No any assumption there. The dream of the prophets is a 'wahy,' it is Allah (SWA) that sends wahy.

Prophet Isma'il said Oh 'abati' do what you have been commanded to. You will find me insha Allah among 'assabireen.'

When he was about to act, "wa naadainahu an yaa Ibrahim."

Allah SWA command prophet Ibrahim (AS) through dream to sacrifice his son, prophet Isma'il (AS). He truly obeyed, then he was compensated with an animal. The reason for this act of worship.

Check Suratus Saffat Q:37:102 to 107.
