The man is not interested in cutting cost of governance at all.

We have the highest number of ministers in history and the man keeps appointing.

Of course he has to settle every political interest.

Politics / Re: LGA Autonomy: Much Ado About NOTHING by ddippset(m): 9:21am On Jul 13
SmartPolician:

This is false. You can only influence someone you rigged into power. If Abuja INEC starts conducting LGA elections, LGA chairmen will be free to operate.

However, I want the constitution to be amended such that those chairmen are mandated to live in their domain. You cannot be an LGA chairman and live in your state capital. You are far away from realities.
Are you aware that an LGA chairman can be suspended by the State House of Assembly ( Probably on the influence of the Governor?)

Are you aware that the State Commissioner of Police is normally 100 percent loyal to the Governor especially if it is a Governor in the ruling party?

Are you aware the the State Attorney or State Judiciary is in many cases in the pocket of the Governor, who can use this judiciary to frustrate the chairman especially since the Chairman has no immunity?

Dey play!

Any LGA chairman who is not loyal to the Governor especially if it is a Governor in the ruling party, go hear am hot.
Hot Hot.

At the snap of his fingers, a Governor can orchestrate the impeachment of an LGA Chairman who messes with him.

Validated:
There has been a lot of buzz about LGA autonomy as if it will change anything. The LGA Chairmen are all selected by the State Governors.

Until State Independent Electoral Commissions are scrapped, there will be no autonomy. As long as State governors select LGA chairmen in the name of LG elections, nothing has changed..
By the way, why is the Supreme Court silent on the LCDAs?

Anyway, I can imagine that this is the only achievement by the Tinubu government in the last 1 year plus of monumental disaster. Having plunged the economy into an abysmal state, a Supreme Court Judgement is Worth celebrating in the midst of significant and unprecedented failure.
Point On.

Even if INEC begins to conduct LGA elections governors in the ruling party would still have a very strong hold on the LGA chairmen.
Because the Governors would still exert huge influences on the Federal institutions like INEC, police, military, judiciary etc.

They will still whip the Chairmen into submission and loyalty.

Only Governors in opposition will suffer from this LGA autonomy cus the Chairmen's loyalty and submission will drift towards Abuja.

Fubara has deceived those urchins Jumping up on CTC appointment, One chance grin grin grin

implication now is that FG Now controls whoever is elected LG chairman, The FG will easily select and this Gives APC candidates more advantage, so we expect even fubara chosen ones I mean the few ones he can influence to Rebel against him.....and join with APC FG....of course the FG will dangle the carrot....VERY INTERESTING....when a child is tall like the father, he got no experience and tricks like the father..
Guy las las na sawdust and sperm full your brain sha..

The only way it could hurt Fubara much is if they seize Rivers state allocation completely.

If I were Fubara I would run with caretaker for another 6 months and fund them from my huge Rivers allocation...

After 6 months when I have fully uprooted Wike's people from control of the LGA grassroots I will conduct the election and receive my allocation.

6 months loss of LGA revenue won't hurt Rivers much..

I know you know this but you just choose to deceive your old age.

SenatorCharles1:
Following today's Supreme Court ruling on Local Government financial autonomy, it simply do not translate in any way to mean nullification of already existing ad hoc LGA arrangement (CTC) rather it now behoves on those affected states to expedite the process of conducting local government elections.

The directive from the Supreme Court to the FG to withhold funds from states operating Caretaker Committee (CTC) chairmen underscores the recognition by the Supreme Court of the presence of CTC arrangements in certain states.

Moreover, as the leadership of various Local government currently using the CTC arrangement cannot afford to exist in vacuum, it becomes imperative for stakeholders of those affected states to ensure the smooth conduct of the Council elections moving forward
This is the most reasonable and sensible comment so far.

If the Supreme Court and the FG have no sinister motive, they would allow already existing CTCs to continue to receive their funds and probably give a 6 months deadline to conduct proper elections to usher in democratically elected Chairmen.

It defies logic and common sense for the SP to judge an an issue like this, that has to do with local government administration and grassroots,, and then expect it to take immediate effect.

It cannot happen in a sane clime but in a zoo like this, anything is possible..

It's like making a New law to change petrol fired engines to electric engines because of pollution, and telling people to get rid of their petrol engines immediately...

I believe the law means that all existing CTCs should expedite elections while any CTC formed henceforth will be affected.

Solidifying requires money like lots of money, the difference is the person he is in a fight with still wield power, and lots of money at his disposal and lots of loyal foot soldiers.

My point is, he started it too early, he should have built his war chest at least 2 years before attacking him, that way he will be rounded and acquainted with who and how to use in dismantle his opponent.
Lol @ built his war chest.

We heard so many outrageous rumours!!

1. Like LGA chairman were supposed to be remitting monies to the former governor.
2. Like Sim himself was supposed to be remitting money to the former Governor, 20 percent of State allocation to be more precise.
3. Like there was a limit to the amount of contract Sim was permitted to sign without firstly consulting the former Governor..
And so many more!

Now assuming that these conditions were true, how was he supposed to build any war chest under such conditions

Who will conduct LG election?

The State. If it is the State then forget the law....What is the law when i have my people incharge of LGAs.

Nigeria law always have loophole. The Rich and elites know this. They may hold it but once election is done they will release it.
In most of these states the elected LGA chairmen will even receive the allocation and then take it to the Governor to share for them.

If not you get suspended or you won't come back or the State Governors will use the assembly and the state judiciary to frustrate you.

Yeah, you forget the percentage.

Federal get 52%, normally the states get the rest 47% hence enough money, now state get 26 percent and local government get 20.8 or so, that is about 45 percent of what they usually get will be withheld by federal lol, you still think there is enough money.
Do you know how much Rivers IGR is?

Well my main point is this,,

For now, solidifying his structures across all LGAs is more important for Fubara than fighting to receive LGA allocations.

Am sure Fubara knows this. He would not mind losing money for another 1 year just to eliminate all Wike elements within the LGA structures.

This is all aimed at Fabura of Rivers lol!

Imagine how fast they got the judgement soon after he selected his representative, he has to do election now and may lose control of many local government.
He will not be in a hurry to conduct LGA elections.

Rivers State allocation is more than enough to fund the 27 LGAs and the remaining will still be more than many states allocations.

Fubara can fund his Caretaker chairmen from his own allocation for another 1 year, while he gets his structure right.

Rivers is not Bauchi or Kogi.. There is money.

Uruguay same, they've not lost in many many games, since the World Cup I think.

The only thing that can save those 27 is for the PDP National to deny that they defected from their party.

The same PDP National that once announced that the 27 were no longer their members and called for INEC to conduct elections to fill the seats.

All that changed when Damagun decided to sell his soul.

Wike camp will won the case. The state high court lacks the jurisdiction to entertain the matter.

Also, PDP told the court the 24 lawmakers are their members while APC maintain the lawmakers are not their members.

Video evidence or affidavit not enough to proof this case.

Fubara camp may head to supreme Court but may not secure a stay of execution.

The 24 lawmakers are likely to resume sitting from tomorrow.

Jumbo and the others will remain suspended.

Fubara may lose this but that of the LGA he Fubara has an upper hand.
Affidavit may not be able to prove the case..

He does not need to do any kind of underground work on this particular issue. The members defection is a comedy skit. As members of a State Assembly, their defections should be duly and properly written on a letter headed paper and signed by them and issued to their respective Ward Chairmen and also a copy handed to the National Leadership in Abuja. That is the process and that is what those before them and even recently have done as it relates to defection.
Now, you still can't say they are members of the APC for there's no record of them in the official records of the party.
And what about the sworn affidavit to a Federal high court about their Defection?
Was that a comedy skit too?

I actually believe they can wriggle their way out of this.

And that's only only only because Nigeria itself is a comedy skit.
