Technology Market / Telegram S Delete Option Which Will Kill Chat History. by Dazzygroup(m): 2:36pm On May 12, 2019
Telegram, the WhatsApp rival that gained 3 million followers when Facebook had a day-long outage this month, has come out with a significant privacy-focused update. As of the latest version of Telegram — available on iOS, Android, and via a web client — you can now delete messages for all participants in your chats, irrespective of who sent them or when they were sent. Previously, Telegram allowed users a 48-hour window in which they could delete their own sent messages, both on their device and for others. Now, the time limit has been dropped, and you can wipe an entire chat history clean on your device and on anyone else’s who was part of the chat.

While this may seem like a drastic measure, Telegram founder Pavel Durov justifies it as an act to help people take control of their digital history:

An old message you already forgot about can be taken out of context and used against you decades later. A hasty text you sent to a girlfriend in school can come haunt you in 2030 when you decide to run for mayor. We have to admit: Despite all of our progress in encryption and privacy, we have very little actual control of our data.

This will ring a familiar tone for anyone who’s heard about Hollywood director James Gunn’s firing and rehiring by Disney, owing to offensive tweets in his past, or the way that Kevin Hart tweeted himself out of hosting the Oscars. Giving people the freedom to rid themselves of past indiscretions is, according to Durov, at the heart of Telegram’s newly added ability to purge entire chat histories.

Telegram’s implementation of this new privacy measure could backfire. I tested it out and found that it doesn’t leave any notification that a chat message had ever existed before it got deleted. Thus, should I ever feel inspired to maliciousness, I could selectively prune my chat history with someone, elide essential context, and misrepresent their words. Maybe the ability to delete others’ messages is going too far, but given Telegram’s effort is to allow users to delete entire conversation threads, it seems like it was unavoidable.

On the more lighthearted side of things, Telegram has upgraded its emoji and GIF search, and it’s added new sticker sets that feature the likenesses of Vladimir Putin, Valve’s Gabe Newell, Snoop Dogg, Ryan Gosling, Borat, Bender, and Yolandi from Die Antwoord.

However, it’s important not to misuse the platform as it may result in your account getting banned or suspended. Also, remember, your WhatsApp account can be blocked or banned without you being informed or notified about it. “We may ban accounts if we believe the account activity is in violation of our Terms of Service. Per our Terms of Service, we may retain the right to ban you without notification,” as go the WhatsApp’s terms and conditions, according to GadgetsNow report.

So, here are 10 things that may lead to you getting banned from WhatsApp.

Politics / The Derailment Of Democracy In Nigeria by Dazzygroup(m): 1:21pm On May 12, 2019
Nigeria been a country full of milk and honey is gradually loosing its democratic objective. Democracy which is meant to provide the choice of the people has been captured and mortgage by those in power willing to make every position a family inheritance. Thus, making democracy to loose it's taste and value.
Nigeria who gained her independence in October 1st,1960 and because a republic in the year 1963 is gradually having roadblocks to a strong democracy in at all levels of government. Conflict—triggered by political competition and communal, ethnic, religious or resource allocation rivalries—poses a major threat to democracy. Corruption pervades the daily lives of Nigerians. Many government institutions do not adequately engage with citizens or the private sector and lack the capacity to carry out their mandates. Further, civil society lacks both the capacity and the resources to effectively engage with government and advocate for change. Civil Society and Media
Although elites dominate the political structure, civil society organizations are becoming a voice for democratic reform. Their efforts to push for inclusive governance have been successful in many ways, but they lack the capacity and resources to carry out their functions fully. USAID works directly with a diverse representation of Nigerian civil society and media organizations, building their internal management capacity and strengthening their ability to engage with the government on issues of fiscal accountability, budget monitoring and transparency within extractive industries.

Elections
In 2011, Nigerians participated in what were arguably the most credible and transparent elections since the country’s independence. USAID capitalized on this positive momentum to improve elections by supporting the organizational development of political parties and the independence of the electoral commission, and by increasing civil society input into electoral and constitutional reform dialogue. In 2015, the Independent National Electoral Commission working with civil society organizations-which ran parallel vote tabulations-Nigeria helped usher in the first peaceful, democratic transition of power between two parties.
