HealthHealth Benefits Of "MARIJUANA" Canabis Sativa by Dbestmax(op): 11:43pm On Jul 21, 2014
Recently, CNN's chief medical correspondent
Sanjay Gupta reversed his opinion on medical
marijuana .
While recreational marijuana is controversial, many
people agree with Gupta's new stance, and believe
that the drug should be legal for medical uses.
While the benefits of smoking pot may be
overstated by advocates of marijuana legalization,
the new legalization will help researchers study the
drugs' medicinal uses, and better understand how
it impacts the body.
Currently only 6% of studies on marijuana analyze
its medicinal properties.
Keep in mind, though, that there are negative
effects of smoking too much pot or using it for non-
medicinal purposes. When overused or abused, pot
can cause dependency and mess with your
memory and emotions .
There are at least two active chemicals in
marijuana that researchers think have medicinal
application. Those are cannabidiol (CBD) — which
seems to impact the brain without a high— and
tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) — which has pain
relieving properties.
Also keep in mind that these same health benefits
can be gained by taking THC pills, Dronabinol,
which in some ways is more effective than smoked
marijuana.
Randy Astaiza contributed to an earlier version of
this story.
1.
It can be used to treat Glaucoma.
Marijuana use can be used to treat and prevent the
eye disease glaucoma, which increases pressure in
the eyeball, damaging the optic nerve and causing
loss of vision.
Marijuana decreases the pressure inside the eye,
according to the National Eye Institute: "Studies in
the early 1970s showed that marijuana, when
smoked, lowered intraocular pressure (IOP) in
people with normal pressure and those with
glaucoma."
These effects of the drug may slow the progression
of the disease, preventing blindness.
2.
It may help reverse the carcinogenic effects of
tobacco and improve lung health.
According to a study published in Journal of the
American Medical Association in January 2012,
marijuana does not impair lung function and can
even increase lung capacity.
Researchers looking for risk factors of heart disease
tested the lung function of 5,115 young adults over
the course of 20 years. Tobacco smokers lost lung
function over time, but pot users actually showed
an increase in lung capacity.
It's possible that the increased lung capacity
maybe due to taking a deep breaths while inhaling
the drug and not from a therapeutic chemical in
the drug.
3.
It can help control epileptic seizures.Marijuana use can prevent epileptic seizures, a
2003 study showed.
Robert J. DeLorenzo, of Virginia Commonwealth
University, gave marijuana extract and synthetic
marijuana to epileptic rats. The drugs rid the rats of
the seizures for about 10 hours. Cannabinoids like
the active ingredients in marijuana,
tetrahydrocannabinol (also known as THC), control
seizures by binding to the brain cells responsible
for controlling excitability and regulating
relaxation.
The findings were published in the Journal of
Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.
It also decreases the symptoms of a severe seizure
disorder known as Dravet's Syndrome.
Charlotte Figi has Dravet's Syndrome, and her
parents are giving her marijuana to treat her
seizures.
During the research for his documentary
"Weed," Gupta interviewed the Figi family, who
treats their 5-year-old daughter using a medical
marijuana strain high in cannabidiol and low in
THC.
Their daughter, Charlotte, has Dravet Syndrome,
which causes seizures and severe developmental
delays.
According to the film, the drug has decreased her
seizures from 300 a week to just one every seven
days. Forty other children in the state are using the
same strain of marijuana to treat their seizures —
and it seems to be working.
The doctors who recommended this treatment say
that the cannabidiol in the plant interacts with the
brain cells to quiet the excessive activity in the
brain that causes these seizures.
As Gutpa notes, a Florida hospital that specializes
in the disorder, the American Academy of
Pediatrics, and the Drug Enforcement agency don't
endorse marijuana as a treatment for Dravet or
other seizure disorders.
4.
A chemical found in marijuana stops cancer from
spreading.
CBD may help prevent cancer from spreading,
researchers at California Pacific Medical Center in
San Francisco reported in 2007.
Cannabidiol stops cancer by turning off a gene
called Id-1, the study, published in the journal
Molecular Cancer Therapeutics, found. Cancer cells
make more copies of this gene than non-cancerous
cells, and it helps them spread through the body.
The researchers studied breast cancer cells in the
lab that had high expression levels of Id-1 and
treated them with cannabidiol. After treatment the
cells had decreased Id-1 expression and were less
aggressive spreaders.
In "WEED," Gupta also mentioned a few studies in
the U.S., Spain, and Israel that suggest the
compounds in cannabis could even kill cancer cells.

CelebritiesKanye West's GQ Cover Page Story..quite Intresting..... by Dbestmax(op): 10:38pm On Jul 21, 2014
Here's Kanye's GQ cover page story...Some of you
may enjoy it! Find below...
Kanye West has been married for ten days, and he
has that new-husband way with the ring still,
pulling it on and off like it's something he might
yet undo, or do again. The ring is gold, and
understated in a way that not much else about
Kanye West is. He sits in the lobby of New York's
Mercer Hotel—the same hotel where he and Jay Z
recorded most of Watch the Throne—reflecting on
the distance he's come. "I am a black American
male from Chicago," West says, "who had my
rehearsal dinner at Versailles and then got
married in Florence with a view of the entire city."
Continue...
He is one year removed from Yeezus, the record that
took all of West's prodigious pop gifts and made a
show of immolating them one by one. He is one year
removed from telling anyone who'd listen that he
was going to burn the entire fashion industry down,
or at least he would once they let him through the
door. Now they kind of have: He's got a capsule
collection with A.P.C. out now; a line with Adidas that
debuts with footwear this fall; and somewhere off in
the distance, a new menswear line. He's also got a
new record—maybe even a full-on pop record, though
he hasn't decided yet. He knows he is no longer the
most popular man in rap. "Currently that spot is
taken," West says. "Let's be honest—he got last
summer."
Who?
"You know. There's only one person."
Drake?
"Yeah. He got last summer. And I'd never given it up
till last summer." Now he's thinking about taking it
back. "It's a real question for me. Do I want to?"
Meanwhile, he's reckoning with what it is to be a
father and a husband and a decent human. He's
happier now—"You see I haven't name-dropped and
said a bunch of negative stuff about people," he says
at one point—but no less homicidally competitive or
less convinced that he's the next Steve Jobs. He'd
like to spend more time with his family. He'd also still
like to build amusement parks. It's a contradiction,
one he's only begun to resolve. And all the while, he
can't go outside with his wife, Kim Kardashian,
without having his photo taken. His entire waking life
has become a performance, a manifesto, a fashion
shoot.
Most of the time, he's cool with that fact. But not
always. "I hope we don't see no paparazzi today,"
West says. "Because I'm still getting acquainted with
these jogging pants I threw on. Like, 'That's not my
statement!' "
You got married a week ago. You're the lead
subject in practically every tabloid on the
planet right now. Are you comfortable in that
position, having that many eyes on you?
That wasn't my goal. My goal is just to be respected
as a man when I walk down the street with my
family. I don't care what your job is, you're not gonna
talk down to me, you're not gonna try to get a rise
out of me. I'm a man first. And in establishing that,
some interesting things have happened. [laughs]
Like that TMZ video from last year, where
you're walking with your pregnant fiancée with
your head down to avoid the paparazzi, to the
point where you walked into a sign and hit
your head. Then TMZ made fun of you for
walking into the sign. How do you live like
that?
It's difficult. And then put on top of that the idea of
going and taking meetings with people, and people
say, "We don't want to work with you, because we
saw you get mad about running into the sign."
Does that kind of mockery feel like an effort to
de-fang you?
But also, there's no fangs. I don't have fangs. I'm a
porcupine. I'm a blowfish. Like, I'm a—what's the fish
that blows up?
A blowfish?
Yeah. I'm a blowfish. I'm not a shark, I'm a blowfish.
So that perfect example about me hitting my head,
it's like a blowfish. I wasn't coming out of my house
going to a paparazzi's house to attack them. I'm
defending my family in front of my own house. I'm
defending my name as someone's screaming
something negative at me. That's a blowfish. People
have me pinned as a shark or a predator in some
way, and in no way am I that. I wouldn't want to hurt
anyone. I want to defend people. I want to help
people.
Can I read you something? The New York
Post's Page Six has an account of your wedding
that reads, in part: "Kanye returned one hour
before the wedding and didn't like the all-
white bar that was in front of the Gold Toilet
Tower. He took a saw and started sawing it in
half himself. Two men held the bar stable as
he sawed, and sawed, into the bar, defacing
the entire front, screaming at everyone around
him. He said it looked like a bar from Texas.
Then he ordered two pieces of raw wood to be
nailed onto the front of the bar. Once the wood
was in place, 'Now,' he said, 'it's art.' The
Italian construction teams looked at this guy
and couldn't believe what they were seeing."
For the person that wrote that, were they involved
with anything last year that was as culturally
significant as the Yeezus tour or that album? They
didn't even talk there about the photographs, or the
dress, or Andrea Bocelli singing, or the marble tables.
They're like: "It's a gold toilet." No. The bathrooms—
that usually would be a porta-potty—were wrapped
in a fabric that was neutral to match the fort. The bar
was terrible, and the wedding planner didn't approve
it with me. I was having issues with this wedding
planner the entire time on approvals, and I get there
and they threw some weird plastic bar there. So the
same materials that were used to cover the
bathroom, we said, "Let's just use that, because this
is all we have to make the bar look better." Which it
did, in the end. And anyone knows that you cannot
pick up tools yourself, because of—what are those
rules about the workers?
Unions?
Yeah, unions. You can't do that. It's illegal. That's
false.
Then they say you gave a forty-five-minute
toast to yourself.
And what I talked about in it was the idea of
celebrity, and celebrities being treated like blacks
were in the '60s, having no rights, and the fact that
people can slander your name. I said that in the
toast. And I had to say this in a position where I, from
the art world, am marrying Kim. And how we're going
to fight to raise the respect level for celebrities so
that my daughter can live a more normal life. She
didn't choose to be a celebrity. But she is. So I'm
going to fight to make sure she has a better life.
How does it feel when you read something like
that account of your wedding or you see a
photo of you looking glum at a zipline go viral?
My feelings don't matter anymore.
Of course they do.
No. One of the things that I said at the speech was,
anyone that's at this table has had to defend me or
Kim or both of us at some point in their life. Ask a
boxer: "In the third round, when he hit you from the
side on your ear, how did that specifically feel?" You
wouldn't ask a boxer that. Because you know they're
there to fight. Meaning now you know I'm here to
fight. I'm here to fight for the re-education of what
celebrity is. To say, "Yes, we are celebrities, but yes,
we're also innovators, we're also inventors, we're also
thoughtful."

CelebritiesBeyonce And Jay Z Headed For A Divorce?? by Dbestmax(op): 3:29pm On Jul 21, 2014
This is probably BS but it's interesting to read.
Insiders are claiming Jay Z and Beyonce's marriage is
all but over and the only thing keeping them
together is their tour. Don't believe it but read
below..
From Page Six
Beyoncé and Jay Z have more than 99 problems
and only “divine intervention” can save the
troubled marriage, a source close to the powerful
couple has told The Post.
While Jay Z seemingly is the one most at fault,
he’s also the one doing all in his power to keep
the couple together, even hiring marriage
counselors who are believed to be traveling with
the super duo on their tour, the source said.
“They are trying to figure out a way to split
without divorcing . . . This is a huge concert tour
and they’ve already gotten most of the money
from the promoters up front,” the source said.
Continue..
Despite the tens of millions the couple will pocket
from the current tour, this will certainly be their
last and the end of the tour could officially spell
the end of the marriage, the source said.
“There are no rings, if you haven’t noticed,” the
source said, admitting that he thought things
would get better after the birth of the couple’s
daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
“For just a split moment, things got real for them
and she was even talking about adding to the
family,” the source said.
“But, after a while, Jay was out doing Jay and Bey
was out doing Bey. They made the classic mistake
of thinking a child would change everything and
help to rekindle the initial fire, and it didn’t.”

EducationLongest English Words In The Oxford Dictionary by Dbestmax(op): 1:25pm On Jul 21, 2014
I've seen situations where people manufacture their own words as the longest dictionary word deceiving others.
What is the longest English word?
The longest words in Oxford Dictionaries Online are:
antidisestablishmentarianism - opposition to
the disestablishment of the Church of England -
28 letters
floccinaucinihilipilification - the estimation of
something as worthless - 29 letters
pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis
- a supposed lung disease - 45 letters
You're unlikely to come across these words in
genuine use: they're generally just provided as
answers to questions about the longest words in the
English language. In terms of sheer size, however,
the longest word to be found in Britain is the Welsh
place name
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.
For obvious reasons, it's usually abbreviated to
Llanfair PG.
The 20-volume historical Oxford English Dictionary
includes other very long words, most of which are
highly technical. These include:
otorhinolaryngological - 22 letters
immunoelectrophoretically - 25 letters
psychophysicotherapeutics - 25 letters
thyroparathyroidectomized - 25 letters
pneumoencephalographically - 26 letters
radioimmunoelectrophoresis - 26 letters
psychoneuroendocrinological - 27 letters
hepaticocholangiogastrostomy - 28 letters
spectrophotofluorometrically - 28 letters
pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism - 30
letters
People sometimes ask whether a DNA string can be
considered as the longest English word, given that
they can run to many thousands of letters. The
answer is no: they're regarded as chemical names
rather than genuine words in the sense of
meaningful items of vocabulary. The same is true of
the formal names of chemical compounds. These
can be almost unlimited in length (for example,
aminoheptafluorocyclotetraphosphonitrile, 40
letters) and many contain numerals, Roman and
Greek letters, and other symbols, as well as ordinary
letters. We don't tend to regard these terms as
proper 'words'.

FashionAfrican Women No Longer "Believe Black Is Beautiful" -by Sede Alonge by Dbestmax(op): 3:39pm On Jul 20, 2014
I came across a somewhat controversial article on
skin bleaching by African women in the UK
Telegraph, written by a Nigerian writer and lawyer,
Sede Alonge, and I thought to bring it here so we can
read and discuss. Sola makes a case for women who
bleach for why they shouldn't be made to feel like
they are betraying their race for wanting to change
their skin colour. Read below...
Toning. Lightening. Brightening. Whitening. While
the marketing slogans promoting skin
enhancement in Africa might be varied, the
underlying effects are pretty identical. Although I
do not use skin lightening products, I live in
Nigeria where millions of women do.
On offer in my local shops are a myriad of
products designed to make dark skin lighter: Kojic
acid soaps, fade creams, hydroquinone creams,
whitening shower gels made from goat milk and
for the more determined: skin lightening
injections. Continue...
So when last month Vera Sidika (pictured above), a
popular Kenyan model and socialite, publicly
admitted to spending tons of money bleaching her
skin, she added fuel to an already smoking hot fire.
Just one admission was enough to re-ignite the fierce
debate about Africans’s perception of beauty.
A bullish Sidika says she is proud of the way she
looks and thinks African societies are hypocritical on
this thorny issue. But her honesty roused the ire of
many social media users across the continent.
Passions inevitably run high among Africans
whenever someone brings into play racial issues. On
the topic of skin whitening, emotionally charged
slogans such as “black is beautiful” are often
employed in an attempt to make women like Sidika
feel as if they are somehow betraying their race.
Such women are then accused of having inferiority
complexes towards white people.
In Nigeria, where 77 per cent of women use skin
lightening products, according to a recent World
Health Organisation report, the mainstream African
commentariat, which is mostly male-dominated,
projects a strong bias against the practice. I myself
am a dark skinned Nigerian woman who does not use
whitening creams or soaps, but I feel that while there
are valid health concerns as to the side-effects of skin
lightening products, it should remain an individual's
prerogative to be who or what they want to be.
Yes, black is beautiful, but so also is white, brown,
yellow and the many shades in between.
When white people use tanning lotions, solariums
and other methods to darken their skin, it is treated
as par for the course and other white people don't
feel the need to remind them that “white is
beautiful”. In fact, such a statement would likely be
regarded as racist by members of other races.
Yes, I understand that there was a specific historical
context in the US and elsewhere which, at the time,
necessitated the use of the “black is beautiful”
slogan in order to boost black people’s sense of self-
worth and identity, but this is 2014 and we should
have gotten beyond that by now. Or are self-
affirming slogans going to be needed by black people
forever?
People’s desire to have a particular skin tone, be it a
darker or lighter one, stems from them wanting to be
more attractive and sometimes for others to take
notice. And more often than not, in the case of an
individual who has undergone skin lightening here in
Africa, it works. The critics might be unwilling to
concede this publicly, but the harsh truth is that in
Africa, lighter skinned girls do get more attention
and are more appreciated than darker skinned
women.
It is not unusual to often hear Nigerian men say
things like: “Oh, I met this beautiful girl the other
day, she had a great body…and she was fair in
complexion.” But then these same men would
hypocritically voice outrage if a Nigerian woman,
especially one in the public eye, openly admitted to
bleaching her skin. If skin tone didn’t matter at all to
Nigerian men, skin lightening creams and soaps
wouldn’t be flying off the shelves over here as they
are right now. In Nigerian music videos too, one can
notice a glaring preference for lighter skinned
females. The niggling suspicion remains that my
society is more self delusional on questions of
identity and its perception of beauty than it cares to
admit.
Physical attraction is instinctive and lighter skinned
women are bound to attract more attention from
men in a dark skinned society such as Nigeria – just
like darker skinned people do in predominantly white
societies. Such interest does not have to be due to
any sort of complex and is often simply mere
curiosity of the different.
Skin lightening should not be automatically regarded
as an individual’s outright rejection of their race. If a
woman feels that lightening her skin will make her
prettier or more confident, then society should let her
be and not impose itself as judge and jury on her
concept of beauty. It is high-time Africans stop being
hysterical and overly-defensive about issues of their
self worth and identity.

SportsSuarez Sold To Barcelona by Dbestmax(op): 1:10am On Jul 10, 2014
Latest reports claim that Liverpool has agreed on
Luis Suarez's transfer to Barcelona FC for £63million.
Metro reports with reference to the local Catalan TV
station TV3 that the offer which was m*de by the
Spanish club Friday morning, has been accepted
following the further negotiations.
Sketchy information had been provided earlier
regarding the sum of the deal. Some sources claimed
that Barca's offer was £80million.
Meanwhile Metro states that Liverpool rejected
Barca's opening £55.7million bid m*de this week,
demanding a bigger amount.
The Reds used to say they would not sell the
footballer for less than £75million, but the sum
apparently decreased as Suarez m*de it clear he did
not wish to stay at Anfield any longer.
However now, as the deal has been finally agreed on,
Suarez is expected to travel to Spain for a medical,
with a five-year contract being offered.
It would be recalled that the Uruguayan player was
banned by FIFA for 4 months and nine games over
biting his Italian counterpart, Roberto Chiellini,
during the 2014 World Cup game. This "biting story"
has become one of the most scandalous moments of
the ongoing Mundial.
