PoliticsRe: Names Gov. Rauf Aregbesola Calls His Administration Programs by Dayoagboola: 7:51pm On Dec 11, 2013
His Excellency Governor Rauf Aragbesola of Osun state is at it again, apart from changing the name of the state from Osun State to "The State of Osun" he has also decided to add an "O" prefix to all the programs and agendas set for his administration.
They have names like;
O-Farms, O-Housing, O-Tourism, O-Yes, O-Agriculture, O-rail, O-Trade, O-Schools, O-Transport.....etc
Very soon he'll have names like;
O-Women, O-Men, O-Students, O-Osogbo, O-Bags, O-Bribe, O-University ...etc.
And by the time he his done with his tenure the whole people of The state of Osun will shout....
O-NOOO!!!
Funny... But I think you're wrong though, by the time he's done, the people of the state will shout " O-dabo" means bye-bye.

euromilion: Allen,
Am seriously not happy with u rite now,I think u re taking the piss rite now.why do not wonno go finish the bad job that u did for me?
He did me wrong too but I overlooked it and hired someone else to finish the job. He's a nice guy but I don't know what he's going through at the moment. He did two jobs for me so far and underquoted himself twice and came back nicely for variation which I obliged.
@ Allen,
You know how to reach me if you need someone to talk to. You know I've tried to reach you offline without luck. Make sure you take your customers as priority and any call-backs from your customers about your previous jobs as important. Thanks.

lawyer: @brabus

I want to ask you one straight question. Are You a trained Architect, Builder or Structural Engineer with certification. If Yes then send me your Details and certificates privately Via email and i will resolve this matter once and for all. If not i will not allow you ever solicit jobs on Nairaland here as a professional ever.
Lawyer,
Now, I think we need to ask you for your job descriptions here. I think you are turning yourself to a regulatory body and not a moderator. Will you go to each college and university to verify the certificate as well?. How will you carry out this verification exercise pro bono?. How will you assess someone with successful years of experience in building with no related degree like spyder880?. Is it going to apply to everyone or just Brabus?. Remember, you told me on the phone that you're neutral in this case, that you just want justice to be done. Please maintain your neutrality. We don't want a situation where you'll become the judge, the juror and the executioner!. Please advise me accordingly.

gabbytabby: Diamond started in February, portharcourt in Apr and ileilugi in June so ileolugi might have decided to give him a chance cos at the time despite the fluke re portharcourt, the diamond estate one was going okay at the time.

It does appear that generally he starts off well but things start to go pear shaped later on. Also, there is not a lot of options (most situations end up similarly and at times family are the worst) and for some reason, if we have to be honest, the competition's english skills means people make assumptions about his ability to deliver. I hope many more give him the opportunity to prove himself. I do want him to keep to his integrity and not say yes just to get the contract. People will come to appreciate it.

Packaging gets the majority of us and we all need the wherewithal to learn how to scratch the surface to see what lies underneath.
I'm sorry but my objective mind still has so many questions that beg for answers.
From what I heard from brabus ( may not be truth), Ile-Oluji guy and brabus have done a building project together before and it didn't really work out. He was the one that introduced brabus to Diamond guy after thathuh. Brabus left there to start a new project at Ile-Oluji. What's confusing to me is why he called brabus for another project if brabus himself admitted that they had problem towards the end of the first project and he was dropped from supervising till the end?. In between that time we had the PH guy, so why did he think brabus can still do great job at Ile-Oluji?. If money management and job quotation are his problem, why didn't they just supply the materials and allow him to supervise only?. If competency is the issue as in PH, why did he hand over a gigantic mansion in Ile-Oluji to him knowing fully well that he just messed up in PH?. Honestly, I won't sleep at night if I doubt structural integrity of my house. Looking at brabus quotation above, why did the owner think 1800/sqm will complete a POP befitting of this Chateau without cutting corner or their usual way " returning to ask for variation"?. Finishing stage is an art and not science, so I don't expect everybody with science backgrounds to know how those things like tiles, chandeliers, paints etc match in the house (just my opinion and it works for me). They have done too much of dy/dx!. As a owner, I get deeply involved at finishing stage.
On the other hand, I think brabus is a greedy contractor that doesn't want any job to pass him by. Are you really a computer scientist as someone alleged?. How do you explain quoting 1800/sqm for POP job where even in Lagos where materials for POP are easily accesible, you'll hardly get it for that?. That sounds more like what someone will quote for commercial properties not a Chateau that's a beauty to behold. Why did you collect money from the man and still return to ask for the balance knowing fully well that you haven't done anything with the first payment?. That's obtaining under false pretense!...Gosh!!!...Why do you keep toying with people's hard earned money when you know you are not competent?. Like everybody says, you are very good at packaging. I give that to you. You'll be better off as a graphic designer!. You are too desperate and want to make money at all costs. Why don't you have mercy on people that make money legitimately?. Why did you accept the job or not resign when you think the first quotation was not accepted?. Do you think you can get started and expect him to cough out more money later when he has no choice?. I have encountered that trick in Nigeria several time. Brabus, if I may ask, how old are you?. Does proper money management even depend on age?. I'm just furious right now. You are a young man with a lot of potentials. Now you have messed up his plan for Dec. 15th. You can't compensate that monetarily, do you know that?.
Brabus, from my independent investigation, I found out there was a behind-the-scene move for you to settle with these guys before it got to this. Few other objective minds and I took it upon ourselves to campaign for a just cause. I got in touch with lawyer to unban you to have a fair hearing but from what I was told, you've had enough behind the scene. I wrongly thought the lawyer was becoming a dictator, an autocratic moderator by unilaterally banning you. I had a discussion with lawyer himself to unban you because I believe injustice to one is injustice to all. We will not sleep until Nigeria becomes a country of our dreams. I believe in egalitarianism. Now, I realise you are a dishonest businessman!. You are one of the reasons why some diasporan never have a roof over their heads in Nigeria. In the word of Gov. Lamido," you are Virus", a construction virus!!!.An average Nigerian mentality is to "make" it like the Chateau man not knowing what he went through before he "arrives".I implore you to come up with acceptable settlement agreements with these guys. THEY MUST GET PAID!. We will all stay behind to ensure those guys get paid. I am willing to lend support to them to ensure they get paid timely. I have been there done that!. You have to sit yourself down and think of how you'll go about the repayment. Enough of my ranting, come up with realistic payment arrangements with these guys NOW.

@ vimo3,
It appears you are one of the clients here. I empathize with you because I can only imagine what you went through.
If you care to know, I'm not Brabus, but just an objective individual that likes to know and hear from both sides. All what I campaign for is fair hearing and nothing can stop me from championing that cause. It can be your turn next time and I'll still defend your right to fair hearing like I'm doing now. I expect the lawyer to unban him and allow him to present his case as well. For verification purpose, I can mention people that I have never met in person before but have done business with here online successfully.
Gbadexy(fantastic screeding and paint guy)---- got paid, moved to site and did his thing without issue
Samla( great roofing and aluminium guy)---- got paid, moved to site and did his thing without issue.
Spyder880----- He knows my first name in the handle above because I call him regularly for advice. We have exchanged several emails over the year.
Brabus----- Just about to contract him and we've been talking before this came out.
We need Brabus to state things as it is here just like we need you to stay around and not abandon your case in the court of public opinion so that you can deny or confirm his statements. You claimed that you have evidence while brabus claims he has evidence too. You owe Nairaland a duty to prevent the 6th person from falling victim if your allegations are actually true. From what I gathered, you heard something ( good or bad) about Brabus and still went ahead to contract him for your job. I made full disclosure of what I know from my first post just because I've talked to him. If we find out that Brabus defrauded you as claimed, I'm sure there are people here that can assist you to recover the money if asked (most of them are silent readers).

NextHome: It is more important to 'walk a mile in someone's shoes' who has done wrong - that way you are better equipped to understand how and where they've made their mistakes and possibly to help them. It's called compassion and ALL of us have done wrong.

I believe it’s human nature to pre-judge people based on our perceptions – which of course are natually colored by all of the biases and internal baggage we carry around with us.

How can a man who started so well end so badly?

Possible Reasons

1. Errors in budgeting/estimating
2. Costs required beyond the scope of work
3. Tools and equipment costs exceed project allocation
4. Easily missed costly errors
5. Contractors Greed.

The Chateau project is fraught with issues and challenges right from the inception (even before we break ground).

A lot of factors were not taken into consideration and contingencies grossly overlooked causing us to blow budget.

For now, I’m not sure what I did that led my client to conclude I can’t be trusted. Can I know exactly where I went wrong?

Brabus.
You'll need to address the issues raised by your client: Tiles, borehole, windows, etc. I think those are valid questions that beg for answers. What happened, why, when and how to prevent future occurrences?. The whole house demand full explanation of what transpired. I'm sure your client has his own objections too. Asking someone that has paid millions of naira to a contractor and that felt he has been defrauded and "smoothly packaged" is not the way to go. We are patiently waiting.

gtrust: In boxing (like in construction) you have a choice:
1- knock out your opponent and claim victory (meaning: just build the house as per contract)
OR
2- Allow the 3 referees to judge who scored more points (using wrong size of blocks for foundation, buying cheap or not buying materials as agreed etc) then you start hearing: I said , she said, he said.
If you are the owner of the property, you really don't want that crap! righthuh

There are many good builders here on Nairaland who build '100% live' including expenditure, cost of labour, right down to the pure-water they bought.
This is what I am saying loud and clear and I wouldn't mention any name any more so as not to appear biased.

Regards
What crap?. Don't judge the guy yet until he states his own side of the story. Give him the chance to be heard. That's my campaign. After that, if he doesn't come out, I'll act accordingly too.

gabbytabby: Thank you for the twist. I just thought to let you know that you are beginning to sound ridiculous. Such that my advice is for you to stop while you were still ahead. You also have just registered specifically to comment on this thread. Hmmmmm ?
Thanks for your advice sir. I followed your tenancy issue when it started and I can deduce you are a law-abiding person who earns legitimate income. You took your tenants/illegal occupants through all legal routes possible. You will agree with me that it's very important to hear Brabus out in this case but banning him will prevent him from doing that. Fair hearing is just his right not a privilege. It may be your turn to be accused next time. Will you just want me to accept it at its face value?.It's still an allegation until proven. If you agree, can you join me to plead with lawyer to unban him to give him the opportunity of fair hearing. Unless, you have communicated with both of them to determine who's at fault. I talked to Brabus yesterday. I don't have a way of getting across to the other person but I think the accuser can deny or confirm his statements here.
As per new registration, yes I did specifically for this thread. When does it become an offence to register and comment same second?. Don't judge or per-empt me please. Your suspicion (hmmmmm) might just be wrong afterall.

esoorita: I'm not sure that the people pleading for Brabus to clear himself read the above post by Brabus. This post to the best of my knowledge is an admission of guilt. If a case goes to court and the accused plead guilty, the judge cannot insist on hearing the case irrespective of the fact that the accused has pleaded guilty.
He didn't plead guilty going by that statement. He mentioned "intention not to defraud". That's a big thing in courtroom and judges look at that a lot. If I'm wrong, lawyers in the house can correct me please. There's even force majeure in law. Even if he pled guilty, he can't still change his plea. I'll expect Brabus to come out here and give his own side of the story and allow public court to judge. He still has the right to be heard in this situation. He's well aware by now that his post yesterday cannot mitigate the damage as he thought. I hope he can salvage what's left of his reputation.

lawyer: @all

Brabus has been banned from Nairaland until this fraud allegation has been cleared up and the parties to this claim has given him a clean bill of health. I implore all parties to work together to clear up this mess so we move forward. Once everything has been sorted out give me the terms of settlement via mail and we call it a day.

This is also a firm warning to other architects, builders or suppliers on Nairaland property that such issues will no longer be condoned or ignored. I understand that business deals don't go we'll as planned due to certain reasons or the other but total non performance of the job after collecting money must cease to exist on this forum.

Please your advised to govern yourself accordingly
Pls unban him in the interest of fair hearing. Like you said, it's still an allegation so don't expect him to bring a clean bill from an accuser. Maybe, he'll be the one to issue clean bill of health. There are always two sides to every story and I've heard quite a bit from Brabus but until he comes here and states it clearly for the client to deny or confirm, I can't judge who's culpable.

@Hajji,
It's trite as lawyer is well aware that an accused is innocent until found guilty. Please give him adequate time to respond to the allegation or rather "adjourn" the case for several more hours.
@ Brabus,
I spoke with you on the phone yesterday for more than one hour about this issue shortly after you posted here. That was even before lawyer posted. I advised you to come out and tell the whole world what transpired in this case. It's better you do that right now for posterity sake. You mentioned some points to me which I'll expect you to bring to the attention of the whole house and since the client is also here on Nairaland, maybe we can find amicable resolution to this issue. Yoruba elders say; A gbo ejo enikan da, Agba osika ni. The time is now for you to come out and tell it as it is because it's very obvious that your client is not satisfied for him to have come out.
