EFCC arraigns Winners pastor for fraud

On June 21, Temidayo Eseyin, an associate pastor with the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), was arraigned by the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He was charged with allegedly defrauding Landmark University in Omu-Aran, Kwara State, of N19.3 million.

Eseyin, who is a lawyer and a former member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association in Ilorin, was accused of dishonestly misappropriating university funds. According to a petition to the EFCC, Eseyin had access to the university's properties, title documents, and funds while working as a counsel/attorney for Landmark University.

The Labour Party (LP) tendered 18,088 blurred polling units results of the presidential election before the tribunal on Thursday.

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the LP and the party, had challenged the process of the election in which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced President Bola Tinubu as winner.

Respondents in the suit are INEC, Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chef Damilola Adeparusi, who is attempting to set a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual with a 120-hour cook-a-thon, has come under fire after a tweep alleged that N1,000 was charged at the venue of the cook-a-thon.

A tweep, #D_DebbieAgboola, on Saturday, alleged that she paid N1,000 to be in the Very Important Person session, which according to the organisers, gave her access to eat all the food prepared by the chef for one day.

Aston Villa have agreed a deal to sign Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans.

The Belgium international, 26, will join the club on 1 July, after his Leicester contract expires.

Following Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League, Arsenal, Manchester United and Roma were also rumoured to be interested in Tielemans.

Tielemans – expected to be Villa’s first signing of the summer – joined Leicester in 2019 and helped the Foxes win the FA Cup in 2021.

A shark mauled a Russian man swimming at an Egyptian beach filled with people on Thursday June 8, including the man’s father, according to Russian media reports.

The gory video circulating online appears to show a huge splash and commotion in the water as the man is dragged underneath by the shark, while terrified onlookers scream for help.

“It’s eating his remains now,” one witness who filmed the incident can be heard saying.

A High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has sentenced the presiding pastor of a new generation Church, Chidiebere Okoroafor, to death by hanging for multiple murders.


Pastor Okoroafor, who is the General Overseer of the Altar of Solution and Healing Assembly based in Oyigbo, Rivers State, was standing trial for killing his choir mistress, Orlunma Nwagba, who he allegedly impregnated.

He was also facing murder charges for the killing of Orlunma’s friend, Chigozie Ezenwa, and her 11 months old baby girl, Cresabel, on December 11, 2017, in the Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.
