Akby: The senate meeting yesterday was not rounded up... As some issues were raised. UI can't admit more than 3,500 so they're looking for ways to satisfy this ish. Mind u DE candidates are there too. During ours, 40,000 applied and 2,654 was admitted (jambites) this time around, about 55,000 applied and UI is looking between the range of 3,000 - 3,500 students. So the cut-off is the main determinant for this to happen. The Non-academic staff that are meant to oversee the affairs of admission are going on strike tomorrow. If the cut-off is not finalized today then I guess it would be till further notice.
On a candid view, UI is not even in a hurry to admit. Yeah because what's the point admitting and waiting for another 3months before resumption. They wanna tame it in such a way that ur admission and our rounding up on the semester is not far from each other.
Would update as it unfolds
this figure you're quoting here are you referring to the number that applied through Jamb or people that applied for the just concluded post UME.

folagbade23: negative marking, the number of questions u missed will be removed from you total score again... E.g if someone scores 75, that means he missed 25 questions, so his final score will 75-25= 50
what will happen to people that got 50. Does that mean automatic 0. Impossible!!!!

Na wa oo. The way you people talk about this man know man money issue about our unique school is so outrageous. Pls stop making uniport to look like a school that doesn't give admission on merit basis. Any body that did very well will be given admission. Believe in God and trust no man. Scammers are everywhere so beware of people you are asking for help. Just believe in God. A word is enough...

laryom1: Following threats by
the Academic Staff
Union of
Universities(ASUU), on
institutions who went ahead
to conduct their post Utme
screening for admissions into
programmes offered for the
2013/2014 despite the
ongoing strike action by the
Union, VNTI has gathered that
these Universities including
the University of Nigeria
(UNN), Nnamdi Azikiwe
University(UNIZIK),
University of Ilorin
(UNILORIN), University Of
Benin(UNIBEN), and many
others might be forced to
conduct another post utme
screening for her applicants.
According to our reports, the
Academic Staff Union of
Universities (ASUU) has
warned that successful
candidates at the various
2013 post-UTME
examinations to government
owned Universities may not
be recognised if offered
admission from the same
screening exercise.
This was made clear in Minna
on Wednesday, when the
ASUU Chairman, FUTMINNA
chapter, Dr. Abdulfatai Jimoh,
emphasized that none of her
members would be involved in
the conduct the post-UTME
for over 3000 candidates
slated for Friday and
Saturday in the institution.
According to information
gathered by the VNTI News
Team, Jimoh insisted that,
“any student admitted
through the on-going Post-
UTME is on his or her own
because we would not
recognise or teach such
student., “if the management
goes ahead to conduct the
post-UTME Screening, none
of the lecturers who are
members of ASUU would not
participate in the exercise
and the students if admitted
would not be
recognized by the lecturers.”
The Fate of these students
now lies on the decision of
the Institution and their
ASUU Counterparts
Story!!! ASUU no get power for that side oo. Na NUC. Unless they will go on another strike again to protest this one too. ASUU can ground academic activities in school but they can't bring a University to a total halt. There are other unions in University if they don't know.

AdExLaWyEr: President Goodluck Jonathan has directed the Federal Ministry of Education to commence full implementation of the demands made by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in order to resolve the indefinite strike embarked upon by the union.
Jonathan gave the directive while on a state visit to Nasarawa State, to commission the ultra-modern TA’AL Model Primary School, constructed by the Governor Tanko Al-Makura administration to provide qualitative, competitive andfree education for the less privileged.
Represented by Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo, the president, who was not categorical with figures, said billions of naira have been approved and Education Minister, Ruquayyatu Rufai, has been directed to commence implementation as soon as possible.
The president also disclosed that Nigeria has the highest number of out-of-school children in Africa, with a staggering 9.5 million children without access to basic education. While pledging the continued support of the Federal Government to Nasarawa State through the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Jonathan also promised to provide free textbooks and science laboratory equipment to TA’AL model school and no fewer than 30 others, which are to be constructed in all the local government areas ofthe state.
Governor Al-Makura, however, observed with delight that, “This is the first time in many years that the president of our great nation would commission any project in the state.”
Al-Makura lamented that “despitethe fundamental importance of education to the development of our society and its influence on our way of life, we lost our bearing on education a long time ago," adding that “there is no doubt that over the years, we have allowed mediocrity to invade the quality of our public schools.
“It is in this direction that we, as a government, in our quest to enhance social justice, have established this model school, not only for the elite but for all citizens of the state, including the rural population.”

Guy don't mind them just go your school jare. It's the end that justifies the means. You cannot beat your chest over a school you are yet to enter it's when you pass through the system and graduate well that one can now come and access the school well.
folagbade23: these are the kinda arguments i hate to have in my life... Arguing that UI is better than OAU and all sorts of. I happen to be a 200level student of OAU. When i was about entering OAU in 2011 i was one of those that always criticize OAU for their things but i later realized why OAU always do what they do. OAU's post utme model is just strightforward, most candidate will score low marks in the UTME and the will come and score 270 and above in the post utme, then they will start complaining that they had high scores in the post utme but they were not admitted, wont ur utme score bring u down??

UI has her own model of inviting candidates and that does not in anyway make them better than other federal schools. As for OAU both 1st nd 2nd choice candidates are given admission, i have a friend who chose OAU as second choice and he was admitted, infact his name came out with the merit list for english language. UI also admits first and second choice candidates too but in a different format, so their different model of admission does not make them better than each other.

Also talking about competitions, UI has won so many competitions where OAU was no where to be found, also OAU has won so many competitions that UI was no where to be found. And FUTA/ other unis have won competitions that both UI and OAU were no where to be found. I cant count the number of engineering and law competitions nd more that OAU has won. They cant both be winning the same competitions are the same time.

There are some areas of lapses in OAU and UI also has her own. So lets just see some of these things and stop arguing.

As for someone who was comparing Babcock college of medicine with that of UI... God sees you ooo

All the argument again. Let me clearify some issues here especially in medical schools.
1. If the school is not yet accredited the people studying there are really gambling big time
2. Teaching hospital is a part and parcel of the medical school. But that's not what primarily determines the admission quota. It is mainly determined by the strength and capacity of the faculty ofbasic medical sciences cos iit's the bedrock of medicine or likewise the foundation of it. Example. .. are the anatomy, histology, physiology, biochemistry or pharmacology labs etc well equipped. Are the human cadavers sufficient enough for practicals. Are there enough microscopes and so on. There are schools with big and well equipped teaching hospitals but have low admission quota or worse still not accredited because of insufficient basic medical sciences facilities.
3. Going to babcock, ui, unilag, oau, unn, uniport, uniben, unilorin or any other medical schools doesn't make one a better doctor. It's your zeal, passion, hard work, determination and commitment that is the key. Cos these schools can waff you if they deem you mentally unfit to be in their medical schools.

Advice for those making payment especially in other bank branches across the country
1. When you go to the bank do not go to where they are making bulk payment. Better go to the counter because those bulk teller people will just collect your teller only to enter your details when you must have already left the bank.
2. Make sure that you strictly adhere to the format of REG NO/NAME and duly confirm that the officer in charge of collecting your payment has entered your details correctly and posted it well.
Cos the payment officer in firstbank ui branch said that any mistake in that format will result in loss of your money and you will not obtain any pin cos the info will not tally or be correct
WORST STILL!!! your money will not be refunded back to you.
Just be careful this is a delicate period and we have 6days till registration closes. God bless you all!!!

Ok let her go to ui and complain na. It's just like someone who payed in money into someone's account and later discovered that he made mistake only to go and tell the person that he paid money into his account to rectify his mistake. The person be bank wey make mistake? Let her waste money and come to ui. They will still send her back to her branch where she made that mistake to rectify it. She can only come to ui if she has already gotten her pin. But if she has not gotten her pin and she's having problems ui can't solve it for her it's her bank that can solve that problem. Na only six days to go oo. I will not pray for someone to loose an admission just because of ignorane.
EducationRe: University Of Ibadan 2013/2014 Admission by davidiee(m):
Trendytessy: I stay in Port harcourt
See my dear for your case, two things are involved. 1. You better travel to UI. 2. OR you close your eye and pay another 2k into ui account since you have not retrieved your pin yet. It would be assumed you ignored the first payment since and as a matter of fact your reg no may be entered incorrectly by the bank people. So go back to that branch pay in another 2000 but tell the banker to make sure he fill in your info correctly and post it. Then go with the new teller no. And get your pin. That's my advice for you cos if you travel to ui the protocol you'll follow it will even be better you pay another 2000 again. Since you have not retrieved your pin it will just be like mistake payment. You can call me on 08103291167 to explain more. Note am not admission officer but am just telling you based on experience.
