A confidential correspondence from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) dated 12 December 2025 has confirmed the approval of a Special Presidential Promotion and Retention involving a senior military officer attached to the Presidency.
According to the document addressed to the Chief of Army Staff, the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, approved the special promotion of Colonel Nurudeen Alowonle Yusuf (N/11903) to the rank of Brigadier General. The approval also covers his retention as Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the Commander-in-Chief, with effect from 12 December 2025.
The approval was conveyed through the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and referenced an earlier correspondence dated 11 December 2025. The letter further directed the Nigerian Army to take all necessary administrative actions to give effect to the decision.
Enclosures attached to the correspondence include a photocopy of the referenced approval, with copies forwarded to the Ministry of Defence (HMOD) and the Office of the ADC to the President for record and implementation purposes. This development highlights the President’s constitutional prerogative to grant special promotions and retain key security aides in the interest of national security and continuity within the Presidency.

A whole Brigadier General, in full uniform, doing this in public. If this is the kind of leadership we have at the top, what message are we sending to the younger soldiers. it’s a disgrace to the Nigerian Army. A Brigadier General. If rank doesn’t come with discipline, then what exactly are we promoting. Is this a Brigadier General or a street hustler in uniform? If he's not begging for money, then what exactly is going on here. This picture is painful to look at the Nigerian Army needs to explain this one.

What a pity our dear nation in shambles, I went through a lot of comments and observations from a lot of people but I don't think we really know what is happening. Boko haram should have been a thing of the past but when a mere chief of staff has taken over the affairs of our nation Nigeria, it never happened when a mere chief of staff summons service chiefs for meetings at his own peril. The life of our soldiers has turn to that of an animal in the eyes of this nuisance they don't value a single life and it makes us think and wonder is this country worth any sacrifice of any body when soldiers are planning attack a sitrep would be sent across to boko haram that soldiers are planning an attack thereafter you see boko haram laying ambush for soldiers how are we supposed to move forward in this country. To me the day all those idiots vacate that Aso rock and all this useless chiefs are sent to a nice cooler and we bring in fresh new element who believe they have something to offer us believe you me boko haram would be a thing of the past under 24 hours they would be fished out from all their hiding places. Thank you
