Jokes Etc / How To Become A Highly Paid Stand Up Comedian by daviesao1: 5:34pm On Dec 16, 2009
Life’s Not Always Funny If You Want a Stand-Up Comedian Career

There’s a saying that clowns (People that make other laughs) are the saddest people in the world. Not because they want to be sad, but it is not an easy task to make others laugh. Most of them practice hard before they perform 5 minutes jokes. Fun and laughter doesn’t always figure in a stand-up comedian’s life. If you’re determined to have a stand-up comedian career, prepare yourself for lots of challenges ahead!

IT’S NOT EASY TO MAKE OTHER PEOPLE LAUGH
You scare people by posing a threat to them – it may be physical, emotional, or take any other form. You make other people cry by making them either sympathize or empathize with your plight. The most difficult reaction to wring out from your audience is laughter. People have different kinds of funny bones, and you need to know how to quickly and accurately identify what those funny bones represent.

MEMORIZED OR IMPROVISED
If you’re as successful as Jay Leno or Conan O’Brien, Ali Baba and other few Nigerians stand-up comedians then yes, you have the right to use cue cards. Since you’re not them you only have two choices when it comes to perfecting and delivering your material: do you want it memorized or improvised?

Memorizing dialogues is easy to do but the danger lies in delivering it as you might end up sounding mechanical. With memorized dialogues, your mind might be too caught up with recalling what you have to say that you don’t have any mind space left to consider the best way to deliver your punchline.

When it comes to improvised speeches, delivering a punchline is usually a breeze but your biggest problem is if you have enough material to last you four to ten minutes on the stage without getting booed out.

Other Tips on How to Have a Successful Stand-Up Comedian Career

Have a good sense of humor and don’t take yourself seriously. If you’re able to laugh at yourself, you’ll have in your possession the best material for your career: yourself!

Basketball players learn from the techniques used by other basketball players. Do the same and watch shows of other stand-up comedians like yourself. Learn, learn, and learn some more if you don’t want to run out of ways of making other people laugh.

Never copy or steal another stand-up comedian’s career. Don't try to be like basket mouth or anybody, be yourself. That is where lies success. Besides being grossly unethical, this can also ultimately make you lose your natural ability to make other people laugh. When you keep on relying on other people’s material, you might gradually lose your ability to create jokes by yourself due to seldom use.

Lastly, be professional in all your dealings with your manager, producer or bar owner, and your audience. Stand-up comedy is still a job after all so you need to act professional!

I will post more tips on how you can become a motivating and highly paid stand up comedians. Always come back for more.

Islam for Muslims / How Do You Recite Qur'an by daviesao1: 12:45pm On Feb 22, 2009
Manners of the Heart

A. Understanding of the origin of the words

This is an indication to the greatness of the words being read, and the bounty of Allah; Glorified is He, to His creation when He addressed His

creation with these words.

B. Putting into the heart the understanding that these are not the words of man.

Through this the reader should think about the characteristics of Allah the Exalted.

C. Presence of the heart while reading.

Through this the reader should throw away other thoughts while reading the Qur'an.

D. Pondering the meaning.

There is less reward in reciting the Qur'an without understanding the meaning. The Qur'an was revealed for guidance and this can be achieved through recitation accompanied with pondering.

E. Understanding the meaning.

This means interacting and reacting to every verse according to what is proper for it.

F. Individualization

This means that the reader feels that every message in the Qur'an is meant especially for him personally.

External Manners for reading the Qur'an

* Purity of body and clothes and place.
* Using sawak.
* Facing the Qiblah.
* Seeking refuge from rejected Satan and reading the basmalah.
* Not reading when yawning.
* Avoiding cutting off reading to talk with people.
* Stopping at a verse of warning and seeking protection with Allah, and stopping at a verse of mercy and asking The Merciful for His Bounty.
* Humbleness and crying when reading.

Imam An-Nawwawi may Allah be Merciful to him said: Crying when reading the Qur'an is a characteristic of those who know Allah (know Him through His names and Characteristics) and the feelings of the righteous.
Business / Re: Graphcard, Greatest Scammers by daviesao1: 2:41am On Jan 27, 2009
I call their phone number, then requested for their comprehensive report on dealing with Graphcard (which they do not have). We solve it by waiting for the exact date the sender plan ned for the good to get to me. Therefore the fault is not theirs, is from the sender. But they event dont know that. I later got my goods without any problem. But anyone to use them must be ready to send enough email and follow the tracking code of his goods.

I observe that there are somethings a newcomer may not understand when it comes to goods delivery. I studied that wrote a report on it and even making money from that report. Because people are getting it easier than just visiting the site.

No doubt, Graphcard is one of the best paymnet processing solutuion for Nigerians and soonest in the world.

You too can make money form teaching people on how to legally use Graphcard for transactions and money making ideas. Many people have not yet discovered this.

Just let me know if you need advanced usage of Graphcard.

Hi Olu,

Try to read between line. No one has call them thieves. I also use their service. Just to allay the fear of the complainer.

Merely "they are not thieves" solve nothing for the first timer. They need what to follow.
Bye.
Business / Re: Graphcard, Greatest Scammers by daviesao1: 12:09pm On Jan 20, 2009
Well sorry for your experience. But dont just conlude, Let me help you. it may be too earlier to call them scammers until you are able to do the following:
1. What types of goods are you expecting from your sender and from which country? There are some products the law do not permit them to handle.
2. Mail your sender to give you the tracking code and the expected time to be delivered.
3. Ask your sender if they have sent it and to what address.
4. Since the Graphcard charge you for transacting business with them, be bold to ask them if they received your products on your behalf with proof that you are the owner.
4. Ask them if you need to pay anything extra according to their policy to receive such goods.
6. Follow the Courier given to you by the sender (if any) to track the goods till arrival. (This will be on the website of the courier used by the sender, if the good is tangible).
7. Did you follow the rules and procedures of the Graphcard?

I ask you to do these because I have a personal experience also. Later I got my products. There some policies Graphcard fails to put on their website which put their customers in dilema ( I blame graphcard for that) but it is simple to settle amicably.

If you are not yet clear post your message and I will explain further. If they are real scammers at the end of all, we will both force them out of business, but for now they are trying, as I am using their service constantly.

Bye A.O.Davies Esq
