whatsapp is still under continous development and integration, it just one of the freest service by d social media giant facebook, Inc. Maybe it will oneday be fully monetized like fb messenger, but for now, it is used as a black-test platform by fb to test features b4 there are implementd on the main fb messenger and as much as i knw about whatsapp and software engineering, whatsapp is free... Free asin free tea and even open source.
