Some Nigerians trying to cross to Europe through the Sahara Desert have met their untimely death as a result of starvation. Thousands of Nigerians trying to cross Europe through the Sahara Desert because of the harsh economic condition in the land have met their untimely death as a result of starvation, hunger and dehydration. According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, UN agencies have warned that the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has spread to eastern ‘no-go’ zone surrounded by rebels. The office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), warned that rebel violence in eastern DRC was escalating inside the vast country’s Ebola-hit North Kivu province, putting millions at risk. “Thousands of civilians have fled their burned-out villages, bringing reports of brutal attacks,’’ Andrej Mahecic, spokesperson for UNHCR, said in Geneva. The latest report followed reports that a case of Ebola infection and one suspected case have been found in one town in the area, Oicha, which is surrounded by armed groups. The disease has killed more than 60 people and infected dozens more in recent weeks. Forced displacement in this part of the country remains massive and it is estimated that more than a million people are displaced in North Kivu. This is the highest concentration of internally displaced people (IDPs) in the DRC, where an estimated half a million people have been forced from their homes this year alone. Macromastia is being quietly suffered by women who are unaware it could be resolved if the right medical services are sought. Violent J was sleeping one night when she began to feel pressure around her neck. She opened her eyes to the rude shock that her massive bosom was actually choking her. It’s difficult for people to believe a woman’s breast could suffocate, but some women with big breasts have this challenge. Since then, “I haven’t been able to sleep on my back” Violent J told the BBC. in an interview originally written in Pidgin English and later translated by a Tori News correspondent. Violent J who is a mother of two said she is experiencing back and shoulder pain in addition to the weight of the breasts which are weighing her down. She has decided to ease her struggle with her huge breasts through a surgical operation. “I need a surgery” she said. “After giving birth, the breast size didn’t decrease and there was no milk inside. As I am speaking to you right now, my breasts are heavy on my chest. I wish I could loose my bra for you to see but that is not appropriate. Some people have big breasts but they are light. My breasts are heavy” “My bra size is not even in the market and I have to contract fashion designers to make special bras for me” she added. She went to complain that the breasts have affected her dressing pattern as she is always conscious of the kind of clothes she puts on to prevent causing a scene in public. According to her, her bosom frequently causes a stir when she steps out with young men insulting and flirting with her. She is presently looking for money to undertake a surgical operation to reduce the size so that she could sleep well at night and ease the pressure on her body. Following the death of a man in his 40s, who was killed by a crocodile in the Indonesian state of West Papua, almost 300 crocodiles have been slaughtered in revenge killings. The nearly 300 crocodiles were killed by angry villagers, after one of their members were killed by one crocodile on a crocodile farm, when he was probably looking for grass to feed his livestock. Reuters reports that after the man was buried Saturday, villagers stormed the farm and killed all the crocodiles there. This was contained in a statement from the head of Indonesia’s Natural Resources Conservation Agency in West Papua, Basar Manullang. The farm was operating legally and had a license to breed some types of crocodiles, Manullang said, but one of the conditions was that the reptiles do not disturb the community. Most people who purchase land in Lagos and elsewhere don't really understand the meaning of these Real Estate terms. As a potential buyer wishing to buy a land or build a new house you must be conversant with a few of these figures. The first hurdle is to understand the system of Land measurement in Nigeria. In Nigeria today, Land is measured in Hectares, Acres, Meters and Feet. These measurements are affected by factors, which include development pattern, human and environmental factors. Let's start by asking what is the size of a standard plot in Nigeria? According to the dictionary meaning of a plot: A plot is a marked out piece of Land for the purpose of building or farming. The word 'plot' is an arbitrary term used to describe a land division carved out for property development. The size of a plot can vary for different reasons but according to Nigeria's land division, the appropriate plot for a house construction is 50 x 100ft which can accommodate a standard house with a small compound. To better understand land divisions used in Nigeria, different units of area are used as follows: *HECTARE* A hectare is one of the least known metric units and one which potential buyers and Estate developers seem to struggle with - It is a land measuring: 100m x 100m OR 328ft x 328ft OR 10,000 sqm OR Two and half acres OR 15 plots. *ACRE* An Acre is a standard unit of measurement used by Land sellers and it is almost equivalent to the size of a standard football field. An Acre is a product of any rectangular plot of land giving a total of: 4,046sqm OR 43,560 sq ft OR 6 plots (each measuring 60ft x 120ft) *PLOT* In Lagos State, the standard size of a plot is 60ft x 120ft (18m x 36m i.e. 648 sqm), while in some other cities of the country, plots are measured in 50ft x 100ft. *HOW TO UNDERSTAND LAND TITLE AND DOCUMENTS* -Real Estate Coach Spark shares this, though copied, but I feel we should go through it. SURVEY PLAN A Survey plan is a document that measures the boundary of a parcel of land to give an accurate measurement and description of that land. The people that handle survey issues are Surveyors and they are regulated by the office of the Surveyor general in Lagos as it relates to survey issues in Lagos. A survey plan must contain the following information: 1. The name of the owner of the land surveyed 2. The Address or description of the land surveyed 3. The size of the land surveyed 4. The drawn out portion of the land survey and mapped out on the survey plan document 5. The beacon numbers 6. The surveyor who drew up the survey plan and the date it was drawn up 7. A stamp showing the land is either free from Government acquisition or not EXCISION Land Use Decree on the 28th of March, 1978 that vested all lands in every state of the Federation under the control of the State Governors. The Land Use Act coupled with other laws made it possible for the Governor who was now the owner of all lands in the state to actually have the power to Acquire more lands compulsorily for its own public purpose to provide amenities for the greater good of the citizens. Fortunately, the government recognizes that indigenes of different sections of the country have a right to existence . . . a right to the land of their birth. Hence, it is customary for state government to cede a portion of land to the original owners (natives) of each area. An Excision means basically taking a part from a whole and that part that has been excised, will be recorded and documented in the official government gazette of that state. GAZETTE A Gazette is an Official record book where all special government details are spelt out, detailed and recorded A gazette will show the communities or villages that have been granted excision and the number of acres or hectares of land that the government has given to them. It is within those excised acres

Some Nigerian youths under the Democratic Youth Congress (DYC) have concluded plans to purchase nomination form for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid. The national chairman of DYC, Kassim Muhammed Kassim, a member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, said the group with about four million registered members, had unanimously agreed to mobilize and contribute a thousand naira each to sponsor and buy the form for the president. He said those criticizing the president’s decision to re-contest in 2019 should rather channel their grievances towards the youths for forcing the president to seek re-election. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has shifted the dates for its congresses and national convention scheduled to start next month due to the Ramadan fast. The party said the national convention earlier fixed for May 14 would now hold at a later date to be determined by the National Working Committee (NWC). Also, in the aftermath of President Muhammadu Buhari’s endorsement of former Governor Adams Oshiomhole for the national chairmanship position, the party’s NWC wednesday resisted the move by governors to interfere in the composition of committees to conduct the congresses. Addressing journalists after the meeting of the NWC and the governors of the party wednesday, the National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdulahi, said the leadership has been mandated to review the timetable to cater for certain issues that have cropped up. He said with the review, there was a possibility that the congresses and national convention may be shifted in view of the observations made by some of the governors that the timetable was too tight and made no room for errors. The APC spokeman also said some of the governors brought the issue of the Muslim fast which will come up soon. Abdulahi explained that the meeting was called to emphasise to the state governors the need to ensure that congresses were held in a very transparent manner. “We are aware that some governors have been making statements which we believe are giving the impression that we don’t intend to hold congresses in particular states. “So the meeting was to emphasise to those governors that we want congresses in a very transparent manner and to ensure that the processes are free and fair,” he said. The APC spokesman said one of the major concerns of the party at the beginning was that they should do everything possible to avoid rancour that could be generated as a result of the congresses. “It was agreed that one of the major ways of avoiding that rancour is to ensure that the congresses are transparent to the majority of the people,” he said. On the renewed interest by the governors to influence committee’s list, Abdulahi said the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, and the NWC rejected it, insisting that it is the constitutional right of the leadership to decide who would come to their states to conduct the congresses “We made it clear to them that this is a constitutional matter and the constitution of the APC imposes the power to constitute the committees on the NWC only and that by Friday this week, the list of the congress committee members will be ready. “There was also observation on the side of the governors about the timetable for the congresses and convention and the observation was that the timetable was too closely packed and that it does not leave much room for errors. “The observation was that the timetable as currently constituted was determined because of the Ramadan. We want to be sensitive to the feelings of Muslims who will be fasting during Ramadan and we wanted to, as much as possible, avoid conducting any political activity during the period of Ramadan. “There were other observations and so, there is the possibility that the timetable may be reviewed. That is not decided yet, but it was agreed that the NWC will take a second look at the timetable and see the possibility for adjustment because there are other issues,” When asked if the meeting discussed the endorsement of Oshiomhole by President Buhari, Abdulahi said: “What we were told at the meeting was that the president had a meeting with some governors and they asked to know who he wanted to support, and I think that he told them his preference. But that has nothing to do with the meeting we had today.” On whether the NWC would back Oyegun or stand with the president, he said: “I don’t think that is a fair question to ask me because you will be asking me for my personal opinion and I am not here to give you my personal opinion. “What I can tell you is that Oyegun will make his position known within the next couple of days whether he is going to contest the chairmanship or not. He said the president is a party member and has the right to have his preferences, adding that he did not tell anyone to support his choice. “The consultation he had with these governors was a private conversation. He did not address a press conference to say this is the person I want. “So, if those individuals he confided in felt it was necessary for them to make the position public, I don’t think it is fair for us to hold the president responsible for this. I don’t think he has foreclosed anything or that he has said this is the way everyone must go.” While giving further details on the outcome of the meeting, Kano State Governor, Abdulahi Ganduje, said leaders agreed that the timetable be reviewed so that congresses can hold on weekends. “We discussed the issue of the timetable and time limit for the congresses and convention, and we decided that NWC should review the timetable because, in the previous timetable, the Ward and local government congresses are too close. “We equally discover that the congresses are designed to hold on working days and normally we use public premises like schools and secretariats for the conduct of the congresses. Fixing the congresses during working days means that such places cannot be available. “We also agreed that the zoning will be maintained for the party officers but the only clause is that they should go and discuss with those governors in charge of the zones where the officers should come from. “For example, the chairman of the party will have to come from the South-south, the secretary from the Northeast and all other positions like that. We have resolved all issues amicably,” he said. Ganduje also responded to PDP’s attack on APC that Oshiomhole was imposed as chairman of the party, saying there is no such thing. He said that what President Buhari did was a private opinion, adding that no one is bound to toe his line. He said what PDP is describing as imposition is nothing but a guided democracy. “There is no imposition at all. Everybody is free to contest just as everybody is free to hold an opinion on who should lead the party. I think that there is more case of imposition because it is not a guideline and jot part of the constitution. “Just like every other person, Mr President has the right to air his opinion but that does jog mean he should stop any person who will like to contest from contesting. Mr. President’s opinion is not constitutional and it is not a non- constitutional opinion as well. “He just voiced out his thought which will serve as a guideline to some and otherwise to some. The issue of being undemocratic does not even arise. There is what we call guided democracy and we regard what Mr. President said as such. If that is what will make the party stable and avoid the fallout after the election like we saw in the PDP, it will be better for us,” he said. Unlike the usual tradition of making opening remarks, the meeting which started about 2.30p.m. and presided over by the National Chairman of the party, Oyegun began without any opening remark. Governors Rochas Okorocha (Imo), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna), Abdullahi Umar Gabduje (Kano), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Raul Aregbesola (Osun), Sani Bello (Niger), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa), Ibrahim Gaidam (Yobe), Tanko Almakura (Nasarawa), Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo) and Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara). The governors of Kwara and Katsina were represented by their deputies. Governors of Lagos, Plateau, Benue, Kogi, Adamawa, Borno, Bauchi, Sokoto and Kebbi were absent at the meeting and were not represented. More latest news at https://www.dalaxnet.com.ng/
