was mostly resolved but not the hidden files bug, so I did a factory reset and that put the lid on all the bugs, the phone was as good as new. So far I have not encountered any other bug and the phone doesn't even get warm while on 4G and music together, it only gets warm on HD gaming with 4G. And lastly the battery. Well let me phrase it as this. In all my life i have never used a phone with such an optimized battery life, the battery is so good I no longer carry charger along with me when going for classes. I just know I have no worries with this bae of a phone. Today for instance, I unplugged this phone from charger at around 9AM and went for classes, during the course of the day my 4G was on 70% of the time, music was played 90% of the day and I watched a movie for like an hour plus a little internet surfing and WhatsApp/Facebook chatting. Right now it's a little past 9PM and my battery is currently @ 67%. Can u believe that. What else could I ask for from this bae of a phone?
