Embryology : BRS Embryology

Physiology : NMS Physiology plus/minus Fox Physiology

Biochemistry : MN Charteajea Textbook of Medical Biochemistry

The books I recommend to medical students are often looked down upon. They are indeed risk adventures. Most medical students I recommend books to end up not using them. Why? Because they're not the usual books. Medical students are used to the books generations ahead of them used and prefer spending long grueling hours on huge endless textbooks. To some of them, that's the drill.

But one girl attempted to use of of the books I recommended in her Pathology exam. Her classmates were studying Almighty Robbins and Cortran Pathologic Basis of Disease. I told her not to use it. My reason: the book was too detailed and time wasting. I offered her a trio of Pathology Secrets+Pathguy.com+Some lecture notes I emailed her. The results was out last week- she topped the class with a distinction mark. They still think she's a genius.

Happy weekend.
Please Doc. Can u mail these medical books to my Email daveojiyi@yahoo.com I will be eternally grateful

To every member of this thread; I'm a newly admitted aspirant of ABU. But was not giving the course I applied for (MBBS), instead was giving Biological Science which I've never dream about. I wish to change to MBBS, but I'm told its impossible even with a higher GP. My question now is that;
what are the likely courses I can opt for if I should make a high GP?
secondly, between these courses ( Biological Science, human Physiology, and micro biology) which one will you preferred most interm of job opportunity, and their other advantageshuh?
Please I really need your opinions on this.
I prefer MCB but still keep tabs on your dreams of becoming a doctor

a good student is a good student, as a good student you must be able to adapt to the environment and keep focus, the distractions in uniport are many - church/fellowships, pretty gals, fine bobos with cars, weekend parties/clubbing, cultism, fake lifestyles.

you have to know yourself and strike a balance, most lecturers do not have your time to be sadists but some students who are average and below go all out to buy grades from the bad lecturers via sex or money.

Some lecturers can be good and bad at the same time but a few are quite notorious, some departments too are terrible.
You also failed to mention state cultural meetings. I really missed those days of Anambra meetings oo. it was fun.

Thewhizzkid1: Nursing is a good course but don't compare nurses with doctors....They are not mates....If u want to be a nurse, then be a nurse.. Most, if not all nurses always behave like this...Trying to prove they are equal to or even better of than doctors...RUBBISH...
my brother you are very right. Doctors and Nurses are not the same. When I was lecturing in school of nursing I tried so many times to get that into their head but they always disagree. The male nurses seem to understand but the female nurses are mostly in disagreement. From that I deduced something. Since MBBS is a predominantly male profession and nursing A predominantly female professional so this disagreement likened to battle of the sexes only that the healthcare sector is their new theatre of war. To me it doesn't show professionalism

FOLARORI: My bosses in the house , i've been finally given course today ooo , but it's a course i loathe soo much ... aquaculture and fisheries ... I'm very sad and depressed nw for losing my beloved noble course ... But is it possible to switch to mbbs from it my bosses @ home ... huh
kai! Universities in Nigeria can fling people to just any course sha oo. Na wa oo. Anyway I don't know the terms of switching in the institution you were admitted, but from my general knowledge the requirements are very tasking ranging from getting a 4.00 CGPA to others. Still I'll advice you to pick a Jamb form as backup plan should in case the task begins to show signs of a major setback, but I know you can pull through. Just believe you can. One luv

I schooled in Enugu and will tell you that those pictures are no where near resembling Enugu.
I agree with u, looking at the landscape you'll know that this pictures are fake. Enugu has elements of hills surrounding it and is not much flooded like I see on the pictures posted.

TONYE001: Kawai! That thing been pain me that time o..but I still thank God sha.. I'm happy for you bro...for making it finally..

You know one Dr. Woyeke, Victor in Physiology (he is late now)? He did MBBS and M. Sc at a go..at one eastern university and at Uniport...and he made it!

I'm seriously trusting God for some possibilities... I shall share my testimony here too..

We may have met before.. I come around Histology Lab a lot... smiley
My brother I remember Dr Victor, may his soul rest in Peace.

TONYE001: Thanks, brother, for encouraging me.

I wish you the very best Sir. It's possible, it's achievable. Go for it, put in your very best. As I always urge students, study because you SHOULD study and not because of an event (interview, exam, etc). If we make reading a habit, success would be an everyday tale!

I had the same plan too. In my time, a CGPA of 4.0/5.0 was the requirement to switch to MBBS/Dentistry at the end of thr 100 Level, I didn't make it. I shifted to Plan B which was making a 2-1 and then transfering to MBBS/Dentistry (to begin from Year 3 if it's the same school). When we got to Year 2, Uniport had an issue with their MBBS program (overpopulation). This almost cost them their accreditation. Consequently, they shut down all transfer options to MBBS (I think they didn't accept JAMB MBBS applicants too).

I graduated with a 2-1; as God would have it, I was the 6th in a class of 140-150. Presently, I'm rounding up my Youth Service (would be done by October)...and I still have some MBBS possibilities on my table.

Again, success to you and every other person in your shoes. We shall hear your testimonies..

... smiley
my brother it was painful to us in anatomy then. We were promised switching over, but when we got to year 3 that problem surfaced, and after seriously protesting, we were not allowed to switch. So I graduated and went for service in 2011. In 2012 shortly after my service I applied for MSc in Benin, but in October my fire for MBBS ignited and I took a jamb form for 2013/2014. I scored 293 in jamb only to disappoint myself with 59 in post ume. I thanked God, smiled to myself and decided to move on. then waited for November to be among the first set of people to buy 2014/2015 jamb form, this time around I opted for Ebonyi state university Abakaliki. But in this year jamb, I scored 237 and felt I disappointed myself a bit, but I moved on and prepared for their post ume where I scored 279 and was admitted on merit to study MBBS. I wasn't filled with emotions when I saw it but I had this feeling of satisfaction that my patience payer off.

Not every person you see that works in a school environment is adequately informed. this admission process you see, even some academic staff don't have idea of the process even till the list is released.

Though this Only one choice of Degree institution may sound uncomfortable to most of us, let's also look at the positive side of it. do to the high number of Jamb applicants yearly. this will reduce much completion of admission spaces in the universities a bit. and will also eliminate the possibility of someone having two admission spaces in the name of double admission. but this only one choice can be tricky especially to the impatient ones. it's better to research the universities you intend to study very well before selecting and also monitor the stats. cos some uni's may not have competition as such this year. one Luv

So far so only 58 candidates have chosen UI, 132 UNIBEN, 56 Unilag, 192 Unijos, 53 OAU, 740 Kogi state Uni. as the selection goes these candidates cannot choose any other University as another choice. I'll keep you guys updated as registration goes on.

I will take this info with a pinch of salt until I read the official press release from Jamb registrar Mr Dibu ojerinde.

BTW, how did you register when jamb has not even fixed a specific date for the examhuh
well if you wanna take it for a pinch of salt visit jamb office cos that's where I went to buy my form direct and that's where I saw it. I've filled and preview my for but I don't wanna submit cos the exam date is not official and I I don't want to make any mistakes till I fully conduct a research on the uni I will choose this year since it's only one choice

EducationRe: 2014/2015 Utme And Admission Process by davidiee(m): 1:41pm On Nov 07, 2013
Good day aspirants. I went to jamb office to register and to my greatest shock I just discovered something. In the 2014/2015 ume , there is no provisions for 1st or second choice most, more and preferred. What we have now is 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th choice and only four degree institutions to choose. I.e degree, ND, COE and IEI. If for example you select a University as first choice you can't select a University as either second third or fourth choice. Which technically means that if a university is your first choice. Then a polytechnic will be your second choice and a college of education your third choice and another awarding institution your fourth choice. Finally this means that your choice of either university, poly, coe, and other institution is restricted to only one. So this year choose wisely I just registered. The exam date is yet to be announced but so far that's how the registration goes. If you're not clear with this info go to any jamb office and confirm for yourself

Hmm...its possible to cross to anoda department(in all skls)...u retain the same matric number...
.
But its nt possible to matric twice.....
but in uniport someone left anatomy and went to write jamb and when he got admission into medicine, the admission office refused to clear him because his name was already on the system. They told him to cancel his previous admission before they can clear him. I don't know if it works in UI
EducationRe: University Of Ibadan 2013/2014 Admission by davidiee(m): 3:24pm On Oct 20, 2013
Since you can't matriculate twice in ui can't someone write jamb during year one and when he gets admission into the desired course withdraw from the former department (I mean writing an application for withdrawal from the previous department).
EducationRe: University Of Ibadan 2013/2014 Admission by davidiee(m): 5:23pm On Oct 19, 2013
Hold on a second does that mean that you can't apply for your first admission to be canceled if you get another one and is that you can't switch from any science course except chemistry even a biological science related course huh
